October 2023 RSI Report

Retail sales in Bermuda decreased in October 2023 compared to the previous year. The retail sales volume index decreased 4.6% while the sales value index decreased 1.3%. Six of the seven retail sectors recorded decreases in sales volume, and five sectors recorded decreases in sales value. Overseas declarations also decreased 17% compared to October 2022.

LOCAL RETAIL SALES


Sales Volume Index Decreased 4.6 Per Cent In value terms, retail sales decreased to an estimated

Building Material Stores


The sales volume and value of Building Materials
Stores for the month of October decreased by 7.8 per
cent and 6.6 per cent, respectively.

Apparel Stores
The volume of sales for Apparel Stores fell 9.7 per
cent. The value of Apparel Store sales decreased by
9.5 per cent during October 2023.

All Other Store Types


During October 2023, the sales volume for the All
Other Stores Types decreased by 10.1 per cent. In
value terms, sales for this sector decreased by 6.9
per cent. Gross receipts from furniture sales in-
creased 10.1 per cent. Sales for pharmaceuticals in-
creased by 1.8 per cent. Sales of miscellaneous
goods fell 9.6 per cent. Sales for boat and marine
supplies decreased 15.4 per cent. Appliances and
electronics sales decreased 16.7 per cent.
