Product Specifications

Sample Specifications for Valves

Series 700 - Wafer Style Silent Check Valve:


Check valves shall be of the wafer style, center-guided, silent, non-slam type. Check valves to
have cast iron body, bronze disc and seat, and stainless steel spring*. Sizes 2" thru 6" to be
ANSI B16.1 class 125/250. Sizes 8" and 10" to be either ANSI B16.1class 125 or 250 as
appropriate for the application. Valve to have a cracking pressure of ¼ to ½ psi, and fully open
at a flow velocity of 4 fps. Operation of the valve shall not be affected by position of installation.
Valve shall be capable of fully closing prior to reversal of flow, and shall eliminate water
hammer. When specified, a Buna-N seal shall be furnished to provide bubble tight shutoff. All
component parts shall be field replaceable. Check valves shall be “Factory Mutual” approved
through 12" size. Silent check valves shall be “CV700" series as manufactured by The
Metraflex Company®, Chicago, IL.

Series 900 - Globe Style Silent Check Valve:


Check valves shall be of the flanged globe style, center-guided, silent, non-slam type. Check
valves to have cast iron body, bronze disc and seat, and stainless steel spring*. Flange drilling
to be ANSI B16.1 class 125 or 250 as appropriate for the application. Valve to have a cracking
pressure of ¼ to ½ psi, and fully open at a flow velocity of 4 fps. Operation of the valve shall not
be affected by position of installation. Valve shall be capable of fully closing prior to reversal of
flow, and shall eliminate water hammer. When specified, a Buna-N seal shall be furnished to
provide bubble tight shutoff. All component parts shall be field replaceable. Check valves shall
be “Factory Mutual” approved through 12" size. Silent check valves shall be “CV900" series as

Series “Chexx” - Dual Disc Check Valve:


Check valves shall be of the wafer style, non-slam, dual disc type with torsion spring. Check
valves shall have cast iron body, bronze or aluminum bronze disc and seat, and stainless steel
spring. The body shall be one piece construction incorporating a Buna-N seal. Opening and
closing of the valve must utilize a lift and pivot action to prevent seal wear. The stop and pivot
pins shall be resiliently mounted to prevent wear and vibration during operation. Valves shall be
“Factory Mutual” approved through 12" size. Dual disc check valves shall be “CHEXX" series
as manufactured by The Metraflex Company®, Chicago, IL.

Series F900 - Foot Valve:
Foot valves shall be flanged, center-guided, silent, non-slam type. Valves shall have cast iron
body, bronze disc/seat, Buna-N seal, stainless steel spring, and stainless steel basket. Flange
drilling to be ANSI class 125. Valve inlet stainless steel screening, shall be basket shaped equal
to full flow area of the valve. Buna-N seal shall be so designed to provide an initial contact of
bronze to buna-N with final contact being metal to metal to prevent destruction of buna-N seal
ring. Foot valves shall be “Model #F900" as manufactured by The Metraflex Company®,
Chicago, IL.

Model BW/BL - Butterfly Valve:


Butterfly valves shall be of the wafer (BW) or lug (BL) body style. Cast iron body with ductile iron
nickel coated, bronze, or 316 stainless steel disc. Pressure rating of 200 psi @ 250°F (EPDM
seat) and 200°F (Buna-N seat). Valves to be supplied with 10-position lever lock handle, gear
operator, or bare stem for actuation. Butterfly valves shall be “Model BW/BL" as manufactured
by The Metraflex Company®, Chicago, IL.
