BULLYING REASONS AMONG STUDENTS IN SCHOOLS

By identifying the many causes of bullying, it may help prevent or stop some
children before the bullying starts. Some bullies have dysfunctional families. People in their
families, like parents or siblings, may act aggressively toward each other or toward outsiders.
These aggressive behaviors are modeled in the home and are thus seen as acceptable. If
children do not feel nurtured at home, they may take these frustrations out on peers they deem
weaker. Bullying refers to aggressive behavior so as to dominate the other person. It refers to
the coercion of power over others so that one individual can dominate others. It is an act that
is not one time, instead, it keeps on repeating over frequent intervals. The person(s) who
bullies others can be termed as bullies, who make fun of others due to several reasons.
Bullying is a result of someone’s perception of the imbalance of power.

Bullying is an action that causes insults to others performed repeatedly, which can be
manifested physically, through aggression. Bullying cases involve at least one abuser and one
victim, and in some cases there are witnessen.Bullying can impact a student on physical,
mental and emotional levels. Some of the effects comprise anxiety, post-traumatic stress
disorder, lack of self-esteem, gastric issues, relationship issues, and addiction to alcohol and
drug.We can talk about physical, verbal, sexual or mental bullying.

However bullying is intentionally harmful behaviour that is repeated over time. The term
bullying is used to describe lots of different kinds of deliberately aggressive or rude behaviour
that causes distress to a person and negatively affects their wellbeing.

Bullying can occur anywhere and to anyone. It can happen online or face-to-face in schools,
workplaces and in the community. Often, people bully others due to differences in their race,
gender, ethnicity and/or religion, although this isn't always the case.

School bullies like to be in charge. These kids may be popular — or very worried
about their popularity — and may feel the need to have power over other students. Some kids
gain popularity, or attention, by bullying others as well. Many bullies are unable to control
their emotions. If they become frustrated — if minor irritations are magnified — they
overreact and hurt others. These types of kids might also make rash decisions or have
difficulty following rules.

Some bullies actually enjoy victimizing others. These kids may be unable to identify
with their peers. When they inflict emotional or physical pain upon others, they have no clue
how their victims feel. They might also feel successful when they hurt others, so they will
continue doing so.

Many schools have put anti-bullying rules in place to protect victims. In addition to bullying,
cyber-bullying, intimidation, harassment, discrimination and taunting are all terms that are
used in anti-bullying laws and guidelines.

Furthermore bullying has become an epidemic in schools and communities all around the
country. Whether it’s physical, social or verbal, bullying is wrongful behavior. All aggressive
and bullying behavior should be reported to a parent, teacher or person in authority.

In my opinion bullying is never acceptable, regardless of what form it comes in, be it

physical violence, verbal abuse or psychological torture. Such cases need to be dealt with self-
defence and reported to a teacher, the principal or any school staff, for that matter.

Moreover bullies usually behave the way they do either to feel power over others and not
being educated by their parents, or due to the fact that they themselves were abused as small
children. Bullying only leads to more violence if children are left unattended.

In the case of school bullying, parents and teachers can play an important role. They should
try and notice the early symptoms of children/students such as behavioral change, lack of self-
esteem, concentration deficit, etc. Early recognition of symptoms, prompt action and timely
counseling can reduce the after-effects of bullying on the victim.

What are the effects of bullying?

Bullying can strongly impact people's health, learning and general wellbeing. Victims of
bullying can go on to experience mental health issues for a long time after being bullied.
Depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, loneliness, physical illness and attempted self-harm can
be common in sufferers. There is a strong link between bullying and children's mental health.
Being bullied can cause children to have low self-esteem, become isolated and feel unsafe.
During childhood, a critical time of development, it's important for children to build a positive
sense of self. Children's self-image, confidence, emotional state, mindset and outlook on life
can all be negatively impacted by bullying.
What should students do if they're being bullied?

Some forms of bullying are easier to spot than others. This means that teachers can’t always
get involved as quickly as they would like to. It's a good idea to have a list of simple things
that kids can do if they are experiencing bullying. This is a great way of making sure victims
of bullying feel less helpless. The list can include:t elling an adult you trust; ignoring the
bully;holding your head high; sticking with your real friends; standing up for others.

There are Anti-bullying laws: awareness about such laws may also create discouragement to
the act of bullying amongst children and youngsters. Some information about anti-bullying
laws is as follows:

Laws in School: To put a notice on the notice board that if any student is found bullying other
students then he/she can be rusticated. An active and energic committee should be formed
which can have representatives from school, parents, legal, etc.

It is the duty of the parents to constantly preach their children about not bullying anyone and
that it is wrong. If we, as teachers or as a society need to grow and develop youngers to be
calm and polite, then we have to collectively work towards discouraging the act of bullying
and hence make our children feel secure.
