and awareness in Hong Kong. You are an assistant to Atticus Wong, the chairperson of the organization. Atticus
has asked you to do some tasks.

Mind HK
Listening service
Hi Nicola,
Thanks for agreeing to help me. Here are the three things I’d like you to do.
Firstly, please write a post for Mind HK website celebrating our 10-year anniversary. Include details of our
history, the services we provided when we first started the company and services we currently provide for the
participating schools. Then, give an overview of our achievements. End the post by writing about how we
plan on celebrating the 10th anniversary of our company. You can start by checking the ‘About Us’ page on
our website, our meeting minutes and the folder that stores our certificates.
Once you’ve finished that, please write a letter to the editor responding to the accusations The Daily
Chronicles made about our ambassador, Kenneth Kwan, in their recent article. Please address the accusations
that they made in the article and include Kenneth’s defense against the accusations.
Lastly, you need to help our Teen Mental Health Counselor, Joanna Ma to write a short speech, which will
be delivered at the opening of a discussion forum called "Unplugged Minds: A Forum on Social Media
Addiction and Mental Health". In the speech, Ms Ma would like to discuss the mental health problem in Hong
Kong and introduce the social media addiction campaign we will organize. Ms. Ma has already written the
introduction of the speech to help you get started.
I suggest that you listen to Empowered Minds podcast. It mentions a few things that will help you with these
tasks.
Best regards,
Atticus Wong

About Us
Meeting minutes
Date and time: Monday November 20, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
Venue: Meeting Room 3B, Mind HK Main Office
In attendance: Atticus Wong (AW)
Nicola Chan (NC)
Casey Chau (CC)
Joyce Leung (JL)
Susie Poon (SP)
1. Confirmation of minutes
2. 10-year Anniversary
SP gave a brief description confirming the arrival of the giveaway candles, but the candles smelt
strange. She will apply for a refund on the order. JL proposed hosting a massive giveaway of
trendy and stylish tote bags. The committee agreed.
To celebrate our company’s 10th anniversary, CC will set up a page for the giveaway. People will
have to apply to get the bag on the site www.mindhk.com.hk/ten. JL suggested setting up a dedicated
phone line for the giveaway but AW said that Mind HK would not have the manpower to handle that
many phone calls.
3. Kenneth Kwan’s Scandal
AW brought to our attention the false accusations by The Daily Chronicles about Kenneth, our
ambassador regarding his dark past as a bully. NC opined that the organization would issue a letter
to publicly supporting Kenneth. We should let the public know the reasons why we chose Kenneth
as our ambassador and the stance we take regarding his role as our ambassador. CC suggested
adding whether internet users support Kenneth to be our ambassador to aid with the point. All
agreed that this would be a nice gesture.
4. Social Media Addiction Campaign
SP provided an update on the campaign preparations. She reported that she had contacted Professor
Matthew Lee Kwok On from City University of Hong Kong to give a talk on “Navigating the
Digital Maze: Finding Balance in the Social Media Era” for the kick-off event. All agreed that the
talk is meaningful and useful.
5. Tech-Free Adventures
AW proposed an activity called ‘Tech-Free Adventure’ to be held during the Social Media
Addiction Campaign. He brought to our attention to encourage participants to disconnect from
screens and engage in activities that promote real-world connections.
NC opined that this would be difficult as it requires a lot of manpower. She also pointed out that it
is difficult to know what activities the participants like to do instead of going online. AW proposed
sending a Google Form to participants providing them with a list of suggested tech-free adventures,
such as hiking, having a picnic in a local park, or exploring nearby nature trails, prior to the activity.
We can encourage them to choose an adventure that resonates with their interests and preferences.
The meeting unanimously accepted the proposal.
New meeting will be held on Tue, 27 November 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
A.O.B.
There being no other business, the meeting finished at 4:25 p.m.
Susie: Hi everybody. We have a lot to cover today. First things first, let's address the recent discussions
surrounding Kenneth Kwan. What are your thoughts on the accusations against him? Do you believe
they are serious enough to warrant his removal as our ambassador?
Alex: That newspaper has a history of fabricating stories to generate more views. Personally, I don't think there's
any need to remove him as our celebrity representative based on these accusations alone.
Susie: I share the same sentiment. I have faith in Kenneth's ability to fulfil his role as our ambassador effectively.
Alex: I'm glad to hear that. I truly believe he is the right person for the job.
Stacy: Great. Let’s move on to the Social Media Addiction Campaign then. I think it might be hypocritical of
us to do all our marketing on social media, considering we're advocating for teens to reduce screen time.
Percy: You're right, Stacy. We should explore other avenues to spread awareness. What if we incorporate a
"Tech-Free Adventure" as part of the campaign? It could provide a hands-on experience for participants
to disconnect from screens and engage in activities that promote real-world connections.
Alex: That's a fantastic idea, Percy. We could organize a series of tech-free adventures, such as hiking, outdoor
workshops, and creative activities. It will help participants experience the benefits of being present and
disconnected from social media.
Susie: I love the concept of a "Tech-Free Adventure"! It aligns perfectly with our campaign's goals. We have
already conducted a Google Form survey among participants, asking for suggestions for tech-free
adventures. The response was overwhelming, and we now have a list of recommended activities that
resonate with teens. I'm thrilled to announce that these suggestions will be incorporated into our
campaign, giving participants a diverse range of engaging and meaningful experiences.
Percy: That's fantastic news, Stacy! It's great to involve the participants and cater to their interests. By
incorporating their suggestions, we can ensure that the campaign resonates with them on a deeper level.
Susie: Absolutely, Percy. Now, I also want to remind Joanna Ma, our speaker at the opening of the discussion
forum called "Unplugged Minds: A Forum on Social Media Addiction and Mental Health," to talk about
reasons why teens are so addicted to social media and mention the particular activity that most teens
enjoy. By highlighting this activity in her speech, we can create anticipation and excitement among the
attendees, encouraging them to actively participate in the forum's discussions.
Comments
Dan123 – It is important to recognize that everyone has a past, including moments they may not be proud of.
Those who are criticizing Kenneth may perhaps be driven by jealousy, unable to grasp the concept of second
chances and the potential for personal growth and success.
MarkW - @Dan123, your views seem to be in the minority on this matter. It is highly unlikely that you support
bullying in schools. If Mind HK genuinely aims to promote the importance of well-being in teenagers, they
should reconsider using Kenneth, a former bully, as their ambassador for any public events.
ekamouse – @Dan123 Absolutely! It's encouraging to see someone standing up for giving people an
opportunity to change and grow. We all deserve a second chance in life. I commend your support for Kenneth
and your willingness to participate in Mind HK's activities. Let's continue to support each other in fostering
positive change and well-being.
Dear Kenneth,
We want to assure you that there is no need for you to step down. Your dedicated work with us for the
past three years speaks for itself, and we have full confidence in your integrity. We stand firmly by your
side and will assert that the accusations made against you are false. Our unwavering support for you
remains unchanged.
In light of the recent article, we have involved Nicola Chan, who will be crafting MindHK’s official
response. Rest assured, we will not disclose any details regarding your legal plans. Your well-being is of
utmost importance to us.
Please take care of yourself, and know that we continue to hold you in high regard.
Warmest regards,
Atticus
