Introduction
What is a Venn Diagram?
A diagram used to represent all possible relations of different sets. Venn diagram can be represented by
any closed figure, whether it be a Circle or a Polygon (square, hexagon, etc.). But usually, we use
circles to represent each set.

In the above figure, we can see a Venn diagram, represented by a rectangular universal set, which has
two independent sets X and Y. The two sets X and Y are represented in the circular shape.

 How to draw a Venn diagram?

Type-1: Take a look upon various possible cases of venn diagram and know when it is applicable.
Among three columns, first one shows the type of venn diagram, second one is for description and third
one sites an example to give a clear picture of the description.

Venn diagram Applicable cases Example

There will be a series of sub cases Colour > Green > light green. Light green
one under another. colour is a sub part of green colour and
both of them belongs to colour group.

One main category, under it two sub Liquids > Petrol, Diesel. Here both are
categories and both bear some flammables in nature, thus bear similarity.
similarities among them.

One category may have one sub Vegetable > Capsicum > Red. Some
category. They both partially satisfy capsicums are red and so as some other
some conditions (not always). vegetables.

Among three different sections, two Actor > Headmaster > Queen. From the

properties which is just opposite to Queen.

Three sections having no common Tree > Angry > Coffee. There is no logic of
feature. finding any common aspect among above
three terms.

There is a chance of finding a Mother > Step mother > Sister-in law. A
common place that satisfies all the single woman can be all of the above said
properties of three individual sections. simultaneously.

This is particular for those cases in Tree > banana tree > Angry. We all know
which out of three sections, two are banana tree is coming under tree category
inter-related as parent child but emotion” Angry” has nothing to do with
relationship, whereas third one has these 2 words.
no relation with them.

Type-2: Another type of question that often comes under this chapter is intersection of various
geometric structures. Each geometric structures will be having some elements of their own and each
structure will bear some characteristics or class. Intersection of two or more structures will give an
amalgamation that will change the property of each previous element by something new.
