How you know the Design Thinking? G Satish MBA– HR

Corporate Trainer

The world leaders have rapidly adopted the Design Thinking approach to design new products, services and solve complex
problems in their business process. Also Design Thinking is being taught in leading universities around the world including
Harvard school, Stanford and MIT.

Don’t be shocked to know that when design principles were applied to strategy and innovation the success rate for innovation
dramatically improved. Design-led companies such as Apple, Coca-Cola, IBM, Nike, Procter & Gamble, Microsoft and
Whirlpool have outperformed over the past 10 years by an extraordinary growth, according to a 2018 assessment by the
Design Management Institute.
Due to the remarkable success rate of design-led companies, design has evolved beyond making objects. Organizations now
want to learn how to think like designers, apply design principles to the workplace itself. Design thinking is at the core of
effective strategy development and organizational change.
Do you know? What Design Thinking is? How it is being applied in their domains? And why it’s so popular? Here, I’ll cut to
the chase and tell you what it is and why it’s so in demand in even of full swing of artificial intelligence.

Design Thinking:
Design Thinking is an iterative process in which we seek to understand, redefine problems and attempt to identify alternative
strategies and solutions that might not be instantly apparent with our initial level of understanding. It is often referred to as
‘outside the box’ thinking. We challenge our assumptions and find new ways to solve our problems as designers attempt to
develop new ways of thinking that do not abide by the dominant or more common problem-solving methods. This is Human-
centred techniques and approach to design product or services and creative & innovative ways of complex problem solving.

We have experienced great innovationsin both product & processes, emerge out initially as a problem from this
fundamental habit, part of DNA of any world class manufacturing company that we know.
Unfortunately Indian manufacturing industry except some MNC is weak in this organizational competence. Of
course automation, lean manufacturing, theory of constraints, six sigma, TPM, TQM & industry 4.0 are surely
more appealing than the basic core competence.

The following operational issues need to adopt innovative practices for long term sustainability;
Management of inventory levels, work in process levels, raw material acquisition which comes under supply
chain management., Manufacturing &Delivery management, Quality management and Maintenance manage-
ment

“Blending your website design with Consumer psychology for maximum benefits”

Naveen Sharma
He is an IT expert with over 2 decades of experience in Information Tech-
nology (infrastructure as well as Software & Automation) who extensively
writes on latest technologies. He is the CEO of EverData Technologies
(www.EverData.com)
(As told to Jitendra Bhojwani)

Designing plays the vital role in any website. It allows the visitors to quickly navigate the site and easily find what they need
without wasting much of the time. In this capacity the website design directly impacts the user experience.

By keeping in mind some relevant psychological traits of your targeted audience you will be able to architect the websites that
would guide and even encourage them to take the desired action- we mean the action that you desire them to take! You will be
able to plan the way your audience will act on your website. That’s a sort of ultimate victory!

The role of design in building the trust

Whether you believe it or not, the design of your website plays a proactive role in building trust by offering the clients a digi-
tal ecosystem that makes them comfortable and relaxed. It is much easier to impress a client who feels comfortable while
browsing your site. Add some reasonable efforts on the top and you can turn an audience into a client!

First Impression = Last impression (rest are just details)

The first few moments when clients land on your site are crucial as that’s when your audience will take note of the digital
environment. A human mind feels uncomfortable in an environment that seems unfamiliar. When your targeted audience will
visit your site he will have some standard visual expectations. If the site is completely against those expectations they get
alarmed, confused and, in most cases, hit the back button!

Present your purpose honestly and frankly

Upon visiting your site the clients should be able to see your objective clearly otherwise they may grow suspicious. Besides,
your navigation should take them by finger (literally) through your site plan so that they feel safe. Simple and short navigation
is like a short, well-lit, well-built route that not only saves time but keeps your audience relaxed. Other types of visual and
digital aides will further accentuate your impact and leave a positive impression.
