Ch-1 What is Success?

We know you’re reading this book because you want to be successful

in life. But success is not something to be given or taken. It is
something to be achieved by you and true success doesn’t die when
you die, it lives on. In this chapter we will give you some examples of
people who achieved big. When we further move on into their
biographies you will understand a lot more than what you know about
success now. Success is not money or fame, true success is achieving
your dreams. All the people we talk about in this chapter have one
thing in common, they all had a big dream which they achieved
which was the first step of their success. They then further
developed it. Now lets start with a short biography of Mr. Bill Gates,
the founder of microsoft who achieved a lot more than just money
and fame.

Mr. Bill Gates

Bill Gates was born in Seattle, Washington on October 28, 1955. He
was born to Mr. William Henry Gates and Mrs. Mary Maxwell Gates.
Early in his life he realized that his parents wanted him to pursue a
law career. But he wanted more than just being a lawyer. At 13, he
studied at Lakeside Prep school where he wrote his first software
program. He then took an interest in programing the GE system in
Basic. He continued his interest towards programing till he graduated
school and further decided to make his career out of it.

In 1975, he and his friend Alen first found the company microsoft in
New Mexico. It became the worlds largest personal computer
software. It was a huge success for the company. He led the company
as the founder and CEO until stepping down as the CEO in January,
2000. The next CEO was Steve Ballmer. Bill Gates still remained as
chairman of the board of directors and became chief software
architect. He retired from his career as the chairman in the February
of 2014. But still microsoft is one of the most used softwares in the
world till today, thanks to Mr. Bill Gates.

He had a big dream and achieved it brilliantly because of consistency

and concentration on the project.

Biography by: Santosh Viswanathan

You may think Bill Gates achieved everything because he was born
as a rich man. This is highly not true, he achieved because had an
idea and passion for his dream. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or
poor the only thing that matters is that you should dream big and
work hard and passionate with interest towards what you want. But
if you still think poor people cannot achieve anything in the field of
business here is the biography of Mr. Sundar Pichai who was not a
millionaire by birth.
Mr. Sunder Pichai

We can startup with a small story of Mr Sunder Pichai. He first used

landline phone tech knowledge at the age of 13 at a telephone booth
but now he is a founder of android which everybody is using now. Mr.
Pichai Sunderrajan was born on July 12th 1972 in Chennai. his family
was a middle-class family. Many of his classmates had teased him
with his thin and lean appearance but he didn’t take those as a
demotivation, he just ignored them.

As he graduated school he further wrote JEE - main exam and he

scored good marks in it too. He then got into IIT Kharagpur and got
his degree. He went to the USA searching for a good job. It was at
this time Google was vastly growing, so he joined in google as a
normal worker. But he kept getting promoted because of his passion
and hard work. That was when he had a great plan to develop a new
browser named “Chrome” and he said his perfect plan to the owner
of google, Mr. Larry Page who was impressed by his idea and readily
accepted to develop a new browser. The browser was released and
the response was awesome. The features in the browser were mind
blowing. More than 90% of the world started using Chrome. Due to
his mind-blowing success, he was promoted to the CEO of Google.
This was not the end of his career it was infact the beginning.

Biography by: Srimaan.k

This biography of Mr. Sunder Pichai well describes that money or

contacts doesn’t apply if you have a proper idea and knowledge
about your goals.

As we said success is not money or fame it is you achieving your

goals. We have talked about people who achieved fame and money in
the business field but now we shall talk about great people who
didn’t think about their career and struggled for us.

We will now see the biography of Mr. Martin Luther King Jr. who
fought against racial discrimination in the USA and gave freedom to
all the African- Americans. What he achieved was the true meaning
of success because he died over 50 years ago but he still lives in the
hearts of millions of people.
Mr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Mr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born on the fifteenth of January, 1929
which is now national celebrated as Martin Luther King’s day. What
did an African- American do to earn respect and have a special day
honouring him in the USA?

Infact King became friends with a white boy whose father owned a
business across the street from his family's home. In September 1935,
when the boys were about six years old, they started school. King had
to attend a school for black children, Younge Street Elementary
School, while his close playmate went to a separate school for white
children only. Soon afterwards, the parents of the white boy stopped
allowing King to play with their son, stating to him "we are white, and
you are colored". When King relayed the happenings to his parents,
they had a long discussion with him about the history of slavery and
racism in America.Upon learning of the hatred, violence and
oppression that black people had faced in the U.S., King would later
state that he was "determined to hate every white person". His parents
instructed him that it was his Christian duty to love everyone.

He was inspired by Mahatma Gandhiji as he grew up. He always went

with a quote, ‘I have a dream’ meaning it was his lifetime goal to ban
racial discrimination but when his dream finaly came true he couldn’t
even witness it for more than a year as a white hater of him had killed
him by gunshot. Millions of people were heartbroken but as he always
said, ‘ he had a dream and he made come true’.

Biography by: Santosh Viswanathan

He was a man who lived for the people and he earned his respect
we would like to tell you on our behalf, you need not take him as an
inspiration or be the next him all we request you is please respect
people like him and learn that what he achieved is the true meaning
of success.

Another person who lived for his people was Mahatma Gandhiji. Let
us know what a great kind of person he was in this biography of him.
Mahatma Gandhiji
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi commonly called Mahatma Gandhi
was born in Porbandar on October 2nd 1869 (it is celebrated as
Gandhi Jayanthi every October 2nd) he was excellent on studies and
he completed a lawyer’s degree in South Africa and became a
lawyer. After he became a lawyer he was very unhappy about racism
in South Africa. So he protested against the government and
destroyed racism South Africa he came to India after further studies
in South Africa. While he was travelling through a village when the
train crossing he saw farmers who were just wearing a small towel
on them to cover them. So from that day he was also Not wearing
coats and just wearing a small dothi and towel on him. Then he
followed the act of non
violence against the British. His protest were for true and valid
reasons. But he was still put in jail by the merciless British
government. But after long struggles he became one of the main
reasons India got freedom. He thus got the name “father of the
nation”. He not only got the name but got a place in everybodies
hearts too.

Biography by: Srimaan. K

Mahatma Gandhi is an example of a leader. A true leader like him

doesn’t use violence, ensures his desciples safety and sacrifices his
life for the nation. We would like to salute people like from our side.

In this chapter you would have come to know about famous people
and their achievements. But success is not oly about being famous
and making the whole world know you but there are some people
who we haven’t heard of or thought of but without them or their
sacrifices or their inventions be wouldn’t live happily now. We will
be talking about our hidden heros in the next chapter.

Ch-2 Is Success only Fame?

After the first chapter we think you would have got this question, ‘
Is success only fame?’. You may have got this question because we
discussed about famous people you already know. This is why we are
dedicating this chapter to the uncommon legends. We will include
several biographies such as Mr. Macroni, Mr. Thomas Sancara, etc.
These people we mentioned have invented things like the radio,
television, electricity which are essential everyday items. Even Mr.
Thomas Sankara has made the world a much more peaceful place to
live in without discrimination and slavery. You need not do anything
for them to make them famous now, but your small effect by knowing
their names by reading their biographies in this book and other books
and knowing their name and by happily licing the life they’ve given
us and not asking for more is the best we can do for them. So let us
start with a beautiful biography of a heroic person and freedom
fighter Mr. Thomas Sankara.
Mr. Thomas Sankara

Thomas Sankara was born on 21st December 1949 in Yaku village.

Sankara attended the primary school Bobo Dioulasso. He applied
himself seriously to his schoolwork and excelled in mathematics and
French. He also scored good marks in his exams and entered the
military academy of Kadigo in Ouagadougou with the academy's first
intake of 1966 at the age of 17. After basic military training in
secondary school in 1966, Sankara began his military career at the
age of 19 and a year later was sent to Madagaskar for officer training
at Antsirabe And after proving his ability After some years he was
promoted as Minister of Information in Saye Zerbo's military
government in September 1981 and he served as a president of
Burkina Faso from his cup in 1983 to his deposition and death in
1987. A Marxist–Leninist and pan-Africanist, he was viewed by
supporters as a charismatic and iconic figure of revolution and is
sometimes referred to as "Africa's Che Guevara". He was one of
Africa’s most courageous freedom fighters.

Biography by: Srimaan. K

Thomas Sankara was a great man both during studies and as a
leader. We must respect people like him who are ready to sacrifice
their lives for the well- being of their country.
Now, can you imagine a life without electricity difficult, right? But
do you know who invented it? Probably not, but in this next
biography is going to be in the honour of Sir Benjamin Franklin.
Sir Benfamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin FRS FRSA FRSE (January 17, 1706 [O.S. January
6, 1705 – April 17, 1790) was an American polymath who was active
as a writer, scientist, inventor, statesman, diplomat, printer,
publisher and political philosopher.[1] Among the leading intellectuals
of his time, Franklin was one of the Founding Fathers of the United
States
and the first United States Postmaster General. As a scientist, he was
a major figure in the American Enlightenment and the history of
physics for his discoveries and theories regarding electricity. As an
inventor, he is known for the lightning rod, bifocals, and the Franklin
stove, among other inventions. He founded many civic organizations,
including the Library Company, Philadelphia's first fire department,
and the University of Pennsylvania.[4] Franklin earned the title of "The
First American" for his early and indefatigable campaigning for
colonial unity, initially as an author and spokesman in London for
several colonies. As the first United States Ambassador to France, he
exemplified the emerging American nation. Franklin was foundational
in defining the American ethos as a marriage of the practical values
of thrift, hard work, education, community spirit, self-governing
institutions, and opposition to authoritarianism both political and
religious, with the scientific and tolerant values of the
Enlightenment. In the words of historian Henry Steele Commager, "In
Franklin could be merged the virtues of Puritanism without its
defects, the illumination of the Enlightenment without its heat."To
Walter Isaacson, this makes Franklin "the most accomplished
American of his age and the most influential in inventing the type of
society America would become."
As you read Sir Benjamin Franklin worked really hard to find
electricity so the best we can do for him is to not waste energy.

Next lets see about the person who invented the radio which was
almost said to be the invention of the century Sir Guglielmo Marconi.

Sir Guglielmo Marconi

Guglielmo Giovanni Maria Marconi was born on 25 April 1874 he was

an Italian. Marconi had an elder Brother(Alfonso) who is very kind and
help full Marconi. Marconi did not attend school instead he had
physics chemistry and maths tutors at his home appointed by his
parents. After his college days he was more interested in
machination engineering then after many failures due to his hard
work he found Radio which works in electricity. This technology rules
the earth for the next 150 years. He got a noble price for finding a
useful thing and also giving it to the public without any patterns and
he was honoured for his inelegance and logical thinking at 1900 from
the University of Bologna.

Biography by: Srimaan. K

Although we have finished his biography real quick his brain and
heart are bigger than this whole book. He was a person who accepted
bad comments, implemented useful comments and most importantly
he did not stop learning till his age of death. What we want you to
know here is that there is a whole universe of facts which cannot
even belearnt in a thousand births but all we want to say is that
don’t put a full stop to your education or knowledge even after
school or college.

Now lets finish up this chapter with a factfilled biography of Mr.

Philo Farnsworth.
Mr. Philo Farnsworth
As you read all Philo Farnsworth had was an idea and he further and
further developed it. That is the very basic point of achieving
something, first you need an idea, but thats not enough you need to
execute it properly. See an idea is not everything, if you have an
idea, even if it is a great idea without development and proper
execution it is useless. So if you want achieve something, need not
be your lifetime goal even if it is something really simple you should
never postponed it.

Thats the end of this chapter, we hope you’ve come to know about
something new in this chapter and we also hope that you understood
that true success is not only fame but its your victory, pride and
happiness.

We are dedicating the whole 3rd chapter for the biography of Mr.
Walt Disney. It is going to be a four page biography filled with
important and interesting facts.

Chapter 3 -How to be successful in life

To be successful in life, we need to know what should we do where is our destination
an example for this is . one day a man was going on a road and suddenly stopped on
intersection he asked an elderly man where does this road take me the elderly man
asked “where you need to go” the man said “I don’t know “ he said then you can take
any road that doesn't make any difference
Like this, we need first choose our destination of life and then start traveling
