HikCentral Connect Mobile Client User Manual

Chapter 1 Introduction
HikCentral Connect (HCC) is a Video Security as a Service (VSaaS) platform for enterprise users. An
HCC system (hereinafter referred to as "the System") can be remotely handed over to an enterprise
user via the Internet without the inconvenience of onsite server deployment. By subscribing to the
HCC services (e.g., video management service, on-board monitoring service, access control service,
video intercom service, and alarm detection service), the enterprise users can manage resources
remotely, perform video-based monitoring, handle alarms, locate and track vehicles, control doors,
manage calls, and so on. HCC is suitable for single-site or multi-site scenarios including the
monitoring and management of retail stores, petrol stations, factories, office buildings, vehicle
fleets, and so on.
HCC provides easy-to-use clients (a Portal and a Mobile Client) for users to access it.
Table 1-1 Portal and Mobile Client
Client Description
Portal Portal for users to log in to HCC to manage resources and
perform related configurations and operations (Portal URL:
https://www.hikcentralconnect.com ).
All features of the five types of services (except for those related
to call answering and the self-service features) are available on
the Portal.
Mobile Client Mobile Client for users to log in to HCC to use more lightweight
features of the five types of services, such as live view, playback,
driving monitoring, remote door controls, person/resident
management, and arming control of security control partitions
(areas) or zones.
It is also for self-service users to use self-service features such as
door opening via mobile credentials, call answering and
management, temporary pass management, etc.

1.1 Target Audience

This manual provides the super user and normal users with the essential information and
instructions about how to use the Mobile Client to perform operations for video monitoring, on-
board monitoring, access control management, video intercom management, and alarm detection.
Specifically, it describes how to manage your account and the added resources, and perform
operations such as live view, playback, alarm and message handling, driving monitoring, remote
door controls, call answering and management, and arming/disarming of security control
partitions (areas).

1.2 Related Entities

Here we introduce the entities (any physical or conceptual object) related to HCC.
Table 1-2 Entities Related to HCC
Entity Description
Service Provider The service provider who creates the HCC system and hands it
over to the enterprise user, or who links with the self-registered
HCC account. A service provider can be a system integrator or an
installer, dealer, reseller, etc.
Service Provider Platform The platform (e.g., Hik-Partner Pro) used by the service provider
to create the HCC system and purchase more services for HCC
users.
System Handover The process in which the service provider hands over the ready-
to-use HCC system together with devices added on the service
provider platform to the enterprise user via the Internet.
Super User The enterprise user who accepts the ready-to-use HCC system or
self-registers an HCC account and plays the role of the initial
administrator of HCC. The super user has full access to resources
and features in HCC.
Normal User All the other users except the super user. Different roles can be
assigned to normal users to let them have different permissions
to access resources and features in HCC. In other words, a
normal user might have limited access to resources and features
in HCC.
Resource All physical resources and logical resources managed in HCC.
Physical resources refer to devices including NVRs, DVRs,
network cameras, on-board devices, Hik-ProConnect boxes,
security control devices, etc.
Logical resources refer to abstractions of components of physical
resources. For example, video channels are the logical resources
of NVRs.

1.3 Running Environment

The following is the recommended operating system for running the Mobile Client.

Chapter 2 Account Management

For the super user, they can register an account by themselves or get their account information
from invitation emails (invitations to join HCC) sent by their service provider; for normal users, they
can only get their account information from invitation emails sent by the super user or other
normal users who have the permission to create users. With the account information (account
name and password), the super user and normal users can log into the System for further
configurations or operations.

2.1 About Licenses

HikCentral Connect provides both free features and subscription features, and the subscription
features are controlled by various types of licenses, including those for using the video
management, on-board monitoring, access control, video intercom, and alarm detection services.
You can purchase licenses from your service provider according to your needs.

Note
● If the licenses you have purchased are about to expire, please contact your service provider to
renew them in time to ensure the proper use of the service features.
● If any of your licenses has expired and the number of resources allowed to be added exceeds the
limit, your system will enter a "service limit exceeded" status and all service-related features will
be unavailable. To continue using HikCentral Connect, you need to either contact your service
provider to purchase more licenses, or you can go to Resource Management to delete some
resources.

Self-Register a Super User Account

You can create your own HCC system by self registering a super user account. A self-registered
account can enjoy using HCC with free service plans for the video management service, on-board
monitoring service, access control service, and video intercom service. If you want to purchase/

2.4 Link Your Account with Service Provider

In order for a service provider to offer you value-added services of HCC, you need to link your
account with the service provider.

For Self-Registered Users

After you have registered a super user account on your own, you can enjoy using HCC on free
service plans for the video management, on-board monitoring, access control, and video intercom
services. However, if you want to use the alarm detection service or purchase/activate more
service plans to enjoy the service features without limitations, you need to ask your service
provider to link with your account first in order to fulfill your needs and offer you more services.
For Users Who Got Their Account Information from a Service Provider
If your HCC system is created and handed over to you by a service provider, the service provider
can manage your HCC system on the service provider platform and offer you value-added services
of HCC. However, if you need to switch to a new service provider due to a change of circumstances,
you need to ask the new service provider to send you an account linking request.
Approve the Request of Linking Your Account
For both scenarios, the linking request will be sent by your service provider from the service
provider platform using information such as your account email address. You will receive an email
notifying you of the pending linking request. To approve the linking request on the Mobile Client,
go to Messages → System (for details, refer to System Messages ). You can also approve the
linking request via the Portal, refer to the HikCentral Connect Portal User Manual for details.

Note
● If you have received linking requests from more than one service provider, the last approved
linking request shall prevail.
● Your account can only be linked with one service provider account at the same time. You can
switch to a new service provider if needed, and the service provider previously linked with you
will be notified of the change.
