3.1 Introductory Using students’ cellphones or the teacher’s laptop, search on the internet for the meanings of

Process refers to a systematic series of actions directed to some end.

Ethics is a system of moral principles.

Answer:
1. Empirical, 2. Logical, 3. Cyclical, 4. Analytical, 5. Critical, 6. Methodical, and 7. Replicability

Activity 1: View the video and read the content of the chosen video. Then, list down the seven steps of the
research process.

1. Define and develop your topic (Research Problem).
2. Find background information about your chosen topic (Review of Related Literature).
3. Plan your research design including your sample (Methodology).
4. Gather necessary data using open-ended questions (for qualitative research) and closed-ended
questionnaires or paper pencil test questionnaires (for quantitative research) (Data-Gathering
Activities.
5. Process and analyze data using thematic analysis (for qualitative research) and statistical tools (for
quantitative research) - Interpretation of Data.
6. Formulate new insights gained (for qualitative research), conclusions (for quantitative research),
and recommendations.

3.3 Analysis The teacher will apply a range of teaching strategies to develop critical and creative thinking and other

The teacher will have to utilize the visualization strategy using the video of the topic: Describe the
characteristics, processes, and ethics of research.
The students shall be grouped into three (3) by just counting from one to three. The following groups of
students shall orally read their assigned tasks.
Group 1: After watching the video, the group of students will honestly compare and contrast the ethical
principles in research between Informed Consent and Honesty.
Answer:
Informed consent is required to secure and protect the rights of the research participants. It must be
voluntary while Honesty is also required wherein the researcher must not fabricate, falsify, or misrepresent the
data.
Group 2: Concerning the importance of research in daily life, honestly compare and contrast the ethical
principles in research between Respect for Intellectual Property and Confidentiality.
Answer:
Respect for Intellectual Property refers to giving credit where credit is due. Never plagiarize, fabricate, or
falsify research data while Confidentiality refers to protecting confidential communications.
Individual Outputs for Group 3: After watching the video, Group 3 members shall individually compare
and contrast the Ethical considerations in conducting research to Ethical Principles in Research.

Seven Steps of the Research Process

Research Ethics are guidelines for the responsible conduct of research which educates and monitors
research to ensure high standard
Ethical considerations in conducting research
1. Objectivity and integrity
2. Respect for the research subjects 'right to privacy and dignity and protection of subjects from personal harm.
3. Presentation of research findings.
4. Misuse of research role
5. Acknowledgement of research collaboration and assistance
6. Distortions of findings by the sponsor.
Ethical Principles in Research
1. Informed consent is required to secure and protect the rights of the participants in your study; voluntary
2. Honesty - Do not fabricate, falsify, or misrepresent the data.
3. Objectivity - Avoid bias in all aspects of research.
4. Integrity - Keep your promises and agreements; act with sincerity; strive for consistency of thought and
action.
5. Carefulness - Keep good records of all research activities.
6. Openness - Be open to criticism and new ideas.
7. Respect for Intellectual Property - Give credit where credit is due. Never plagiarize, fabricate, and falsify.
8. Confidentiality - Protect confidential communications.
9. Responsible Mentoring - Help to educate, mentor, and advise others.
10. Responsible Publication - Publish to advance research and scholarship.
11. Respect for colleagues - Respect your colleagues' opinions, treat them fairly, and do not outsmart others.

other factors.

17. Human Subject Protection - When researching human subjects, minimize harms and risks and maximize

Rights of Research Participants
1. Human Rights-The moral principles or norms that describe certain standards of human behavior and are
regularly protected as natural and legal rights.
2. Intellectual property protects creations of the mind, which have both a moral and a commercial value.
3. Copyright Infringement. Use or production of copyrighted material without permission of the copyright holder.
Examples:
a. Downloading movies and music without proper payment for use.
b. Recording movies in a theatre.
c. Using others' photographs for a blog without permission.
d. Copying software codes without giving proper credit.
e. Creating videos with unlicensed music clips.
4. Voluntary Participation-Prospective research participants must be informed about the procedures and risks
involved in research and must give their consent to participate.
5. Anonymity-Protection of people's identity through not disclosing their names or not exposing their identities.
6. Privacy. Someone's right to keep his personal matters and relationships secret.
Ethical Standards in Research Writing
Plagiarism. Act of using another person's idea, processes, and results without giving due credit.
Three types of plagiarism:
1. Failure to cite quotations and borrowed ideas,
2. Failure to enclose borrowed language in quotation marks, and
3. Failure to put summaries and paraphrases in your own words.
After the students have analyzed the summary of the lesson, they will have to choose the sub-topic. Then,
the teacher will require the class to generalize and reflect on their assigned topics.
