QUALITATIVE RESEARCH
(Format and Content)

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
- This is where you will introduce the problem and its scope with reference.
- Usually consists of 3 paragraphs.
- The introduction is developed by discussing the general context of your research topic.
- discuss in the general context the history of your study. Then in the specific context, you might
discuss the specific situations through citing studies limited to certain places.
Format and content:
1st Paragraph: Introduce the concern/issue through description and illustration with reference.
2nd Paragraph: this section will be for International Cases related to your study. Any
research/studies/surveys that are valid to prove that the concern/issue is relevant.
3rd Paragraph: This section will be for National Cases related to your study.
4th Paragraph: This section will be for Local Cases related to your study. This section as well will include
a statement related to the urgency of your study. Why do you need to study again the said concern/issue
or introduce a new angle of the concern/issue that hasn’t been studied yet or is less focused on.
Research Questions
This section will highlight the questions that will be the target of your study, this will also answer the
following questions:
1. What do you want to know about your studies?
2. What do you want to contribute to society through your research?
Purpose of the Study
This section will indicate your purpose as to what is your goal in conducting your study.
Significance of the Study
This section will highlight how your study will be significant to the society. You will also highlight
who will benefit from your study and explain how they will benefit from your study.
Theoretical Lens
This section will discuss your theory related to how your study works.
Definition of Terms
Emphasized the terms that needed to be understood in your study. Especially terms that are
abbreviated or used frequently in your study. Consider the two distinctions of terms used.
- Operational: how the term is used in your study
Scope and Limitation of the Study
- Discuss where you will focus on the scope of your study.
CHAPTER 2
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

- This section will be the list of recorded studies that will support the authenticity of your study
- This section will have also references that will prove the existence of the issue/concern related
to your Research Questions

CHAPTER 3
METHODOLOGY

Research Design
Discuss your selected research design with references supporting your discussion.
Research Participants
Discuss who will be the participants of your study with references supporting your discussion.
Research Locale
Discuss where the study will be conducted with references supporting your discussion.
Research Instruments
Discuss what you will use in collecting your data for your study with references supporting your
discussion.
Role of the Researcher
Discuss what will be your role in the conduct of your study with references supporting your
discussion.
Data Gathering Procedure
Discuss the step-by-step procedures for conducting research based on the standard protocol of
research.
Data Analysis
Discuss how you will analyze the collected data by following the standard description of the
analysis chosen for your study.
Trustworthiness of the Study
Discuss how you will maintain the fairness and equality of conducting the study following
CREDIBILITY, TRANSFERABILITY, DEPENDABILITY, and CONFIRMABILITY. (cite Lincoln and Guba)
Ethical Considerations
You will discuss here the proper protocol of you as a researcher in conducting the research from
asking permission to conducting the research.
