1 Purpose
The purpose of this Procedure is to describe the process that Operations staff can feedback Technical
Document improvement suggestions to the Service & Maintenance Engineering teams.
This will provide a key mechanism by which the effectiveness and efficiency of the Technical
Documentation can be continuously improved.

2 Scope
This Procedure is applicable to all parties involved in the maintenance of HRL rolling stock.

Note - (This is with the exception of the Class 395 fleet which follows MMIF process HRE-ASH-QSE-PRO-
00036).

Continuous improvement submissions for Technical Documentation are to be submitted through this
process.
TDIF - Technical Documentation Improvement Form
This form is to be submitted when maintenance teams identify errors or improvement suggestions related
to technical documentation see QR codes and links to forms in APPENDIX A.
TDIF Register
Once a TDIF is submitted the information is automatically populated into a register where the submission is
also automatically given an identification number. To view the register or to track progress of any
submissions see QR codes and links in APPENDIX B.

3 Roles and Responsibilities

3.1 Fleet Engineering Manager


Accountable for the implementation, maintenance and monitoring the effectiveness of this
procedure

3.2 Maintenance Engineer


Allocating an Engineer to each TDIF
Allocating priority to TDIF

3.3 Allocated Engineer


Responsible for assessing TDIF and evaluating whether further action is warranted
Responsible for providing initial feedback for engineering TDIF to the originator as to whether further
action will be taken
Responsible for ensuring that the sufficient consultation is carried out to ensure that the proposed
change is acceptable to all locations
Responsible for implementing the required solution

3.4 Duty Shift Managers / Team Leader


Responsible for ensuring that maintenance staff are aware of the process and are encouraged to
provide feedback via this procedure
Allocating the maintenance personnel to support the TDIF
Responsible for ensuring that sufficient consultation is carried out to ensure that the proposed
change is acceptable to all locations

3.5 Maintenance Staff


Responsible for completing and submitting a TDIF when potential errors with, or improvements in
maintenance technical documentation are identified
