DLP NO.: 2 Learning Area: Mathematics Grade Level: 8 Quarter: 4 Duration: 60 minutes

Learning Illustrates theorems on triangle inequalities(Exterior Angle

M8GE-Iva-1
Competency/ies: Inequality Theorem, Triangle Inequality Theorem, Hinge Theorem).

Key Concepts/ Exterior Angle Inequality Theorem: The measure of an exterior angle of a triangle is greater
understandings to than the measure of either interior angle.
be developed: Exterior Angle Theorem: The measure of an exterior angle of triangle is equal to the sum of
the two remote interior angles.

1. Objectives
Knowledge State the Exterior Angle Inequality Theorem
Skills Solve for the measures of unknown angles.
Use the Exterior Angle Inequality theorem in finding the unknown value of certain angles with
Attitudes
accuracy and precision.
Values Develop cooperation among others by working together as a team.
2. Content Illustrating the Exterior Angle Inequality Theorem.
3. Learning LM in Math 8 pp.400-402 and Workbook in Math 8 pp. 117 -118,
Resources/ Protractor, ruler, manila paper, Pentel Pen
Materials/
Equipment
4. Procedures(indicate the steps you will undertake to teach the lesson and indicate the no. of minutes each
step will consume)
Preparation A. Prayer
15 minutes B. Attendance, Physical Arrangement Check
C. Stimulating Activity

1. Divide the class into 5 groups.

2. Using protractor let the students measure the numbered angles of
HEY.
3. Instruct them to replicate the table in this activity on a piece of manila
paper.
4. Tell them to indicate the measures on your table and write your answers to
the questions on a piece of manila paper.
5. Let a representative from each group to present their work. ( The teacher
may choose randomly)

1. Referring to the activity above, ask the following

 What are the 3 exterior angles?

- ∠ 1 ,∠ 2 and ∠3
 What are the remote interior angles of <1 ? < 2 ? < 3?
- ∠ 4 and ∠6 , ∠5 and ∠6 , ∠5 and ∠ 4

 How does <1 relates with either remote interior <4 or <6?
- In HEY, m ∠1 is > m ∠4
- In HEY, m ∠1 is > m ∠6
 Based from the observed measures of exterior and either remote
interior angles, what theorem describes the activity?
- It describes the Exterior Angle Inequality Theorem
Presentation
 What does Exterior Angle Inequality Theorem states?
15 minutes - Exterior Angle Inequality Theorem states that the measure of
an exterior angle of a triangle is greater than the measure of
either interior angle.
2. Illustrate this figure on the board,

Given the figure with OM =OM , m ∠PMQ=1450 ,

m ∠POM =110 0
