Lecture 6 Elementary Applications EE

The document provides examples and explanations of Newton's Law of Cooling and applications of differential equations related to growth and decay. It discusses how to solve problems involving rates of change in temperature over time based on an object's temperature and the temperature of the surrounding medium. Examples are given to demonstrate solving for temperature at a given time and the time taken for an object's temperature to reach a specified value.

It is known from the result of chemical experimentation that, in certain reactions in which substance A is being
converted into another substance, the time rate of change of the amount x of unconverted substance is proportional
to x.
