Twilight switches T Line
Range Overview
T Line is the new innovative range of twilight switches made by ABB. T Line
twilight switches command lighting circuits according to the scheduled level of
the ambient light detected by a dedicated sensor. They are characterized by
extreme flexibility of installation: thanks to the frontal controls, the installer can
set in complete freedom the time ON and time OFF as well as the range of Lux
desired.
T Line is the perfect solution to control circuit according to the ambient light.:
they are energy-efficient and therefore particularly useful in public places
(garden, parking lots, entrances, courtyards, etc…)

lf the GREEN LED is illuminated, this indicates the activation status of the threshold.
If the RED LED is illuminated, this indicates that the relay contact is closed (illumination lit up).

2) Make the threshold adjustment (from 2 to 200 lux) by turning the trimmer. The lighting of the red LED
represents the achievement of the threshold set (contact closed) after having spent a period of
approximately 30 seconds. Since the last adjustment.
3) Secure the dome by lightening the captive screw inserted through the bottom of the base. Tighten the
screw until the dome pressed on the gasket sufficiently to ensure a hermetic seal.

T Line twilight switches
Applications
Operating principle
The diagram is an example of a T1 twilight switch installed in a mall lighting system. When outdoor light drops under a certain level (for
example, in the evening store closing hours), the device turns on window and sign lights. Lights can be turned off during the night to rationalize
consumption thanks to the AT1 time switch.
Installation example
As shown in the diagrams, one of the possible applications consists in the installation of a T1 twilight switch in a mall lighting system. When
outdoor light drops under a certain level (for example, in the evening store closing hours), the twilight switch turns on window and sign lights.
Lights can be turned of during the night thanks to the AT1 timer switch which keeps the circuit open until the next morning. When outdoor
lighting returns over the limit, the twilight relay returns to the open position.
Application environments
The installation of a T1 twilight switch with AT electro-mechanical time switch is especially suited for environments and situations in which
energy consumption rationalization is required (stores, office and public walkways, car parks, parks, etc.).
© ABB Group
July 22, 2018 | Slide 58
T Line twilight switches
Applications
Operating principle
The diagram shows an example of the installation of the T1 PLUS twilight switch in the lighting system of a greenhouse.
When the external light exceeds a certain level (e.g. during the warmest hours of the day, i.e. early afternoon), the device activates the shading
system, e.g. roller blinds. Thanks to the option to advance or delay the activation-deactivation time, the T1 PLUS can also maintain the roller
blinds closed in the case of passing clouds.
Installation example
As shown in the diagrams, one of the possible options is to install a T1 PLUS twilight switch in the lighting system of a greenhouse. When the
external light exceeds a certain level (for example during peak hours in the early afternoon) the twilight switch activates the roller blinds,
protecting the plants in the greenhouse against burning by the strong sunlight. When the external light returns to below the threshold value, the
twilight switch relay opens the blinds to allow the sunlight to pass through.
Application environments
The installation of the T1 PLUS twilight switch is particularly useful in settings and situations where lighting control is required for locations
where there are consistently high brightness values, thus guaranteeing substantial savings in energy consumption (greenhouses, arcades,
photovoltaic plants, etc.).
© ABB Group
July 22, 2018 | Slide 59
T Line twilight switches
Applications
Operating principle
This diagram is an example of the installation of a pole mounting T1 POLE twilight switch in a highways lighting plant. When the daylight dims
below a set level, i.e. below 10 lux, the device turns on the lighting devices in tunnels, service areas, access road, etc. T1 POLE will turn off the
lights when morning daylight raise above 10 lux.
Installation example
As illustrated in the diagram, one among the possible applications concern the installation of a pole mounting T1 POLE twilight switch in a
highway lighting plant. When daylight dims below a set level (e.g. during twilight) the switch turns on the lighting devices, assuring the
requested lighting. At dawn, when the light raise above the set threshold, the relays of T1 POLE returns in open position.
Application environments
The pole mounting T1 POLE twilight switch installation can be ideal to light command in public roadways thanks to its capability of installation in
pole, lamppost, etc.

§ Each channel has 2 adjustable threshold: alarms (to provide remote evidence of the fault)
and trip (to switch off devices)
§ Dual 3-digit display with 5 programming keys
§ Able to store in memory maximum temperature values and a log of all trip-events
§Functions: HOLD, Number of input channels, FAN, Fan threshold, ALARM – TRIP, FAULT,
Tmax VISUALIZATION, HOT, Luminous indicator TEST

ABB TS-C are modular safety transformers for general continuous use:
§ Non-inherently short circuit proof: short circuit proof equipped with a non replaceable
protective device, continue to function after removing the overload or short circuit
§ Standard: EN 61558-2-6
§ Tolerance on secondary voltage (full load) < ± 5% 2%!
§ SELV (Safety Extra Low voltage) secondary
§ Full power on all secondary outputs
§ Simultaneous withdrawing of power from secondary outputs

ABB TM are single phase (non-modular) transformers for general continuous use, including:
§ Control transformers (standard EN 61558-2-2): to supply control circuits where double or
reinforced insulation between circuits is not required
§ Isolating transformers (standard EN 61558-2-2, 4): doubled or reinforced insulation
between primary and secondary windings, ideal for granting service continuity
§ Safety transformers (standard EN 61558-2-2, 6): isolating transformer intended for
powering SELV circuits, ideal for granting maximum protection against contacts
§ Full power on all secondary outputs
§ Simultaneous withdrawing of power from secondary outputs
