A mobile phone that is portable with a small size cordless and has additional
features sort message, mms, video call, etc. The process of development of the
first mobile phone discovery by Alexander Grahamm Bell in 1876 has undergone a
huge evolution. Starting from simple formation, the phone is now turned
into a modern communication tool with various functions. Initially the phone only
works for a short talk and send messages, but now the function has far exceeded what
was ever thought of before. Call it a change from monochrome screen to the
television screen with equal quality, or from a touch screen alphanumeric keypad.
The camera is an instrument that in his time alone, now are integrated into the mobile
phone, with a resolution that does not mess around.
Mobile has become a primary need day-to-day, we can find different series of latest mobile
phones of various brands and also there are many different forms such as barphone, flip or slide.

History Inventor of the first mobile phone system is Martin Cooper, a Motorola employee
on April 3, 1973, although widely touted is the inventor of the cell phone of one of a team of
Motorola division (division where Cooper worked) with the first model is the DynaTAC. Idea
proposed by Cooper is a communication tool that is small and easy to carry travel
flexibly.Cooper and his team faced the challenge of how to include all electronic material into
such a small device for the first time. But eventually a first cell phone was successfully
completed with a total weight of weighing two kilograms. To produce it, Motorola would cost
the equivalent of U.S. $ 1 million. "In 1983, the portable cellular phone worth U.S. $ 4 thousand
(Rp36 million) equivalent to U.S. $ 10 thousand (Rp90 million).After successfully producing
mobile phones, the next biggest challenge is adapting infrastructure to support the mobile phone
communication system by creating a network system that only requires 3 MHz spectrum, the
equivalent of five TV channels are channeled to the whole world.Other figures are known to be
very instrumental in the mobile communications world is Amos Joel Jr. who was born in
Philadelphia, March 12, 1918, he was recognized worldwide as an expert in the field of
switching. He received a bachelor's degree (1940) and master's (1942) in electronic engineering
from MIT. Not long after studies, he began his career over 43 years (from July 1940-March
1983) at the Bell Telephone Laboratories, where he received more than 70 U.S. patents in the
field of telecommunications, particularly in the field of switching. Amos E Joel Jr., making the
system connector (switching) from one area of the cell phone to another cell area. Switching it
should work when mobile users move or move from one cell to another cell so that the
conversation is not interrupted. Because Joel Amos invention is the use of mobile phones to be
comfortable.Functions and featuresIn addition to working to make and receive phone calls, the
phone also has the function generally sending and receiving short messages (short message
service, SMS). There is also a provider of mobile phone services in some countries that provide
third generation (3G) services by adding videophone, as a means of payment, as well as for
online television on their mobile phones. Now, mobile phones into multifunctional
gadgets. Following the development of digital technology, now the phone is also equipped with a
wide selection of features, such as can capture radio and television broadcasts, the software audio
players (MP3) and video, digital camera, game, and internet services (WAP, GPRS, 3G). In
addition to these features, the phone is now embedded computer features So on the phone,

Entertainment is a mobile phone type of multimedia manifold, where all activities related to
music, art, photos, and other social can be fixed by a mobile phone.

Handphone has become the new technology of today’s lifestyle. As a proof, children as
young as 7 years old are already using handphones. Thinking back at a decade ago, handphones
are still bulky and expensive and they are only used by some people such as businessman and the
rich. Today, handphones are largely used by most of us. It has been the primary needs of our
daily life. In this rapidly changing world, technology is growing and handphones are getting
affordably cheap.
There are a lot of important usages we can get from handphone. Let’s take a look at some of its
positive effects. As its primary usage, of course, it is use as a way of communication. We can
communicate anywhere we want as long as it has signal. For example, in Indonesia there are a
lot of people working in other countries; handphones enable them to communicate with their
family, especially for people living in the countryside. Short Message System which is also
known as SMS is very popular among the youngsters. This is because SMS is much cheaper than
making a call, thus makes them able to communicate without fearing of spending too much
expenses. Multimedia Message System which is also known as MMS is very useful because we
can send photos or pictures easily. Handphone can also be called as our personal secretary. It is
already embedded with a lot of business applications such as calendar, reminder, calculator,
notes, Microsoft office, and now it already supports Wi-Fi so that we can access to email,
messenger and browse the web everywhere we want. These effects increase our society’s
interaction and economical growth, and easy internet connection network brings us closer to
what’s happending in the world around us. Another purpose is, it can be used as a source of
entertainment such as game applications, radio FM and music player. We are no longer required
to bring walkman and other game consoles, thus affect our moods as a tranquilizer to relax.
Besides of its positive effects, there are also negative effects too. As we all know, the spreading
of pornography is getting more and more uncontrollable and handphone can be use as a tool of
this reason. Pornography can be transfer easily through MMS, Wi-Fi and GPRS connection. This
pornography influences the moral of the people. Some people are concerned that internet could
be exploited for serious crimes. It also can be use as a way of cheating; there are some cases
where students are using their handphones to cheat by sending SMS to some friends, another
case is, teachers and students find it rather disruptive as it distracts the concentration of other
pupils when they are using phones during lessons and starts to ring. This negative effect wasted
teachers’ time by scolding pupils and slowed the class progression. The other effect is that it can
give some negative effect for our health, due to its radiation that is emitted while using
handphones. This might affect our health issue as it expose us with more radiation and extensive
exposure of radiation leads us to injuries that damages our tissues and cells in the body. It can
also be use as a way of communication at the wrong hands, for example criminal communicates
to other criminals to break the law by doing criminal acts. These dishonorable acts bring great
effects in our society.
As we know that children may be more vulnerable than adults to the potential risks of using
mobile phones. Therefore, it is important for parents to monitor their children’s activities on the
phone. In my opinion, handphone is an incredible invention with great usages provided we, as
users, are completely aware of the negative and harmful effects that is affecting ourselves and the
society. We have to be responsible for our behaviours, so that other people does not feel
uncomfortable or even opposed by our acts.
Handphone is one of electronic technology in our life. Handphone have many function
and very important for our life. Almost all people in the world have handphone. And now, there
is some reason why handphone is important.
Almost everyone has a mobile phone these days. Everywhere you go, you’ll see people sporting
the latest mobile phone models. Mobile phones have completely changed the way people
interact. You can call, send text messages, read emails, play games as well as read and edit
documents on the go. Today, the mobile phone has become part and parcel of many people’s
lives. Leaving home without your phone is akin to leaving without your shoes on. Clearly, the
mobile phone is one of the phenomenal inventions of this age. So what are the repercussions of
constantly using these devices day in day out? Let’s find out the advantages and disadvantages of
mobile phones below.

All mobile phones have a variety of features in common, but manufacturers seek product
differentiation by adding functions to attract consumers. This competition has led to great
innovation in mobile phone development over the past 20 years.
The common components found on all phones are:

 A battery, providing the power source for the phone functions.

 An input mechanism to allow the user to interact with the phone. The most common input
mechanism is a keypad, but touch screens are also found in most smartphones.
 A screen which echoes the user's typing, displays text messages, contacts and more.
 Basic mobile phone services to allow users to make calls and send text messages.
 All GSM phones use a SIM card to allow an account to be swapped among devices.
Some CDMA devices also have a similar card called a R-UIM.
 Individual GSM, WCDMA, iDEN and some satellite phone devices are uniquely identified
by an International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number.
Low-end mobile phones are often referred to as feature phones, and offer basic telephony.
Handsets with more advanced computing ability through the use of native software applications
became known as smartphones.
Several phone series have been introduced to address specific market segments, such as
the RIM BlackBerry focusing on enterprise/corporate customer email needs, the Sony-Ericsson
'Walkman' series of music/phones and 'Cyber-shot' series of camera/phones, the Nokia Nseries of
multimedia phones, the Palm Pre, the HTC Dream and the AppleiPhone.

Prior to 2010, Nokia was the market leader. However, since then competition has emerged in the
Asia Pacific region, from brands such as Micromax, Nexian and i-Mobile, which have chipped
away at Nokia's market share. Android-powered smartphones have also gained momentum
across the region at the expense of Nokia. In India, Nokia's market share dropped significantly to
around 31% from 56% in the same period. Its share was displaced by Chinese and Indian
vendors of low-end mobile phones.[18]
In Q1 2012, according to Strategy Analytics, Samsung surpassed Nokia, selling 93.5 million
units as against Nokia's 82.7 million units. In 2012 Standard & Poor's downgraded Nokia
to "junk" status, at BB+/B, with negative outlook due to high loss and an expected further
decline owing to insufficient growth in Lumia smartphone sales to offset a rapid decline in
revenue from Symbian-based smartphones that was forecast for subsequent quarters.[19]
In Q3 2014, the top ten manufacturers were Samsung (20.6%), Nokia (9.5%), Apple Inc. (8.4%),
LG (4.2%), Huawei (3.6%), TCL Communication (3.5), Xiaomi (3.5%), Lenovo (3.3%), ZTE
(3.0%) and Micromax (2.2%)

Its component is cheap though mobile phone has limited capacity and speed. It is handy
in dialing, talking, making video film, e-mailing, sending pictures etc.
Mobile phones are being extensively used by students at all levels, doctors, engineers, service
man, jobbers and common man and woman in their day-to-day activities. Today business is next
to impossible without a mobile phone. Starting from aviation industry to service sector, the
mobile phones are playing an important and vital role.
The use of a mobile phone is not limited to speaking alone it is being used in making video,
recording information and transmitting it to a phone or a computer as was being done by a
computer. Mobile phone can be connected to a computer to download information from it or vice
versa. Other facilities like on line chatting, conferencing, sending text, transferring MMS
information by a mobile phone are compatible with a computer.
Mobile phone uses have also taken a lead role in medicine field as well. Now days a Bluetooth
protocol of mobile phone is being used to develop a generic and real time Internet telemedicine
aid system, which uses very high radio frequency to heal a patient. This type of method of
healing a disease has been already tested on several volunteers with satisfactorily results. These
tests have been carried out by continuously recording of electrocardiograms (ECGs) of several
persons. The system requirement of telemedicine by mobile phone is 96% uptime, a data of 3.3 k
bit/s, an error rate of 8.5 × 10-3 packet/s.

In the process of 12 hour of testing an average downtime recorded was 32 min and less than 8%
of the failure rate. Medicine science has claimed that mobile phone telemedicine system will
give a high reliability and a reasonably good performance, and in future time the design will
prove to be a foundation for healing the patients on real time basis with the help of mobile
phone.

Mobile phone is not only used for the welfare of humankind but also its misuse has serious
effects on our society worldwide. Time and again, there are the reports that mobile phones are
being misused by antisocial and miscreant elements to carry out their inhumane activities. Good
or bad are the two sides of a coin, but it is up to the users, to make a best use of mobile phone.
This is the date of mobile phone users in Indonesia

Easy Communication
Most people have at least a simple, if not sophisticated, mobile phone. These devices are
convenient to carry around and you can use them on the go as long as there is network coverage
wherever you are. Many parents allow their kids to own mobile phone because they feel secure
in the knowledge that they can reach their kids wherever they are and at any time. Mobile phones
have clearly made it easier to communicate. All people in the world know that it is the basic
function of handphone. With handphone, we can communicate with other people although the
long distance separated us. With handphone, communication will be easy. We can talk with
someone else around the world with handphone. If we don’t want to talk with them, we can send
them information through SMS or short message. SMS is the acronym of Short Message Service.
In SMS, we can’t talk-on, we only send a message.
Always Connected
With the upgrades made year in, year out, mobile phones are becoming more like computers
with the added benefit of portability. One can receive and send emails, browse websites,
download games and videos, book flight tickets, money transfer to banks and even chat with
friends. With a mobile phone, you are connected to the internet throughout. You can search for
places and directions for places that you are not familiar with, you can check out what your
friends are up to on social media and you can even access your work PC remotely.

Multiple Uses
Mobile phones are convenient devices that can be used for a variety of tasks. You can listen to
music, watch movies, play games, camera, video player, dictionary, calculator, browse, store
notes, make video calls, and also set an alarm for your waking up. You can even use some
phones to control your TV. Mobile phones have become the modern day personal assistant..
With camera, we can take a lot of pictures and videos. Those pictures and videos can memories
us to the romantic, sadness, and also unforgettable moments. We also take a picture and video
just for fun. With handphone, we also can listening music and watching video. With handphone
too, we can search the meaning of a word and also for calcute something. With handphone too,
we can playing game. It can help us when we feel bored. When we feel bored, we can playing
game so we can’t be bored again. handphone can be used for browsing internet. With handphone,
we can search many information easly. And if we want to browsing internet, we don’t need
computer to open it. With handphone, we can open the internet and search many information that
we need easily and fast.
Based on the above discussion, don’t marvels if almost all people in the world have
handphone, because handphone is an electronic technology that very important for our life.
Emergency Situations
Although the mobile phone doesn’t guarantee safety, you can use it to make calls whenever there
is an emergency. Travelling with your phone is very important. In case you have an accident,
you can always contact someone who will help you.

Disadvantages of Mobile Phones

Constant Interruption
Since you’re always connected when you have your mobile phone, it becomes harder to ignore
interruptions. People are always on their phones receiving calls, checking out their friends on
Facebook, chatting on WhatsApp, checking emails and listening to music. It has become
virtually impossible to avoid unneeded interruption. If you’re unable to control yourself, this can
become a problem as you won’t have time to get anything important done. Furthermore, you
can’t avoid work related emails and phone calls when you’re at home with your family or on
vacation.
Possibility of Privacy Leak
Having all your information on your device is very convenient. However, it’s also dangerous
because there’s a possibility of someone else accessing your phone. Mobile phone theft is quite
common and it could leave you exposed. It is therefore important to secure your phone from
unauthorized access. You should also avoid storing sensitive data such as bank and credit card
details. It is also possible for someone to hijack your email and social media accounts using your
phone for malicious reasons.

Distraction
The accidents caused by usage of mobile phones when driving is innumerable. The temptation to
pick an important call when driving is huge. While you may have done it successfully in the past,
it is not a good idea. The distraction could easily cause you to lose control of the car and
consequently cause an accident. While it is possible to put your phone on hands free mode, it is
usually best to wait until you get to your destination or even pull over in order to pick the call.
The mobile phone can also disrupt a meeting or class if proper etiquette is not followed. The
phone ringing during a class or meeting can distract the attendees and waste precious time.
Always put your phone in silent mode when you are in such a circumstance.

Affect Real Interaction

Today, socializing that involves real interaction is very rare. People have been reduced to
interacting on social platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, or chat applications such as Viber
and WhatsApp. While there’s nothing expressly wrong with chatting with your friends on these
platforms, it can be a problem if it is done at the expense of face to face interaction. It can easily
take you away from the real life activities and you will find it hard interacting with real people.
In a family where every family member has a mobile phone and uses it every time they are
together,

Mobile phone is one thing that very important in our life, without handphone (mobile
phone) we can not do anything. A mobile phone is a portable telephone that can make and
receive calls over a radio frequency carrier while the user is moving within a telephone service area.
The radio frequency link establishes a connection to the switching systems of a mobile phone
operator, which provides access to the public switched telephone network (PSTN). Most modern
mobile telephone services use a cellular network architecture, and therefore mobile telephones are
often also called cellular telephones or cell phones. In addition to telephony, 2000s-era mobile
phones support a variety of other services, such as text messaging, MMS, email, Internet access,
short-range wireless communications (infrared, Bluetooth), business applications, gaming,
and digital photography. Mobile phones which offer these and more general computing capabilities
are referred to as smartphones
