1. To link your rubric with an assignment, navigate to the link and Edit the assignment.
2. To add the rubric to an assignment/discussion; hover your mouse over Add Rubric and
click on Create New Rubric.
4. In section two, specify the type of Rubric you would like to use for grading: No points,
Points, Point Range, Percent, or Percent Range.
5. To add rows or columns in your rubric, click the appropriate button (e.g. Add Row).
Note: Levels of achievement and criteria will be pre-set; however, these can be
customized by clicking on the action link next to the title of achievement level or criteria
(E.g. Novice) and clicking on Edit.
8. To show the rubric with scores to your students, hover your mouse over the icon below

Safe Assign
10. In the Grading section, enter the Points Possible for the assignment (required), and
select Submission Details.
11. Click Submission Details, and under Plagiarism Tools, check the two Safe Assign boxes
(Check submissions for plagiarism and Allow students to view SafeAssign originality
report). Note: Check the third box (Exclude submissions from the Institutional and
Global References Databases) only if the submission is a draft.
b. Display of Grades: This feature allows you to choose how you would like the
grades to display in the grade center (score, letter, percentage, etc.)
Note: At this time, please click the below icon to enter Student Preview, and submit an
assignment in the dropbox you have just created. Once finished, exist Student Preview
and go to Grade Center > Needs Grading.
3. Click the arrow on the column heading for the assignment you wish to grade, and select
Grade Attempts.
You can now Comment, Draw, Highlight, add Text, or Strikeout text.
Comment
Clicking the arrow next to the Comment button lets you choose a Point Comment, Area
Comment, or Text Comment. A Point Comment allows you to mark a single point and leave a
comment at that point.
An Area Comment allows you to select a rectangular area of any size and leave a comment.
For any type of comment, you can delete the comment by moving the mouse over it and
clicking Delete.
Draw
Clicking the Draw button will allow you draw freehand over any portion of the document.
When you are done with a drawing, click Complete underneath it. From that point, even if your
drawing consists of multiple lines, you can move it around the document as a whole.
Add Text
Clicking the Text button will allow you to add standalone text anywhere in the document. In
addition, after you finish typing, you are able to move the text around the document.
5. After adding all of your feedback, you may also download the original file or an
annotated PDF version with your feedback by clicking the Download ( ) button, if you
wish.
6. Once you have completed your feedback on the actual document, you may enter a
grade for the Attempt and any general Comments on the right side of the screen.
10. In the full grade center, hover your mouse over the cell of the submission you wish to
grade, click on the action link within the cell and click on Attempt.
