NOTE 5: Grey relays are resistor protected and Black relays are diode suppressed. Black diode
suppressed relays MUST be grounded through terminal 2 and switched through terminal 1. Early
tractors equipped with grey resistor protected relays are grounded through terminal 1. Later tractors
with grey resistor protected relays are grounded through terminal 2.
IMPORTANT: If a Grey resistor protected relay is to be replaced, it MUST be replaced with a Black
diode suppressed relay. In may be necessary to change terminals 1 and 2 in the relay terminal block.
The Brown chassis ground wire must be installed into terminal 2 and the relay switching wire must be
installed into terminal 1.
