NATURE OF BUSINESS
Hydro Power Equipment (Pty) Ltd has pioneered the use of hydropower as an alternative powering source in mining and industry throughout southern Africa since 1985 and now boasts of exports. The company, through innovative design and engineering excellence has proven the viability, and indeed the necessity, for hydropower as the efficient energy delivery medium for cost-effective mining and industrial water hydraulic systems. As an industry leader, HPE has developed technical strengths and manufacturing expertise which enable the company to remain at the forefront of hydropower innovation, whilst ensuring efficient engineering solutions for its customers.

WHAT IS HYDRO POWER?


Hydropower is the use of high-pressure water (10MPa to 25MPa) to power, drive and operate various items of equipment. Hydropower is an alternate energy source to Compressed air, Oil hydraulics, Electrical and Combustible fuels. Hydropower pressure is

achieved either through gravity, a combination of gravity and pressure generating pumps or pressure generating pumps.

MANUFACTURING
HPEs 3100m assembly facility, with its dedicated CNC machine workshops linked to computer aided design and engineering systems, ensure fast, precise and quality manufacturing. Each step of the companys diverse production processes are closely controlled and monitored. Beginning with raw materials right through to final assembly bays, dedicated inspection personnel ensure a finished product or system, which meets the highest quality and safety standards.

WORKSHOPS
HPE also has various workshops set up at the following mines, Northam Platinum, Tau Lekoa, Beatrix and Kloof Gold Mine. The latest workshop is at Paardekraal Mine in the Rustenburg area. The objective for these workshops is primarily for repairing of HPE equipment. The fact that the workshops are on site brings the turnaround down time on repairs.

TRAINING CENTRE
HPE has its own training centre is Kya Sands. The training centre was set up to empower both HPEs employees and our customers due to the shortage of skills in the industry. HPE train Operatives and Fitters on the operation and maintenance of all HPE equipment before transferring them out to various site and mines.

DESIGN AND ENGINEERING


The HPE Innovation Team in conjunction with the client will look at the challenge and application at hand and turn it into an innovative solution. By sourcing from the existing HPE product range and utilizing the latest Solid Works Computer software, the team will find a safe and workable answer to the customers need. The whole product range is designed by HPE.

PRODUCT AND SOLUTION DEVELOPMENT


Ongoing research and development ensures that the companys product range remains at the leading edge of development, utilizing hydropowered innovations. A dedicated research and test facility enables HPE to continually strive towards new solutions to the industrys demands for enhanced performance and safety.

IMPLEMENTATION
Fundamental to the sustainable success of any new technology is the transfer of Knowledge and Skills to the users hence HPEs implementation team. This team vision is Optimising the performance of HPEs equipment in the hands of the operator The team consists of qualified instructors, trainers and experts who interact with the users daily.

SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT


Over and above the inherent safety features within hydropower technology, users also benefit from the safety enhancing equipment built into the required pipelines and hoses. Further, the enhanced efficiency achieved with hydropower systems reduces the amount of time required at the rock face, limiting the exposure of personnel and equipment to extended periods in high-risk areas. Also of growing interest to industry is the clean, low noise operation facilitated by the use of hydropowered equipment. Particularly when used in confined areas, the absence of noxious fume emissions and coolth is a key consideration for the health and welfare of workers.

ENHANCED PERFORMANCE

SALES, TRAINING AND SERVICE SUPPORT


Customer-focused in structure and attitude, the company achieves exceptional levels of service. Efficient in-house information systems enable application engineers to closely monitor the progress of each order, facilitating accurate reporting and fast response to customer requirements. As an industry leader, HPE is committed to furthering the knowledge and expertise of both its customers and staff in hydropower technology. HPE runs comprehensive training courses within the working environment to instruct customer personnel on the use, maintenance and servicing of hydropower equipment. With the rapid rate in development of new products, HPEs staff are kept up to-date with the necessary information and training on the latest innovations. HPEs goal to ensure total service to their clients has been taken a step further. The company provides 24-hour support through dedicated service engineers who live on-site at key customer installations. These highly trained personnel are on-hand for all customer installation, servicing, fault-finding and maintenance needs day and night. HPE also offers customised repair and service exchange agreements which ensure a minimum down-time for the customer whilst also providing for the constant improvement and upgrading of products and systems.

HPE is ISO and NNR accredited and meets all their standards and requirements.
