ARCE-1352 Final Project Trung Dao, Instr.

Final Project

1) Lay-out foundation floor plan with all grid lines following:

a) Vertical grid lines 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 with the distance between grid line 1-2 = 4-5 =
20’ (feet); grid line 2-3 = 3-4= 30’ (feet)
b) Horizontal grid line A, B, C, and D with distance between grid line AB = CD = 40’
(feet); BC = 80’ (feet)

2) Mark all columns grid lines 1-A, 1-B, 1-C, 1-D and 5-A, 5-B, 5-C, 5-D by TS 6x6x5/8”

3) Mark all the rest of columns grid lines 2-A, 3-A, 4-A, and 2-D, 3-D, 4-D by W18x35

4) Design the min. base plate size for (2) types of columns (TS 6x6x5/8 & W18x35) with
3/4" inches Dia. A325 anchor bolts. (see Min. dimension required on figure A)

5) Layout the steel framing with the grid line 1: A-B, B-C, C-D and grid lines 5: A-B, B-C,
C-D by W8x10. Mark the beams on grid line 2, 3, and 4 from A to D by W24x62

6) Mark the all beams around the building by W12x24 @18’ height (Top of Steel T.O.S.,
see section on figure B)

7) Draw full building framing sections by horizontal and vertical (Low eave height = 20’
@ grid line A&D; slope 1 1/4:12). This is a gable roof (see section on figure C).

8) Draw all typical partial framing sections

9) Design the min. connection slice plate size for beam to beam W24x62 (see figure
D)

10) Draw iso-metric or 3D rendering the building structural framing
