Operational Procedure - Sheet Metal Project

1 1 Obtain a piece of ½ inch metal tube, 6 inches long Steel Rule, Pencil, Chop Saw.
2 Remove all sharp edges. Flat File, Round File.
2 1 Obtain a piece of ½ inch mild steel bar, 6 inches long Steel Rule, Pencil, Chop Saw.
2 Remove all sharp edges. Flat File.
3 Bend the steel bar as per diagram. Bench Vice, Ball Pein Hammer.
3 1 Obtain a piece of 18 gage sheet metal, 6 inches x 7¾ inches. Steel Rule, Scriber, Foot Operated Shears.
2 Remove excess material along the cut lines. Foot Operated Shears.
3 Remove all sharp edges. Flat File.
4 Roll the piece of sheet metal along the bend line. Slip Roll Machine.
Assembly
1 Position and weld all components as per diagram. Electric Arc Welding Machine, 12gage - 6013
Welding Electrode, Welding Helmet.
Surface Preparation
1 Remove all flux, spatter, scale and rust from all surfaces. Chipping Hammer, Electric Grinder, Wire Cup
Brush.
Surface coating
1 Apply a coat of metal primer to all surfaces. Metal Primer, Paint Thinner, Paint Brush.
2 Apply a coat of metal paint to all surfaces. Metal Paint, Paint Thinner, Paint Brush.

Please Note: The use of Safety Goggles and Rubber Dotted Gloves is necessary throughout the entire process.

2 Remove all sharp edges. Flat File, Round File.
3 Mark out and layout the hole to be drilled. Engineer’s Square, Steel Rule, Scriber, Chalk, Centre
Punch.
4 Drill a ¼ inch hole as per diagram. Drilling Machine, ¼ Inch Twist Drill, Chuck Key.

2 Remove all sharp edges. Flat File.
3 1 Obtain a piece of 3/16 inch thick mild steel flat, 2½ inches long Steel Rule, Pencil, Chop Saw.
2 Remove all sharp edges. Flat File, Round File.
