These are called prepositions ma’am.

Great, why do we use them? We use them ma’am to tell the time and
to indicate where a thing is located.

That’s good to hear you’re familiar

with prepositions which means

Yes, the word at, in to, by, over,

many more out there.

Precisely speaking prepositions

So prepositional phrase

= preposition+ object
If we say object, it is a person or
thing that receives the action of
the verb. It is the who or what

sentence is about.
 Carried is the verb: it is the
action being performed by
the subject
 Trash is the object: it is
‘what’ is the subject is

And the object?
Ma’am ‘drums’ is the object
Okay, that is the object in the
sentence. Now let’s try to identify
the prepositional phrase in the

In that sentence what is the

prepositional phrase? Where is
the puppy? Ma’am on the floor is the prepositional
phrase.
Very good! Next, what does our
example number 2 says? Ma’am example number 2, is he pulled a
box from his coat pocket.
Thank you, the question is where
did he pull a box? Ma’am, from his coat pocket.

Indeed, that’s what we call a

prepositional phrase.

Now let’s break down

prepositional phrases.

The first prepositional phrase is

an adjective phrase. If we say an Ma’am adjective phrase is a prepositional

example: She worked in the
building with the red tower.
The question is which one does
she work with? The one with the red tower!

So, the adjective phrase is ‘with

Let’s go to the adverb phrase. An adverb phrase is a prepositional

phrase used to describe a verb, an
adjective, or another adverb in the
sentence. A preposition used as an
adverb will answer questions such as
“How?” “When? “or “Where?”
For example, she wrote with care.
With care ma’am.
How did she write?

With care now, is the adverb

phrase.

Next example, John lee goes to
