Read the passage and complete each of the following sentences with NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS.
Light Pollution
Human inventions are often sources of environmental pollution, and light bulbs are no exception. Light pollution, the
excessive use of artificial light, impacts both human and animal lives.
Sources of artificial light are varied, ranging from the lights of cars and office buildings to big outdoor billboards. The
inappropriate or excessive use of these light sources turns night into day, which disturbs the natural body rhythms of humans
and animals. As a result, they may suffer from lack of sleep, tiredness, headaches, or stress. Animal behaviors such as
migration patterns or sleeping habits are also affected. For example, due to light pollution, sea turtles and birds which are
guided by light from the moon and stars become confused, lose their way, and often die. Given the harmful effects of light
pollution, actions are being taken to reduce it with laws introduced to control outdoor lighting. People are encouraged to use
outdoor lighting only when necessary and to direct the light down instead of up into the sky. Manufacturers have designed and
produced energy-saving light sources that also help reduce light pollution. All changes are aimed at bringing back the natural
