EQUIPMENT PROTECTION
1 . N e v e r a l l o w a s m a l l s p o t of high brilliance to remain s t a -
t i o n a r y o n t h e s c r e e n for m o r e t h a n a f e w s e c o n d s . T h e
s c r e e n m a y b e c o m e permanently burned. A spot will oc-
c u r only w h e n t h e s c o p e is s e t up for X - Y operation a n d
no signal is applied. Either reduce the intensity s o the spot
is barely v i s i b l e , s w i t c h b a c k to normal s w e e p operation
w h e n n o s i g n a l i s a p p l i e d , or s e t u p t h e s c o p e f o r s p o t
blanking.
2 . N e v e r c o v e r the ventilating holes on the top of the oscil-
loscope, a s this will increase the operating temperature

der t e s t . W i t h o u t t h i s c a u t i o n , the entire current for the
e q u i p m e n t under t e s t m a y be d r a w n t h r o u g h t h e probe
clip leads under c e r t a i n c i r c u m s t a n c e s . S u c h conditions
could also pose a s a f e t y hazard, w h i c h the ground cable
will prevent.

3 . A t t a c h the 4 c o r n e r s of the retainer plate to the oscillo-
scope case with the 4 nylon rivets supplied.
4 . A t t a c h the p o u c h to t h e retainer plate u s i n g the s n a p
fastener.
