Day 1 Science 4

The document outlines a lesson plan for a 4th grade science class about light, heat, and sound. The plan includes objectives, content, activities, and assessments. Students will learn about reflection and refraction of light through experiments and discussions. They will also learn that sound and heat travel in different materials and at different speeds.

lesson
At the end of the topic the learner;
1. Describe how light is reflected or refracted.
Show pictures to the learners.

Ask the learners;

1. What word you can see in the word Teach in its reflection?
2. Can you read the reflection?
3. What does it say?

Activity 1

C. Presenting
Examples/Instances of the New Ask the following;
Lesson 1. Whose group finished first?
2. Whose group consumed a longer time to finish passing the
ball.

Light travels the same as sound and heat. Light travels in straight
lines. Sometimes it bounces back into the direction of the source and
we can call this reflection. Wate, windows, shiny metal, and mirrors
are just some of the many objects that reflect light.
D. Discussing New Concepts and
Practicing New Skills #1 As light travels, it travels in a straight line. However, when light passes
from one material into a second material like mirror or water, the light
path is either bent or reflected back.

Activity 1
Direction:
1. Draw pictures that are symmetrical (two halves that perfectly mirror
E. Discussing New Concepts and each other) like stars, faces.flowers, butterflies etc. Cut the picture into
Practicing New Skills #2 half.
2. Put the mirror next to the half and see its reflection in order to
complete the picture.

Remind the students

F. Values Integration

Activity 2
Direction: From the group activity 1, answer the following questions.
G. Developing Mastery (Leads to Write your answer on your paper.
Formative Assessment 3)
1. What did you observe when you placed the halves of the cut-
outs beside the mirror?
2.
H. Finding Practical Application Ask following question:
and Skills in Daily Living How important is sound to our daily living? Give at least 3 examples

I. Making Generalization and

Abstraction About the Lessons
Sound travels in different materials such as solid, liquid and gas.
When objects make sound, they move back and forth. This movement
is called vibration.
A sound wave travels at different speeds through different media. As
it travels, sound waves are created in response to a variation and how
easily they move back to their original position. Another cause is how
strongly the particles are attached or attracted to each other.

True or False
Write True if the given statement is true and False if it is not. Write
your answer in your notebook .
1. Sounds travel only in solid materials.
2. Vibration is a movement when objects make sound and move
J. Evaluating Learning
back and forth.
3. A sound wave travels at different speeds through different
media.
4. Sound travels in different materials; solid, liquid and gas.
5. In ruler activity, the sound stopped when the movement of the
ruler stopped.

Direction:
K. Additional Activities for Bring a jumping rope to the class that will be used in the next activity
Application or Remediation in Science.
