Artificial Intelligence is revolutionizing society and daily lives in many ways. While AI brings convenience through incorporation into jobs, medicine, transportation and more, overuse of technology can also cause issues like stress and job losses. If not implemented carefully, AI could also negatively impact education, healthcare and the arts. It is important to use AI responsibly and ensure it does not replace or define human lives in a discriminatory way.

The arrival of AI and how it is revolutionizing society

How Artificial Intelligence is making an impact in different aspects of society and our
daily lives.

Artificial Intelligence has burst upon us, revolutionizing in a significant way

our society and daily lives. You may have heard of, and even used the
ChatGPT program, to answer a question or do a simple task. This and other
programs are increasingly being incorporated into our daily lives for the most
varied uses in the most different sectors. In the job market, in medicine, in
transportation, in entertainment, in the food industry, in security, and even in
art, AI is there to give us convenience and ease in daily activities. But is it all a
bed of roses?
As we can see, in recent times, Artificial Intelligence is becoming more and
more present, and it won’t be long before everything revolves around it. It may
not seem like it, but if we take a closer look, it can have negative
consequences. We can start by saying that the overuse of technology has
become one of the main determinants of emotional and psychological issues.
There are several risks of technology to mental well-being, and the excess of
it can cause behavioral disorders, stress, insomnia, dependence and anxiety.
In the job market, Artificial Intelligence threatens job vacancies for human
workers with the automation of tasks performed by them. In the educational
sector, we also detect problems, such as technological dependence and lack
of human interaction, harmful to students’ development. In the medical sector,
a mistake made by a machine can be fatal. In the art sector, the creation and
interpretation of artistic works contradicts the concept of art, “the conscious
production of works, forms or objects aimed at the realization of an ideal of
beauty and harmony or at the expression of human subjectivity” according to
the dictionary.
In addition, if we stop to observe, artificial intelligence is significantly ahead
of human intelligence, and may even replace them, or be predictive in the
sense of defining the rule of law, freedom and people’s lives, because it can
be fueled by discriminatory biases that don’t comply with fundamental rights.
Despite this, we can’t turn a blind eye to that tool. The “replacement of human
beings” can be avoided, because despite its great skills, AI doesn’t have the
ability to lead, be ethically aware, be creative, have empathy, or generate
actions and knowledge spontaneously. All we need is to have responsibility
and balance in the way we’re going to use Artificial Intelligence.
