INTERVIEW

*INTRODUCTION*
1.Tell me something about yourself?
I am a very confident and competitive person. I have a strong mind set and ambitions about my future goals that makes me committed to
my passion and these goals can only be achievable if I work hard not only in education sector but by personal development too.

I am always a top scorer and I always acquired more than 90% scores in the board final exams and besides that my extra-curricular
achievements are also very unique. Also, I was the class Monitor of my school for six consecutive years. So I always proved myself a
successful student in all terms.

My future goals are aligned to my studies and I plan to work in the Civil Services of Pakistan in the role of administrator. This is a career I
wanted to opt since I first became interested in the profession after learning about it from my career counselor.

Outside of my studies, I usually spend my time in physical sports and I also love to watch videos about personal developments. For this I
usually follow Ted talks and QASF foundation. One of my favourite speaker is Les Brown. I also teach to younger students.

I understand that lots of students apply to this scholarship program every year but my strong future goals and passion to do something
worthwhile for my country make me a strong applicant.

*FUTURE PLAN*
2. Your future plans?
My future goals are aligned to my studies and I plan to work in the Civil Services of Pakistan in the role of administrator.

This is a career I have wanted to do for a long period of time since I first became interested in the profession after learning
about it from my career counselor.

The Central Superior Services (CSS; or Civil Servants) is a permanent elite civil service authority, and the civil
service that is responsible for running the bureaucratic operations and government secretariats and directorates
of the cabinet of Pakistan. Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) conducts CSS exams in starting months of
every year for which I am preparing myself and will continue to prepare myself during whole undergraduate study
period.

Of course my goals will not be realised if I don’t work hard and achieve the qualifications I need.

This scholarship is directly linked to my future ambitions and if I am successful, it will be certainly put it to good use.

3. How do you think that after graduation you are able to improve ties between you and Turkey?
Well, two types of roles I can play to make the two nation’s ties more strong.

First, as a student, I can motivate and guide other students to study in Turkey and to apply to this particular scholarship
program that shapes the futures of talented students.

Secondly, as an administrator, I will run the administration on the principles of Turkish administration and will address the
problems from the experience of education I will gain from Turkey and this is how I can expand Turkish administrative
ideas to my nation that will make me feel proud to bring two nations on the same level of progression in every sector.

5. If we reject you, then what will you do?

If you will reject me, I will definitely apply next year with the same hope. But for the next time, I will
equip myself with great amount of information related to my field and will also try to gain those
skills that are required to excel in this career. Most probably, I will do a 3 month course in Leadership
from QASF Lahore and other courses as well and will apply to next year, so for me, rejection will not
make any negative impact, instead of it, I will feel more motivated that still I have the opportunity.
Hence, my goals will not change, my passion about work will not decrease if I will be rejected by you.

7. After completing your studies will you come back to (your country)?

Definitely, I will come back to my country to start my practical life. And also as I mentioned in my
application that after getting education from Turkey, I will come back to Pakistan and will appear in
CSS and PMS exams that are the two primary tests required by the Federal Public Service
Commission (FPSC) in order to start a career as an administrator in the public sector of Pakistan.

8. What are your career plans?

I have several career goals that I want to achieve. The first goal is to become a socially active
member of the society. Secondly, I want to gain the skills and education during the career also to
become a professional employee of my role. Moreover, I want to become a social activist and also
want to start Educational training and Skill development centres after 20 years of practical work in
the field.

9. HOW much your country needs your profession that you are going study?

Administration is a career that is in existence since the creation of the man. So, this career is not
dependent on the trends and needs. Every country has to upgrade its administrative framework in
order to run the country on the track of development. So, Public Administration will prepare me for
a profession that can’t be neglect by the government of Pakistan

10. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years or 10 years?

I already have a plan of where I want to be in the future. In coming five years’ time, I will be
completing my studies from Turkey. In these five years, besides the education, I will have
participated in numerous personality and professionally development programs. And, after the 10
years, I am fully confident to be a part of Pakistan’s administrative unit after taking assistant
employee training by the PAS which will be appointed at the small districts. So, I have planned each
and every task that I have to conquer during this period of time to become strong professionally.

11. Please explain your expectations from the higher education in Turkey.

Turkish higher education system is not only attracting for me because of its best international
institutes but also the way the Turkiye had achieved its supreme goals in education sector after the
formation of Modern Turkey. And one of the greatest reforms I had ever learned about Turkey was
Education Reform led by Mustafa Kamal. So, this nation has gone through the great reforms in
education sector that attracts me to study my future studies in Turkiye. So not only I am satisfied
with the Turkish Higher Education but also motivated to become a part of it.

12. What do you think is the biggest problem in your country?

Well there are lots of big problems and future dangers are circulating for Pakistan including Water
Crisis, Electricity crisis, Expensive Education, Political instability, failure in law enforcement but in my
view the biggest problem is Administration itself. The administrators are usually lacking the abilities
required in their profession and that’s why administration is failed in implementing the policies.
Moreover, they are also failed to successfully run the policies made by the Government due to
which the issues related to traffic, road infrastructures and other major issues like water are the
main problems. Also, the accountability rate of Commissioners and administrators is not at its
required level that’s why they are not working with honesty and loyalty with their state that results
in major issues.

*COUNTRY*
13. Why did you choose to study in Turkey?

The answer to this question base on 4 main points,

 The degree: that I want to study is based on three main subjects;

o Political Science: Turkey is best to study Political Science in a great way since the
political aspects of Turkey are interlinked with the two continents and Turkiye plays
important role in the regional politics of Asia and Europe and it is evident as in the
case of Russia-Ukraine conflict.
o Public Administration: This is also of very much importance for me since I will focus
on Public Administration subject more during my education. And The Turkey’s
administrative structure is also very important containing a system of division of
Power in the 81 provinces that made the administration of the country quite well
progressed. And if I relate it to Pakistan’s administrative structure, I think this is
what that makes the difference clear between the two nations. Pakistan’s
geographical region is more than Turkey, and Pakistan’s population is also greater
than Turkey but the number of Provinces in our country is just 4 and in Turkey it’s
81. This is what the we have neglected in our 75 years history. So, Turkey is a
phenomenal country in every respect.
o History: The Turkey’s political and developmental history both of the Ottomans era
and of Modern Turkey is very much interesting for me to learn and I want to learn
that how this great country developed so much throughout the establishment of the
country. The great reforms took by the Ataturk in the education sector and my
English teacher taught me that in 1919 there were only 150 factories in Turkey but
the number was increased up to 2000 in 1933 and I must say that the country
developed so fast as compared to the Western Europe that took 150 years to reach
on that level.
 Higher Education System: Political science and public administration degree is only offered
in Turkiye together and according to my research, no country is offering this major in this
form. Most countries are offering as very specific degrees as Public policies or management.
So this double degree style attracted me much and almost every university of Turkey is
offering this major which shows its potential. Turkey is the second country in the world in
access to higher education with 94.2% schooling rate. Turkey involved in European Higher
Education Area is implementing the Bologna Process in a perfect way; our Bologna report is
5 out of 5.
 Extra Opportunities: In addition, Turkey is one of the most successful countries participating
in the exchange programs under Erasmus +. In addition to Erasmus, there are many
exchange programs in Turkey, such as Mevlana, Farabi, which support the mobility of
students and lecturers. Moreover, International Student Academy that has been conducting
under three headings that are Introductory seminars, specialization programmes and Turkish
Arts and Sports programs will help me out in being social and will give me chance to develop
myself professionally. Also social science congress that is for postgraduate students but it
can also help me and to other social sciences students to learn from them.
 The ties between the Pakistan and Turkey are also date back since the creation of both
countries. Both countries enjoy great political, religious, economic relationships. The
Economic Cooperation Organisation ECO is one of the example of our strong ties. The newly
opened project of Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad train is ensuring great economic relationships
for future as well.

14. What do you know about Turkey?

Turkey is a newly industrialized transcontinental country located on Anatolia region in Western Asia.
Turkey is one of the oldest countries in the world and it has a broad history. The history before
Ottoman Empire has its own importance and the modern Turkey has its own value. The country
established on 29th October 1923 after the abolition of Ottoman Empire (1st November 1922) with
the Treaty of Lausanne 24th July 1923. The developments led by the Mustafa Kemal after the
formation of Modern Turkey had played significant role in country’s development. His work for the
educational system was awesome. The political history of Modern Turkey is also quite interesting
including 4 coups and one of the most historic that I know is of the 15th July 2016 military coup. This
incident pushed the people of Turkey to increase their believe on the Cumhuriyet and President
Erdogan is the luckiest leader in the present world for whom the people laid down on the road
beneath the Army tanks. This was the incident when I first fully knew about the country.

The ties between the Pakistan and Turkey are also date back since the creation of both countries.
Both countries enjoy great political, religious, economic relationships. The Economic Cooperation
Organisation ECO is one of the example of our strong ties. The newly opened project of Istanbul-
Tehran-Islamabad train is ensuring great economic relationships for future as well.

MAJOR*
16. Why do you want to studying this field?
There are thousands of programmes offered in the world at undergraduate level. For a student, it’s not an easy job to
know about each single programme and this is what that makes the selection of degree difficult. But, I always tried to
figure out the destination where I want to reach and I focused on aligning my future goals. I wanted to work for the public
at the ground level, working for the better infrastructure of the cities, and dealing the daily life problems of the community
When this became clear to my mind, the main hurdle was which specific degree should I choose that can help me to
achieve my dreams. For this, I attended several online career counselling seminars and meetings. I took several online
program selecting tests but none of them was clearing my confusions. This condition forced me to meet the Pakistan’s best
Career Counselor “Sir Yousuf Almas” who evaluated my personality and advised me to study “Political science and Public
Administration” based on my future ambitions and from that day I am confident to study this degree that can lead me to
my desired destination.
17. What do you know about your own field of interest?

Political science and public administration both focus on the public arena of human society and by
virtue of the commonality of their subject matters they are intricately related to one another. Public
administrators cannot ignore the political environment as public policies are decided by the
dynamics of political forces. Likewise, politicians cannot ignore public administrators as public
policies are implemented by public administrators.

The discipline of Political Science analyses the processes by which resources are allocated and values
are developed and discussed within a political system. The discipline explores concepts like power,
authority, legitimacy, social class, gender, ethnicity, political participation on the one hand, and
institutions like state, government, political parties, pressure groups and international organizations
on the other. The discipline also deals with political ideas and ideologies relating to issues like
political justice, ideologies and political ideas such as liberty, democracy, morality, and equality.

The discipline of Public Administration analyses the processes by which decisions and policies are
made within administrative systems and particularly within the state. The discipline also deals with
the practical side of government; through the analysis of the organization, management and
implementation of public policies and public organizations at national and local governments. As
such, it involves program management (planning, decision-making, organizing, leading,
implementing and evaluating) and resource management (human resource management and
budgeting).

*UNIVERSITY*

My selection of universities depended on four main factors.

1) International Rankings of universities by US news.

24. In case if we keep you in Turkish Medium universities will you also join that?

Yes, I will join you if you place me in a Turkish medium university. Though I wanted to study in
English to improve my English skills through education that are nowadays necessary to excel in any
professional work, but the universities and the degree that I have selected are more important for
me than language of instruction. Also, my degree offers me to study a second language through
which I can learn English, so it’s not a problem for me. In fact, the Turkish language will also give me
the opportunity to understand the Turkish people’s views and ideas more deeply and after learning
the language I will feel more like at home. So, yes, I will definitely join you whether you put me in
English medium university or in Turkish medium and that’s why I selected 6 Turkish medium
universities.

*ABOUT MYSELF*
27. What are your strengths?

My strengths includes my ability to stay self-motivated all the time that gives me immense
confidence while working or studying. Not only I can remain myself motivate but I am also a source
of motivation for my friends and that’s why some of my friends called me a motivational speaker.

Secondly, I am a very organized person and I love to plan all the tasks before starting them and I
always achieved my short term goals due to my good discipline. When I was in Army College, our
principal monitored our whole weekly progress and I always nominated as a good organised student
in terms of my education, my room setting, my participation in every activity.

Thirdly, I am a trustworthy person, as most of my teachers and friends made me realised of it

whenever they involve me in any matter. My teachers appointed me 6 times as a class Proctor and
Monitor as they had a firm belief on my strengths and on my leadership abilities. My friends always
shared their personal issues with me and I always tried to give them good advice about their issues.

So, I can say that I am not only good in academics but also in social life as well.

28. What are your Weaknesses?

My weakness is that I don't trust on new people immediately after meeting them. And I feel insecure
with them while sharing important information and ideas. This is why I usually try to do every task
on my own. And I take responsibility of every outcome. But I know that in practical life, it's integral
to work with the team and believe on team work because the organizations and big companies don't
run on single person decisions. Everyone collaborates, shares ideas and then after consensus they
make a decision. So having a belief on team members is necessary and I will try to get rid of this as
soon as possible. I believe during education in Turkey, this weakness will be excluded from my
personality since I will meet new people there and it will become easy for me to handle it before
entering into the practical life.

30. Who is your role model? What the quality made them a good leader or why you like this one?

My role model is a very famous personality of Pakistan name Qasim Ali Shah. He is a motivational
speaker and he also runs several personality development departments in Pakistan. His QASF
foundation is empowering youth with great skills. What I like very much about him is that he has
very good communication skills and whenever he delivers speeches he easily captivates the
audience’s attention and this is the quality that I really love. I can also relate myself with his
motivational skill as I have also a very positive and motivated character. Though his career is bit
different from my one but his teachings are very valuable for me. And I will be constantly following
his youth development programs that I will continue with the university’s education as well

32. What do you do for now?

Currently I am student of High School that is at the end just after June. Also, I am searching about
the opportunities to get into the track of career development that is major concern for me these
days. And I am very happy that my research was fruitful for me when I came to know about
turkiyeburslari. And I believe, if I will be successful to win this scholarship, I am 100 % sure that It will
be a life changing experience for me. Moreover, I am taking Personal Grooming classes from Qasim
Ali Shah Foundation. And I also teach English, Maths and Science to small kids.

*FIELD EXPERIENCE*
34. Do you have any field experience?
Though I don’t have any field experience but I am fully aware of the required skills like Leadership
skills, team working skills, communication skills, critical thinking, competent behaviour that I have to
develop during the education period and I believe that all this will not be possible only by getting a
degree. Because, for this, I have to do some extra sessions, extra developmental courses and training
to become a professional member of the field.

35. What work experiences do you have to date?

Teacher for talented pupils

I am working as an Assistant teacher of MATH, ENGLISH and SCIENCES.

ENGLISH TEACHER

SUPREME EDUCATIONAL GLOBAL ASSOCIATES.

After taking two month ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSE from Supreme Educational Global Associates. I
was offered a job as an Assistant teacher but after experiencing ten days, I left the job because of the
family issue.

Assistant online marketer

SPICE AND ICE FOOD COMPANY

When my father fell ill seriously in 2021, I managed his business online advertisements and dealings.

36. What is your biggest achievement and why?

It would have to be my HSSC part 1 results and how I improved throughout the last two year study
period. This is because the year 2020 and 2021 were the most difficult period of time for the entire
world and this was the time when students were at the risk of losing their important time of
learning. But in this period I usually performed well more than any other academic year and I believe
this was only due to my full dedication to the studies. Moreover, in this time period I was also
indulged in some other extra competitions like TOEFL, English Language Course and Hippo English
Olympiad competition. So I think achieving these great grades in the most difficult time period is one
of my biggest achievement.

*RANDOM QUESTION*
40. Tell me about last visit of Erdogan in Pakistan.

RACEP TAYYIB ERDOGAN visited Pakistan two years ago and he addressed to the Pakistani
Parliament and it was his 4th address in the Parliament of Pakistan. His speech was great as always.
In his speech he discussed about the great past of Muslim brotherhood that makes the two nations
ties more strong. He discussed about Zaheer-ud-din Babar and he also talked about the great Allama
Mohammed Iqbal and about his dream of this country. Moreover, he also said that the trade
between Pakistan and Turkiye will increase from 900 Million Dollars to 5 Billion Dollars till 2023 and
then up to 10 Billion Dollars. The starting of ITI train was another great initiative. So, his speech was
a historical speech.
42. We have only limited number of grants We can offer. But there are many applicants for it, why
you should get in instead of somebody else?

I believe I deserve this scholarship for three main reasons.

1) I have planned each and everything what I have to do and what skills I have to develop
during the full scholarship duration. The plans that I have made for my academic courses,
political and historical exposure, personality developments are achievable and I believe I will
achieve these plans successfully if I put myself throughout the scholarship duration.
2) The quality of being competitive in every aspect of my life makes me unique and ready to go
for the new challenges and I believe that this is one of the most required quality if anyone
wants to live and study abroad.
3) Finally, the scholarship is not only a source of education for me but it will also help me to get
experiences that will help me for my profession in future. I know that Turkiyeburslari
conducts several events including motivation and career development camps, cultural
events and recently they conducted an event of Media ministers with TBS international
students that I think is very necessary for students like me. So, these opportunities triggers
my motivation and strength even more and will make me to achieve my goals easily.

44. Do you have any questions to us (the interviewers)?

 In your experience, how a scholarship student can make the best use of this scholarship?
 How can a student get manage to fit into a new culture as soon as possible?

45. What do you like to do in your spare time?

INTERNET: Internet is my favourite hobby on which I like to read and watch biographies of successful
people.

COOKING: Cooking is my 2nd most favourite hobby that I usually practice on weekends. I am good at
baking cakes and biscuits.

TRAVEL: During summer vacation, it is my most favourite hobby which I usually fulfil by visiting
historical places of Islamabad and Lahore.

HANDICRAFTS: It was my most liked activity during the age period of 10-15. I usually made
decorations for my classroom that my teachers mostly liked.

OUTDOOR GAMES: Cricket, football, volleyball are the games which I play almost daily 20-30
minutes.

50. What plans do you have in place to ensure your studies are effective whilst at university?

I believe I know myself pretty well in terms of what works for me whilst studying. I am a firm believer
that quality study is far more better than reading for hours without any attention. I always followed
a proper schedule during my educational life and I think this is what that worked for me and that’s
why I always scored more than 90% in every class without taking any extra coaching from any
teacher after school time but I believe that university’s education is way much difficult than this
college education and I know that I have to do something extra and something unique to get unique
results. I don’t want to pass out as an average student after 4 years of education. I not only will have
to include the degree programs in my learning schedule but I also want to study those core subjects
from the available online international material and more specifically my country’s material that will
help me to connect the ideas of administration of Pakistan and Turkey and I will also come to know
how can I contribute in solving the problems related to Pakistan’s administration after successfully
completing education from Turkiye.
