Top tips for Zoom

To help you get settled into your Induction and placement sessions as quickly as
possible, we’ve put together a list with some top tips…
• When you join remember to mute your line (in the bottom left corner of the screen)
to limit background noise. We’ll let you know when to unmute yourself to participate
in any discussions
• Remember to join your sessions a few minutes early to avoid missing out on any information
• If you need to quickly step away from the session, you can turn your video on and off. You’re
encouraged to keep the video option on as much as possible
• Check the staging of your video area, remember that people will be able to see you and your
surroundings!
• Your video quality will be improved with more lighting
• Try to look into the camera throughout the session and when speaking to your colleagues
• Make sure to fit in a Zoom test-run ahead of your first session, just to check you’re familiar with
how to open a Zoom meeting and know how to activate your audio and video settings. Your
buddy can help by joining this practice run too
• We appreciate that when joining from home you won’t want to be fully suited and booted for a
day in the office! So casual or smart wear is perfectly fine
