PROJECT PROGRESS REVIEW REPORT-I

PROJECT TITLE: BidHub (Auction based sale of used goods)

AREA OF WORK: Web Development

TYPE OF MODEL: Web Application

PROJECT AIM & OBJECTIVES

Aim: To provide a platform that facilitate the sale of used goods between senior and junior hostel students.

Project Objectives:

Objective#1: Facilitate seamless interaction.

Objective#2: Promote sustainability.

Objective#3: Build a trusted community.

Objective#4: Enhance campus integration.

PROPOSED DESIGN METHODOLOGY:

Fig. 1: Project Flow Design

Frontend Development:

The development team utilized HTML to establish the fundamental structure and content of the web pages. This
involved creating forms for user interaction, like listing items, submitting bids, and managing accounts.

CSS was implemented to style the web pages, ensuring a visually appealing and user-friendly experience. This
included defining the layout, color schemes, fonts, and responsiveness for various screen sizes.
JavaScript was employed to introduce interactivity to the web pages. This encompassed handling user input, data
validation, and performing asynchronous communication (Ajax requests) with the backend server.

Backend Development:

A Node.js server with Express was established to manage backend logic and API requests. This involved processing
user actions, storing data persistently, and implementing real-time communication through websockets.

Websockets were integrated to facilitate real-time communication between the frontend and backend. This enabled
users to witness updates to item listings and bids instantaneously without manual page refreshes.

A relational database management system (RDS) was set up on an AWS EC2 instance to store application data. This
included item listings, bids, and user information, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.

Additional Considerations (Implemented):

An authentication and authorization system were implemented to restrict access to specific features based on user
credentials.

Security measures were incorporated to safeguard user data and prevent potential hacking attempts.

This approach provided a high-level overview of the development process for the web application utilizing the
mentioned technologies. Specific implementation details would naturally vary depending on the project's unique
requirements.

PROGRESS IN WORK:

With all core functionalities in place, the project is nearing completion the project offers the flexibility to integrate
additional features on an ongoing basis. One such feature being considered is real-time notification for bidders on new
bids for their items.
