Hello and welcome, welcome to the VIP Program. Don’t miss speaking English fluently. Don’t
miss the chance to speak English powerfully, to speak persuasively, but more than that don’t
miss the chance to live the life that you dream, the life that you want, the lifestyle you want in
terms of money and work, of course; the kind of relationships and family you want. The feelings
you want to feel usually, a happy life. Respect, having the respect of those you work with, of
those you’re friends with, of those around you.
You can train to get these things there’s still time, it doesn’t matter your age. We have VIP
members of all different ages, very young to old. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if you’re in
your teens or if you’re in your 80s and 90s, doesn’t matter. As long as you’re alive you still have
time, don’t’ miss the chance to get these things that you want.
In the VIP program you will train, you will train to speak English fluently and powerfully and
persuasively. Every day you’re going to listen to all of the audios in the lesson unit. You’re going
to do this daily. This’ll be about an hour, possibly hour and a half a day. I recommend two hours
a day if you have the time. Daily, daily training. Listening, listening, listening, repetition is the
mother of skill so repetition is your friend, repeat the same lesson every day for 10 days. This on
you’re going to repeat for 10 days to 14 days or more if you want to.
You’re going to get more than English. You’ll notice you’re going to get more than just English
training. You will learn to speak English powerfully when you stay in the VIP program. You need
about 6-12 months at least, so commit, decide, focus. Put in the time every single day. You’re
also going to see that you’ll learn a lot more than just English. You’re going to learn a lot more
that will help you live the life of your dreams, the life that you want, whatever that is.
Now, in our first lesson here we’re going to listen to Mr. Tony Robbins, a great coach and
motivational speaker and businessman, and “m going to use what’s called the movie technique,
so I’m going to play little parts of this video. First I’m going to play all of it. It’s an interview. Then
I’m going to go back and then I’ll pause after each sentence and explain what he’s saying. And
then in the commentary I’ll talk even more about the ideas.
So let’s go now to this interview with Mr. Tony Robbins’. He’s giving an interview about his life.
*****
Every day I say look, you gotta have 10 minutes for yourself. If you don’t have 10 minutes for
yourself you don’t have a life and I’m not going to hope I feel good. I just got back from 6
countries in 12 days, I was in India two days ago. I woke up here feeling like someone ran
me over with a truck. The way I did is I do this process, it’s 10 minutes I put some music on. I
do this massive change in my breathing so it radically changes the way I feel and then I do
this three-step process.
First I do three minutes of gratitude where I think of three things I’m really grateful for and I
don’t think of it like that I feel it, and the reason is, when you’re grateful you can’t be worried.
You can’t be fearful. When you’re grateful you can’t be angry and anger and fear are what
screw people up most in their relationships, their life and their business. So I wire myself. I
was saying to you that most people want to be happy, but their habit is to be worried or
pissed off or frustrated or stressed and so they’ve got a highway to stress and they’ve got a
dirt road to happiness.
So I wire myself, I have a highway to gratitude which changes all your emotions, and then I
do a three minute process of kind of a prayer for my family and friends and then I do a three
minute process of the top three things I want to accomplish, I see it as done and I feel it, and
I’m done in 10 minutes. Sometimes I go 20, but my deal is 10 so there’s no excuse not to do
it.
Listen, we’ve all had times when you’ve snapped at somebody and you felt bad because it
wasn’t them it was the state that you’re in. Well there’s no excuse for that. If you prime
yourself. If you set yourself up… they’ve done studies where they go to people and they have
a man walk up to you and say, could you hold this for me and he hands you a cup of coffee.
It’s an actor and then he takes something out of his pocket, then he takes it back and says
thank you.
A hundred people they do it with ice coffee. A hundred people they do it with hot coffee.
Forty-five minutes later another actor comes by and says, listen, we’re doing this little test.
For $5 would you read these three paragraphs and answer three questions? Most people say
yes. It’s a little story, the questions are about the character. What’s the character like? Eighty
percent of the people that got ice coffee say the person is cold and mean. Eighty-one percent
of the people that got hot coffee say the person is warm and gentle or nice. That’s how much
we can be primed by our environment.
We think we’re just feeling what we’re feeling, but our environment, if we don’t take control of
our environment it takes control of us.
Pretty wild Tony, this is easy for you to say, you look like an investment banker. You
probably have a Masters from Harvard. I bet you have three degrees from Harvard.
Well, I was going to USC I wanted to be a sports… I was taking journalism, I was going to get
a scholarship and then I had some major challenges in my family I had to take care of and
then my mom got very upset. I have four different fathers, so I kind of had to take over. So I
went and started my first business at 17.
It was working for a man named Jim Rohn and then I started off and became a seminar
broker. I actually filled other people’s seminar events, and then I got better than the people I
was promoting and after a while I decided heck I should do my own and then I began to just
expand and do work. When I started turning around athletes, Olympic athletes and I got to
Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa and then I got to President Clinton and it grew, grew, grew.
In fact, what was Mother Teresa doing wrong before she met you?
She was in San Diego, and I don’t know if you remember years ago she got very ill and they
rushed her to the hospital, and I guess like three days into it she left in the middle of the
night. Can you imagine you’re the hospital and you lose Mother Teresa? She wrote a note
that said, thank you for your help but I have to help people that are in need, I can’t sit here
and she went across the border to Mexico. She said if you really want to help don’t send me
a hospital send me a mobile medical unit.
So, in those days I was friends with a very famous actor and he and I were both fans of hers.
I said why don’t we just go buy this, you and I, don’t do a press conference, just drive it
across the border and let’s give it to her. We got a chance to visit with her. Anyway, bottom
line we did and when I was with her I said to her, I said, it’s such a pleasure to meet you. I
always want to learn about people so I’d say, what juices you? What excites you? What
makes you more excited than anything else? I’m thinking, juice you, a nun, maybe not the
best term. She looked at me and said, and I’ll never forget, she said Tony, what excites me
most is to see a person die with a smile on their face. I was like wow, not number one on my
list but I’m impressed. She was an amazing woman.
So Tony, one of the critics actually that I once met said yeah, Tony’s techniques they
were great for about a year and a half and then they wore off. What do you say to folks who
say that?
It’s real simple, if you don’t workout you don’t get a muscle so I always tell people, there’s a
daily practice like priming. If you don’t do that, if you get up and you have no discipline
whatsoever you get no value of anything. Diets don’t work when you don’t do them. Exercise
doesn’t work when you don’t do it. Most of the people have experiences that they want to
shift and once you shift those things your whole life changes, but life is constant growth. My
life isn’t here because I went to one seminar one time and now my life if fit for life.
I work out. I train my mind. I train my body. It becomes a lifestyle it’s not that you’re
depending on somebody else. I’m not here to become somebody’s guru.
*******
All right let’s stop there. Now, he can speak quite quickly as you may have noticed, so if you did
not understand some of that, if you did not understand a lot of it, don’t worry. Nothing to get
stressed about. Nothing to get worried about. That’s why I’m here, so let’s go back to the
beginning and let’s go through this more slowly.
So now we’re gonna go just sentence by sentence and I will play a sentence and then I’ll repeat
it and then I’ll explain it.
Every day I say look, you’ve got to have 10 minutes for yourself.
Every day I say, you’ve got to – means you must. You’ve got to have 10 minutes for yourself
and then he says, if you don’t have 10 minutes for yourself you don’t have a life. Ten minutes for
yourself right, it just means time for yourself alone, to take care of yourself right, without having
to worry about anyone else, not kids, no one else. Ten minutes just to take care of yourself.
If you don’t have 10 minutes for yourself you don’t have a life and I’m not going to hope I feel
good. I just got back from 6 countries in 12 days.
He says I’m not going to hope I feel good, I just got back from 6 countries in 12 days. So he’s
been traveling a lot internationally. So he’s saying I’m not going to hope that I feel good. In other
words, he’s going to make sure, he’s going to guarantee that he feels good by doing something.
He’s going to choose to feel good and he’s going to tell us how.
I was in India two days ago. I woke up here feeling like someone ran me over with a truck.
He says I was in India two days ago, now he’s in New York. He said I woke up feeling like
someone ran over me with a truck. It’s an image, a metaphor, feeling like he got hit by a truck
because he feels so, so, so tired when he woke up.
She said, but you got yourself psyched up. To get yourself psyched up means to get yourself
excited. He got himself excited and he says yes, how I do this is I have a process. A process is
like a system. He has a system to make himself feel good.
It’s 10 minutes I put some music on. I do this massive change in my breathing…
So the first part he says it’s 10 minutes long. Every day he does this in the morning. The first
part he puts some music on, some energetic, happy fun music and then he changes his
breathing. He does deep breathing. So very kind of deep breathing. Some people call this yoga
breathing because in yoga they have these breathing exercises, so he does this deep breathing
with some energetic music. That’s the first part.
It radically changes the way I feel. Radically means in a big, big way. In a huge way. It totally
changes the way he feels, not just a little bit.
Then I do a three step process. After he gets the music going he has three more steps.
First I do three minutes of gratitude where I think of three things I’m really grateful for.
First I do three minutes of gratitude where I think of three things I’m really, really grateful for.
That’s the first thing he does in the morning after he gets himself with the breathing and the
music. He feels energized, then he focuses on gratitude. So about three minutes he thinks just
what am I grateful for in my life? What do I appreciate in my life? What’s good in my life? Or,
who do I appreciate?
So he’s saying, I associate it, means I connect with it. I don’t feel it over there. He means he
doesn’t imagine it like it’s far away, he brings the feeling close, the feeling of gratitude, of
appreciation. He brings it inside him, so he really feels it strongly. He makes himself feel the
gratitude not just, like this far away feeling, but a very close, powerful feeling, emotion.
And the reason is, when you’re grateful you can’t be worried.
And the reason is when you’re grateful you cannot be worried. So he’s saying, gratitude is the
opposite of fear. When you’re in the moment right now, when you’re feeling very grateful and
appreciative you’re not feeling afraid.
And anger and fear are what screw people up most. Anger and fear are what screw people up
most. Screw people up means cause problems for people. If you screw up it means you make a
mistake. So if something screws people up it makes mistakes in their life, it makes their life have
problems.
In their relationships, in their life and their business… all these areas. When people get angry or
fearful that’s when they do stupid things.
I wire myself. This is kind of slang a little bit. I wire myself, means I program myself, I program
myself, like a computer. It’s not accidental. He’s programming his brain, his emotions every
morning.
Most people want to be happy, but their habit is to be worried or pissed off or frustrated
So he’s saying most people want to be happy. You want to be happy, but their habit is to be
pissed off which means angry. Pissed off is kind of a casual way to say angry. So they have a
habit of being angry or fearful or whatever, worried or stressed.
So they’ve got a highway to stress and they’ve got a dirt road to happiness.
They’ve got a highway to stress but a dirt road to happiness. So this is just another image like
a… we call a metaphor right, it’s just comparing. Highway means it’s very fast, the fast path, a
fast road to feeling stress or unhappy. And a dirt road, you can imagine a dirt road, if a cars on a
dirt road it’s very slow, so it’s a slow path. It’s difficult for them to feel happy, but very easy to
feel stressed or angry or worried.
He says I wire myself again. I program myself to have a highway to gratitude so that I very
easily feel gratitude because it’s a habit, I do it every day so I’m used to feeling grateful.
Which changes all your emotions, and then I do a three minute process of kind of a prayer for
my family and friends
And then his second part is I do a three minute process, another three minute system of doing a
prayer for my family and friends. So he’s praying to God for his family and for his friends to be
happy which again is a kind of gratitude right?
And then I do a three minute process of the top three things I want to accomplish.
Then the final part, the final three minutes I do a three minute process of focusing on the three
things I want to accomplish this day. So his three most important goals for the day. So he thinks
okay what, what do I really want to accomplish today; the three most important things?
I see it as done…
And I see it as done. So he’s like, I imagine that I have already finished those three important
things.
So sometimes I go 20, sometimes I go, meaning I do this for 20 minutes because sometimes it
feels so good he does it longer. He says but my deal, my deal with myself, my promise to myself
is 10 minutes, 10 minutes at least.
You know what, I think it’s a great way to kind of set the tone for the day.
It does.
It’s a great way to set the tone for the day. Set the tone means create the emotion, right. Create
the attitude. Create the mindset for the day. That’s what set the tone means, create a mindset.
Create an attitude. So, by doing this in the morning and right at the beginning he’s creating his
mindset, his attitude for the whole day. Sets the tone.
Listen, we’ve all had times when you’ve snapped at somebody and you felt bad because it
wasn’t them it was the state that you’re in.
We’ve all had times where you snapped at someone, but it wasn’t them it was the state that you
were in. To snap at someone means to say something negative or angry at someone suddenly.
You say, stop doing that! If maybe a child’s making some noise and instead of being quiet;
please stop that, you just snap. It means sudden anger comes out, to snap. You snap at
someone. You say something angry suddenly at someone. He says sometimes we do that and
it’s just because we’re in a bad state. A state means emotional feeling, again, a mindset, an
attitude.
Well there’s no excuse for that. If you prime yourself. If you set yourself up…
He’s like there’s no excuse for that, if you prime yourself, if you set yourself up, meaning the
same thing, it means prepare yourself. If you prime yourself it means if you prepare yourself, if
you create this mindset at the beginning then you won’t snap like that.
They’ve done studies where they go to people and they have a man walk up to you and say,
could you hold this for me and he hands you a cup of coffee.
So there’ve been studies where they come up and ask somebody, an actor says will you hold
this cup of coffee and half the people get ice coffee and half the people get hot coffee. I’ll
explain all of this because this isn’t so important. So they do that then later another actor comes
up[ and they ask them, please read this story. So they read a story about some character doing
something. Then they ask questions about the characters in the story.
They say, were these characters warm and friendly or were they cold and unfriendly? What’s
interesting about the study is that the people who got the ice coffee 45 minutes earlier, right,
unconnected. They described the character usually as cold and unfriendly. And the people who
got the hot coffee, who held the hot coffee 45 minutes earlier, they described the character as
warm and friendly. So he’s saying, this shows how something so small just holding a cold drink
or a hot drink, how this can create a kind of mindset. It can prime you. It can prepare your
emotions. It can create your emotions and 45 minutes later for something completely different
you still have a different attitude, depending on if you held the cold cup or the hot cup.
So he’s just showing with this story the power of this, of ‘in the beginning of the day’ creating
positive strong emotions, because then that will affect your whole day. You’ll see everything the
rest of the day in a more positive way. You’ll be more confident for the whole day. You’ll be
more disciplined for the whole day. That’s the point of this story. So I’m going to play the rest of
the story now.
It’s an actor and then he takes something out of his pocket, then he takes it back and says
thank you. A hundred people they do it with ice coffee. A hundred people they do it with hot
coffee. Forty-five minutes later another actor comes by and says, listen, we’re doing this little
test. For $5 would you read these three paragraphs and answer three questions? Most people
say yes. It’s a little story, the questions are about the character. What’s the character like?
Eighty percent of the people that got ice coffee say the person is cold and mean. Eighty-one
percent of the people that got hot coffee say the person is warm and gentle or nice. That’s how
much we can be primed by our environment.
We think we’re just feeling what we’re feeling, but our environment, if we don’t take control of
our environment it takes control of us.
So important, he says if we don’t take control of our environment, our environment takes control
of us. This is the big point. So he’s saying if we don’t choose to create positive emotions, strong
emotions, gratitude, prayer, power, confidence, then the environment will affect us, people
around us, whatever’s happening. So we need to choose and do it ourselves.
This is easy for you to say, you look like an investment banker.
Look at you you’re like an investment banker. You probably have a degree from Harvard. He’s
saying it’s easy for you. He’s joking this interviewer because he knows Tony does not have a
college degree.
You probably have a Masters from Harvard. I bet you have three degrees from Harvard.
I was going to USC I wanted to be, and he stops. He says I was studying sports journalism.
USC is University of Southern California.
I was going to get a scholarship and then I had some major challenges in my family…
I was getting a scholarship means he was getting money, free money, but then he had major
challenges in his family. Here challenges means problems.
… and then my mom got very upset. I have four different fathers,
My mom got very upset. I had four different fathers. His mom was always breaking up with all
these guys and Tony would get a new dad as he was growing up. Very tough childhood.
So I kind of had to take over. So I went and started my first business at 17.
He said I had to take over. It means I had to take control. I had to take control of my life and at
age 17 I started my first business.
It was working for a man named Jim Rohn and then I became a broker. A broker is like a
salesman.
And then I started off and became a seminar broker. I actually filled other people’s seminar
events.
A seminar broker, so he was… I filled other people’s seminar events. So he would work with
another speaker and then he would sell tickets to the speaker’s events and then he says I
became really good at that. So good I started to do my own seminars.
I decided heck, I should do my own. Heck is a very polite way to say hell which just shows
emotion.
When I started turning around athletes, Olympic athletes and I got to Nelson Mandela, Mother
Teresa and then I got to President Clinton and it grew, grew, grew.
I started turning around athletes, turning around here means helping them change their lives,
changing for the positive right. It means their life was bad, something bad is happening. And
then I would turn them around, means I would help them change and get a good result.
In fact, what was Mother Teresa doing wrong before she met you?
Then this guy jokes, what was Mother Teresa doing wrong before she met you? This guy’s
joking again, because he didn’t help Mother Teresa doing anything, he just met her. Then he
tells a story how Mother Teresa was sick, seriously sick. She was in the hospital in San Diego
where Tony used to live and then one day she just left the hospital. She just left she didn’t want
to stay there anymore. She left a note saying, I can’t stay here I need to help people and she
went down to Mexico. She said if you want to help me send a mobile medical unit. Mobile
means can move. Medical unit… it basically means an ambulance, maybe a bit nicer than that.
It’s like a truck or a car that has medical equipment.
And then Tony said, I had an actor friend who was very famous and we liked Mother Teresa, so
we bought this mobile medical unit, basically a medical car or truck and we drove it down. WE
took it down to Mexico where Mother Teresa was. So we got to meet her and we gave this to
her so she could get healthcare while she was down there helping people.
She was in San Diego, and I don’t know if you remember years ago she got very ill and they
rushed her to the hospital, and I guess like three days into it she left in the middle of the night.
Can you imagine you’re the hospital and you lose Mother Teresa? She wrote a note that said,
thank you for your help but I have to help people that are in need, I can’t sit here and she went
across the border to Mexico. She said if you really want to help don’t send me a hospital send
me a mobile medical unit.
So, in those days I was friends with a very famous actor and he and I were both fans of hers. I
said why don’t we just go buy this, you and I, don’t do a press conference, just drive it across
the border and let’s give it to her. We got a chance to visit with her.
Let’s just don’t do a press conference, no publicity. Let’s just drive it across the border and give
it to her and so they did.
When he met Mother Teresa he said, what excites you? What juices you? To juice you, to get
juiced means to get excited, to get really excited. I’m so juiced about this. He jokes. This is kind
of slang so maybe it wasn’t a god word to use with Mother Teresa.
She looked at me and said, and I’ll never forget, she said Tony, what excites me most is to see
a person die with a smile on their face.
So what excites me most is to see a person die with a smile on my face. That was Mother
Teresa’s answer. He says, that’s not my first answer right, because like seeing someone die.
Most people it doesn’t make them feel happy, because the idea is that they felt at peace as they
were dying. At peace with God, at peace with themselves.
I was like wow, not number one on my list but I’m impressed. She was an amazing woman.
So Tony, one of the critics actually that I once met said yeah, Tony’s techniques they
were great for about a year and a half and then they wore off.
Another critic, another kind of joke, Tony’s techniques they work for a year and a half but then
they wore off. To wear off means to stop working, they stopped working. So basically, someone
is criticizing Tony saying okay, his motivation, his techniques they are effective but only for like a
year, or a year and a half and after that they stop working.
So he’s saying it’s just like your mental performance, your emotional performance, it’s just like
your physical performance. If you don’t workout, if you don’t exercise you don’t get results. You
cannot workout just one time and expect to get great results, you have to do it right. You have to
train every day, every day, every day. He’s saying it’s the same with your mind, it’s the same
with your emotions.
There’s a daily practice like priming, like his morning routine, his morning system. You’ve gotta
do it daily just like VIP right, you’ve gotta listen to these audios, to these lessons daily to do
what I say daily. It’s a daily exercise that’s how you get the great results.
If you don’t do that, if you get up and you have no discipline whatsoever
If you get up, if you have no discipline whatsoever, means at all. If you have no discipline at all
every day, you will not get good results.
Diets don’t work when you don’t do them. Exercise doesn’t work when you don’t do it.
Most people have experiences that they want to shift and once you shift those things your whole
life changes
He says, but the good side is that most people have some experiences that they want to shift,
they want to change and once you change those big important things then their or your whole
life changes, so there’s certain things, if you change them like just doing this little thing in the
morning. Like listening to English an hour or two every day, just that little change can make a
huge change in your life, a huge improvement.
Life is constant growth. It means if you’re alive you’re constantly learning, constantly growing,
constantly improving.
We are going to end the video there. I hope you’ve enjoyed it. Listen to the mini story. You’re
going to get more repetition and deeper learning of a lot of these phrases and words and others.
The mini story lesson is very, very, very powerful, as is the point of view lesson. And then in the
commentary I will talk more about some of these ideas that Tony is teaching us.
Get Psyched – Mini Story
Hi this is AJ and welcome to the mini story. In the mini story I tell a simple, funny story with lots
of questions. You just listen and if you want, answer the questions, you can just answer with
one or two words. You can answer silently in your head, up to you.
***********
There is a turtle. There is a turtle named Tony.
The Olympics, at the Olympics. Tony the turtle wants to win a gold medal at the Olympics.
In what sport?
Sprinting is running fast for short distances. Sprinting… sprinting… he wants to win a gold
medal in sprinting.
What is there?
Charlie. The cheetah’s name is Charlie. Charlie the cheetah is the world champion. Charlie the
cheetah is the world champion in sprinting.
But Tony wants to win a gold medal at the Olympics. Tony tells his friends and family about his
plan.
Because he’s a turtle. They laugh and criticize him because he’s a turtle. They laugh and
criticize him because he is a turtle. They say you can’t win a gold medal in sprinting because
you are a turtle.
Yeah, he’s a little pissed off at the criticism, but he doesn’t care.
Tony the turtle. Tony the turtle has a training process, a training system, training method, a
training process every morning.
No, he doesn’t get sleepy with music he gets psyched up. He gets excited, super excited,
enthusiastic. He gets psyched up with music.
Morning, every morning he gets psyched up with music. He gets excited, motivated with music.
After he gets psyched up with music he imagines his goal.
After he gets psyched up with music he imagines his goal. He imagines winning a gold medal.
Very clearly and emotionally, clearly and emotionally he imagines winning a gold medal.
He can see it clearly. He can feel the excitement, the happiness of winning the medal. Clearly
and emotionally he imagines winning a gold medal. After this he is primed for training.
He’s ready for training. He’s prepared. He is primed for success. He is primed for training.
Is Charlie the cheetah primed for training in the morning, every morning?
He is naturally what?
Charlie, Charlie the cheetah says I am naturally wired for success. I don’t need to train.
Is Charlie the cheetah naturally wired for success, programmed for success?
Mm…hmm yeah. He is naturally wired for success. He’s a cheetah, he’s naturally fast. He says I
am a natural winner, I am wired for success automatically.
No, poor Tony, Tony’s a turtle. He’s not wired for running success. He’s not wired for sprinting
success.
He has to psyche himself up every morning to become primed for training, ready and prepared
for training. And then he trains hard every morning.
Tony. Tony, the turtle trains hard every morning. Every morning he runs hard. He lifts weights.
Does Charlie train hard every morning?
Tony trains for several months and then he goes to the world championships, not the Olympics,
the world championships, a different event. Charlie also goes to the world championships.
Before the world championship race Tony sleeps early.
No, Charlie stays out late. Charlie stays out late drinking. He gets drunk. He drinks too much
alcohol.
Charlie the cheetah, Charlie the cheetah gets drunk the night before the race.
The next morning Tony wakes up early. Once again he plays music and he imagines victory. He
sets the tone to win.
To set the tone to win. To create the attitude to win. To create the feeling, the mindset to win, to
set the tone to win.
Before the race. In the morning before the race he sets the tone to win.
This is how he sets the tone to win the race. In the morning the alcohol wears off for Charlie.
In the morning is Charlie still drunk?
It wears off – it means it stops working. The alcohol’s not working anymore. The alcohol is gone,
No, not for Tony. Tony didn’t get drunk. The alcohol wears off for Charlie.
Not. He’s not drunk in the morning it wears off, but he’s hung over. He has a headache. He
doesn’t feel so good.
Yeah, it wore off. It stopped working. It went away, but he still has a headache.
A reporter sees Charlie and asks, are you okay? Charlie says yes, no problem. I will win easily.
So then it’s time for the race they line up. Tony, Charlie and many others. Boom! They have the
race. It’s super close. It’s super close. It’s super close. And, Charlie the cheetah wins. Charlie
the cheetah wins the world championship sprinting race.
Who wins?
No, he does not win easily. It’s very, very, very close.
Is it a close race?
Is he excited?
Who is psyched?
Is Charlie psyched?
No, Charlie’s not psyched. He’s not excited, he’s pissed off.
Charlie. Charlie the cheetah is pissed off because the race was very close.
Tony. Tony, the turtle is psyched because the race is very close.
After the race Tony is very motivated. He realizes he can win, so he trains even harder every
morning. And the next year he goes to the Olympics. He is primed and ready for the Olympics.
He is prepared and ready for the Olympics.
Not at all, he is primed and ready. He is prepared and ready. In fact, he is psyched up. He’s
super excited. He’s psyched up.
This time they run the race and you’re not surprised, you know, Tony the turtle wins the gold
medal. His daily work is successful. He wins the gold medal. They put it around his neck. He
smiles and he is proud.
************
Okay, that is the end of our mini story. As I said, listen to it every day. The repetition, the
questions, it’s all simple but it will go deep, deep, deep. You will learn this deeply. This will help
you so much with your speaking, so listen every single day. See you in the point of view
lessons.
Get Psyched – Point of View
Hi, welcome to the point of view story. I tell the same story again but with three different times,
three different points of view or times. You don’t need to think about it, just understand, listen
each day and this way you’re learning some grammar, but you’re doing it in a very automatic
relaxed way. Let’s begin, first in the past.
*************
There was a turtle named Tony. In the past there was a turtle named Tony.
Tony the turtle wanted to win a gold medal. He wanted to win a gold medal in sprinting.
Tony the turtle. Tony the turtle wanted to win a gold medal in sprinting.
His family and friends. He told all of his family and friends.
His family and friends laughed at him and they criticized him.
A cheetah, Charlie was a cheetah. He was also the world champion of sprinting.
Charlie. Charlie was the world champion. He told everyone, I am naturally wired for success.
Yeah, in fact he was. HE was naturally wired for success, to run fast.
Why was he naturally wired for success?
Well, because he was a cheetah of course. Cheetahs are naturally fast. He was naturally wired
for success.
Every morning Tony the turtle got up and did a training process.
He got up and did a training process, like a training system. He had a training process, a
training system.
With music. He got psyched up with music. He played super, super, super, super, super, super,
super, super, super exciting energetic music immediately in the morning and that’s how Tony
got psyched up every morning. He got excited every morning.
Every morning he got up and he imagined winning a gold medal. Then he was primed for
training. He was prepared and ready for training. He was primed for training. After he was
primed for training, from getting psyched up, from imagining his goal. After that then he trained.
He lifted weights. He ran hard.
He did not he was a natural winner. He didn’t need to train. He did not get psyched up every
morning. He did not need to train.
Charlie got drunk the night before. He got drunk and stayed out late. The next morning Tony got
up early.
Tony, tony the turtle got up early. He got up early before the race.
Charlie got up late just before the race.
Yes, the alcohol wore off while he was sleeping, but he still felt bad.
After he woke up, tony listened to music and imagined his victory. This set the tone for him to
win.
Then they had the race. It was very, very close. It was a very close race, but Charlie the
cheetah won. However, Charlie was pissed off. He was pissed off because the race was very,
very close. Usually he won easily. Tony was psyched because it was very close. He knew he
had a chance to get a gold medal later at the Olympics. So he trained very, very hard and the
next year he went to the Olympics. At the Olympics he won a gold medal. He defeated Charlie
the cheetah. Tony won a gold medal.
*******
All right, let’s do the story again. This time let’s pretend we’re imagining it happening. We’re
thinking it will happen in the future. It will probably happen. We’re imagining a story that will
happen in the future.
So, in the future there will be a turtle. His name will be Tony. He’ll want to win a gold medal in
sprinting. He will want to win a gold medal. He’ll want to win a gold medal in sprinting. He’ll tell
his friends and family about this, but they’re gonna laugh. They’re all gonna laugh. Gonna
means going to, going to it’s casual.
They’re gonna laugh at him. They’re gonna criticize him. But he won’t care. There will also be, in
the future, a cheetah named Charlie and he’ll be the champion, the world champion. He’ll be
naturally wired for success in running.
Every morning Tony will get up and follow a training process. First he’ll get psyched up with
music. Next he’ll imagine his goal, the goal of winning. After this he’ll be primed for success.
He’ll be ready for training, primed for training. Then he’ll train hard every morning. Charli
Charlie and Tony will go to the world championships. Tony’ll go to bed early and get good sleep.
Charlie, he’s gonna get drunk the night before. In the morning, Tony’ll wake up early. Charlie will
wake up late. The alcohol will wear off, it’ll wear off but he’ll still feel bad. Just before the race,
Tony is gonna set the tone to win. He’ll listen to music and he’ll imagine victory as always.
They’ll have the race. Charlie is gonna win, but it’ll be very, very, very close and so, Charlie’s
actually gonna be pissed off. He’s gonna be pissed off about the result, because it’s gonna be
so close. Tony, he’ll be happy. In fact, he’ll be psyched because he’ll almost win, and so he’ll
train even harder every morning, and the next year at the Olympics he’s gonna win. He’s gonna
get that gold medal.
********
All right, let’s change the point of view one more time. Let’s imagine we’re talking about Tony
being a child, in his childhood in the beginning. The story will begin earlier.
Beginning when Tony was a child, since he was a child, a baby turtle. Since he was a child
Tony has wanted to win a gold medal, so starting in that past time and continuing up until
recently. He has wanted to win a gold medal ever since he was a child. In fact, during his
childhood he has told family and friends constantly about this goal. He has told them, I will win a
gold medal in sprinting.
And, of course, they have laughed at him every time. His family and his friends have always
laughed at him ever since he was a child, talking about his goal. They’ve laughed at him and
they have criticized him starting back when he was a child and continuing, right up until recently.
Now, Tony has always ignored their criticism. He hasn’t cared. In fact, he has gotten up every
morning starting when he was young, he’s gotten up every morning and he has followed a
training process every single day.
Every morning he has gotten up and gotten psyched up with music. Next, he has always
imagined his goal every morning. After this he was primed for success. Then, starting in
childhood, right up until now he has trained hard every single day, every single morning. Now
finally, one day, one specific day the world championships came. He went to the world
championships, Tony did. At the world championships he raced against Charlie the cheetah, of
course, the world champion.
Charlie got drunk the night before, but the alcohol wore off the next morning. Tony did not get
drunk, he went to bed early, he woke up early. In the morning Charlie felt bad, but he still was
confident about winning. In the morning Tony set the tone for victory, as usual. He woke up. He
listened to powerful exciting music, and he imagined victory. Finally they had the race and it was
very close. Charlie won, but he was pissed. He was pissed off, he was angry, because it was so
close. He usually won easily.
On the other hand, Tony was psyched. He was excited. He was psyched up. He was psyched
about the race, even though he lost, because it was so close. He knew he had a chance, and in
fact, the next year at the Olympics, Tony the turtle finally won the gold medal in sprinting.
***************
And that is the end of our point of view stories. Listen to this every single day, don’t think about
grammar rules, no-no-no, just listen, just notice the changes in the sentences. Listen to all of the
VIP lessons, all of the audios, listen to them every single day. If you have time listen to each
one twice a day. Be like Tony, set the tone. Train hard every day, you will speak English
fluently, powerfully and persuasively.
Get psyched. Get excited. This is a daily discipline. The key thing about the VIP program is that
it is a daily discipline. Don’t miss this chance. This is your chance to break through, to achieve
exactly what you want with English, finally.
But just as Tony said in the main lesson. It’s something you must do daily. You must have this
daily discipline. You must prime yourself. Prepare yourself every morning for success. These
little changes in habits in just six to twelve months will create huge, positive changes, incredible
results when you do this simple VIP habit daily discipline. Six to twelve months that’s all you
need.
So, pour in your power, Train your emotions. Train your mind. For English. For enthusiasm. For
energy.
So how are you gonna do this? Well, the first thing you’re going to do as you star the VIP
program is exactly what Tony described. You are also going to prime yourself every morning.
This means, when you wake up in the morning you’re going to create a new habit. Just 10
minutes. It’s just 10 minutes. You have time for this, so do it. You wake up. You can put on
headphones if you want to or you can turn on your speakers but you can just play some
energetic positive music. Any, energetic positive music that makes you feel happy and excited
and good and energized and positive.
So just put that on and you can play it for just a minute that’s all you need to do, just one minute,
two minutes and as you do, you want to stand up straight so your shoulders are back, your head
is up, a good strong posture, good strong body language, smile and breathe deeply. Three big
deep breaths smiling, feeling great, feeling powerful and then jump around a little bit. Jump or
even dance a little bit for just a few minutes. Do this with no one watching.
You could do this in the bathroom if you want. Go in the bathroom, put on your headphones,
lock the door, do these deep breaths and then just jump, jump up in the air. Put your hands
above your hand, a big smile, jump actually your feet come off the ground a little bit, just for like
30 seconds. You jump, you jump, you jump, you smile, you’re feeling great. You’re acting crazy.
It feels good.
That’s step one. Step two, calm yourself, still breathing deeply. Turn the music off and just for a
couple minutes, three minutes, two minutes, think of gratitude. What are you grateful for in your
life? What do you appreciate? What are you grateful for? Maybe it’s the people in your life,
certain people in your life that you love. Maybe it’s your health. Maybe it’s just being alive.
Whatever it is, go through your life and find what’s good, what you appreciate, what you are
grateful for. Three minutes focusing on that and feeling it, really feeling the gratitude.
You can even say quietly to yourself, thank you. Thank you. Each time you think of a new thing,
thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Next, if you believe in God you can pray. In fact, you can do your gratitude as a prayer. If you’re
not religious that’s also fine, just focus on the gratitude.
Next, you’re going to think about your day, the day that’s coming and I want you to imagine all of
the times during the day where you can listen to English. Go through your whole schedule for
the coming day and think of all the little time periods where you 100% know you can listen to
English, even if it’s just five minutes. Maybe it’s while you’re cooking or preparing breakfast,
lunch or dinner. Maybe it’s also when you are going to work or coming back from work or to
school or coming back from school or taking your kids to school and picking them up. Maybe it’s
little short breaks during the day. Maybe it’s when you’re shopping. Maybe it’s when you go for a
walk or exercise. But I want you to imagine you’re coming day and to identify in your mind all the
times when you are going to listen to VIP lessons, so that you know you’re planning it, you’re
preplanning it. You know you’ll be training English.
Finally, the next step after you do this, that only takes about 10 minutes, probably less than 10
minutes, this little morning routine, this morning priming. The next thing you’re going to do is
immediately, immediately after you do this, ah you feel good, you’ve imagined your day,
gratitude, energized. Next, I want you to immediately turn on your VIP lesson for this month,
whatever lesson you’re focusing on, turn it on and start listening. It could be the main lesson. It
could be a mini story. It could be an interactive lesson. It could be a commentary it doesn’t
matter. Just turn on one of those and play it. Play it for at least 15 minutes in the morning, right
at the beginning of the morning.
You could turn it up loud and if you have speakers then play it while you take a shower, while
you’re getting dressed or while you’re preparing your breakfast, it doesn’t matter. It’s just that
you’re doing this to prime yourself, again prepare yourself so right at the beginning of the day
you’re getting English into your brain. You’re starting right at the beginning of the day with
English, because when you go to sleep who knows, maybe you’re dreaming in your own
language whatever. You wake up and boom, you start with English immediately. This is a very
strong start to your day.
This will get your brain starting to move and think in English, very, very important.
Next, for the rest of the day, any time you have free time put on your headphones and listen to
your VIP lessons. Even if you have just five minutes, use those five minutes, use all those little
pieces of time you have during the day to listen to your VIP lessons.
At least two hours a day I recommend. You’re serious. You want to break through, it’s finally
time for you to make a big improvement in your English speaking. So you finally speak fluently
and powerfully and persuasively, no more wasting time. Don’t miss this chance anymore. Just
six to twelve months from now you’ll be a master at speaking English, when you do this every
day. It’s a daily discipline, don’t waste it. Every free moment, put on those headphones and
listen. And, when you’re listening, don’t just sit and listen with your head down and energy low.
That’s not the best, the Effortless English System is also about emotion and energy, so every
time you listen to your VIP lessons, pull your shoulders back, your chest up and out, bring your
head up, your chin, your head up, a little bit up.
Take a few deep breaths and in general try to breathe more deeply and smile, put a little smile
on your face. This will give you a positive mentality. It will prime you. It will prepare you for a
positive attitude, for more energy. You will learn better when you feel better. This will also build
your confidence with English. Now even better, don’t just sit and listen, it’s better to stand up
and listen. If you have no room you could at least just stand up while you’re listening. This will
energize your body even more.
Even better than just standing is to walk. I highly, highly, highly recommend walking while you
listen to your VIP lessons. Walking will energize your body and your mind, gets your blood
moving, you’ll feel great, you’ll learn faster, you’ll have more energy, better concentration, better
focus. You will improve faster. So any time you have a chance, walk and listen to your VIP
lessons. If you’re sitting in a car or a train no problem, but when you have the chance get out
there and move while listening.
This is your daily routine. You’re going to do it every single day, let’s say for the next year.
Commit. Write it down. Get a piece of paper and write down all of these steps and make a
commitment. Decide this is your goal and that for 12 months you’re going to do this for 12
months every single day. You can do this, this is not difficult. This is an easy change you can
make, so you’re gonna do this for just, commit to 12 months. If you want to do longer than that
after 12 months that’s your choice, but commit to 12 months of doing this every morning.
Not only the VIP part but also the gratitude, the music and the deep breaths, all of it and starting
your day with English early in the morning. Commit to that. Write it down as a goal, as a
commitment, as a decision and then just do it every single day. See what happens after just one
year, don’t miss this chance. These little daily disciplines are what change your life, what create
the great results, the great life that you want, the fluency, the confidence, the power, the
lifestyle, everything that you want, it’s the little daily disciplines that do it, not just something you
do one day, some big thing.
No, it’s these little daily disciplines, daily commitments to just do this every single day for a year.
That’s how you change your life.
