MYP YEAR 3 Coaching Plan on Cri D

TASK:
You are now allocated the role of a coach, you are to plan, deliver and reflect on a 15 MINUTE
coaching strategy that will improve an aspect of your team’s performance.

As a partnership (within your team) you will decide which skill you are coaching. Follow these
steps to complete the task:

1) GETTING STARTED
Choose one skill that you want your team to improve. You can choose from the list below, but
are not limited to these options. Once you have chosen the area, you must complete some
general research at home about the skill. After your research is complete you will coach your
team in this area.

Setter
Hitter/Spiker
OFFENSE Skills Passer/bump
Digger
Server
Other*

Setter: A setter’s main job is to set spikers. This is done by

waiting for a teammate to pass the ball to them.

Spiker: A spiker (attacker) is a player that attacks a ball over the

net. The spiker is a front row player and their main job is to spike
balls at the net down into the opponent's court.

Passer/bump: A passer is a player that passes the ball up to the

setter. The better a passer is able to pass, the easier it is for the
setter to set the spiker which results in a better attack by the
spiker and the more likely the ball is hit down into the opponent's
court for a point.
Digger: A digger is a defensive player that passes the ball up to
the setter. The digger is skilled at digging hard driven spikes and
chasing down off-speed shots (attacks) by the opponent.

Server: The server is the player on the team that puts the ball into
play to start the rally. The players that understand how to play
volleyball the best are typically the best servers on the team.

2) Research and developing your COACHING PLAN

After your general research you need to develop a coaching plan to improve your
team’s performance in your chosen area.

Focus on the following areas to assist you:

A) What is it specifically that you want your teammates to achieve/improve?

I want my teammate Julie to learn to bump in volleyball. I want to improve in her ways to
do the bump and i want to teach different drills of bump in volleyball for julie.

B) What do you want your team to be able to do after you have finished coaching?

I want my teammate julie to be perfect in her bump while playing the game
volleyball also i want to he to perform all the drills i will teaching her while the
coaching days

C) How are you going to improve their performance in this area?

-What specific activities are you going to implement?

The activities i will be implementing in my coaching session is she will throw

the ball and bump on her and one i will throw the ball she will bumps and
then she will throw the ball on her and bump it to me all keeping this aside
we play some game related to bump and also we will use different
techniques to learn the bump easily.
-What will be the structure of your coaching session?

My structure of coaching is :
● We will do warm up first and some stretching activities to get ready for the
practice
● Then we will practice the bump
● Lastly we will play a game related to bumping for points.

-How will you communicate this information?

I will be explaining her the game and i will be demonstrating the bump drills
I will not only simply talk but also i will show her everything and explain her
how to do it so i will maybe think of many ways to teach the drills to her i
will try my best to make her understand how to do the bump drills also this
information i will not talk and talk with her but also i will show her some
video how to perform the drills and i will explain also make her understand
the topic.

Document all research in MLA format.

TRAINING SESSION Template
You need to have three different practice activities for this assignment.
Three different activities for one skill that you have selected.

Activity (Technique tips) chosen this task/skill

am teaching her
this drill because
she can be perfect
in the bumping.

Debrief/Reflection after each practice session.

Day 1: As a Coach:

What went well?

As a coach I feel I have taught her well and I have made her
understand the drill and I made her learn the drill perfectly.

What was challenging?

I did not feel anything challenging while teaching her because

whatever i taught her she learnt it perfectly also she followed my
instructions and did the drills well so i felt nothing challenging while
teaching the drill to her.
Describe if you saw improvement - how can you tell?

I saw very much improvement in her bump while making her practice
when I first started teching her. She made a few mistakes like she
was not too perfect in her position but at the end of the drill practice
she became very perfect in that particular drill and I saw very much
improvement in that.

Explain if you managed your time well as a coach. How so?

I managed the time perfectly. There was 5 min of time i made the 5
min to 3 parts demonstrating for her, teaching her how to do it and i
made her practice the drill well so the given time was perfectly
managed by me.

As a Player:

Who was the coach?

My coach was Julie mok.

What went well?

I have learnt to do the bump. I have perfectly practiced to do the

bump and she made me learn perfectly. Also the time was also
perfectly sufficient for us i have understood very clearly to do the
bump.

What was challenging?

The challenging part for me is learning the bump. The position in the
bump was hard so it took a lot of time to learn it so I felt it very
challenging while doing the bump position.
What would you say to help them be more efficient in their
coaching?

I would say that she would be a little loud while talking or teaching the
instructions and I say it used to be better if she used to teach by
including more activities while teaching the drill so that it used to be
much fun while learning the drill.
Day 2: As a Coach:

What went well?

I have taught her to bump it to me so I made her perfectly learn to do

that and she passed me the ball by doing the bump perfectly.

What was challenging?

It felt challenging to make her understand some of the techniques I

want to teach her as she was quite confused with the instructions
given by me in this drill so I tried little to make her understand the
instructions.

Describe if you saw improvement - how can you tell?

I saw so much improvement during the practice of bump passes like

at the beginning of the practice she could bump it to me properly but
at the end of the practice she did it better and good so from the
beginning of the practice till the end i saw a lot of improvement in her
bump passes.

Explain if you managed your time well as a coach. How so?

I think i did not manage well as a coach because i planned many

acticited for her but i was not able to finish all the activities yet i have
almost completed them but in the end i felt it would be better if i had
more time.

As a Player:
Who was the coach?

My coach was Julie mok.

What went well?

I have learnt volleyball to throw the ball on my own and bump it on

my own to myself so I have learnt very perfectly. I have made some
mistakes but i learnt to do it well also the time was also sufficient and
i have learnt the drill very well.

What was challenging?

The challenging part for me was doing the drill properly like I have to
only throw the ball and bump it and also catch the ball so I felt that
was quite challenging. Also while doing the bump my hand was
hurting a lot so i faced small challenges but not very big still i have
learnt the drill perfectly.

What would you say to help them be more efficient in their

coaching?

I would say my coach that she only demonstrate me how to do and

explain also teach it i think that won’t be sufficient for learning the
drills i hope her to plan activities to make the learning more fun also
she may show some videos to me to make it understand for me more
clearly about the drill she is teaching.

Day 3: As a Coach:

What went well?

I have made her learn to do bump passes with her own throw like she
threw her own ball and passed it to me using the bump so i made her
learn it perfectly.

What was challenging?

There was nothing so challenging like she learnt it and everything
went well but the thing was we thought to practice with nets but the
place was crowded so we could not practice over there.

Describe if you saw improvement - how can you tell?

I saw very much improvement in her as at the beginning she did not
do the pass correctly or she was not doing that properly so at the end
she learnt it and she also became perfect in the drill so from the
beginning till end i saw a lot improvement in her.

Explain if you managed your time well as a coach. How so?

I managed the time perfectly. The time was 5 min i divided the time
perfectly i have explained her demonstrated her and made practice in
that time very well so the time was perfectly sufficient for me.

As a Player:

Who was the coach?

My coach was Julie mok.

What went well?

I have learnt to do the bump pass. I was not that perfect at doing that
but now as my coach taught me I have learnt the drill and I am now
perfect at doin the bump pass.

What was challenging?

The challenging part was passing the ball back to her using the bump
as it was very hard to do the bump back to her like i could not able to
do that at first but yet i overcame it by practicing it for many time and i
have learnt it now.
What would you say to help them be more efficient in their
coaching?

I say my coach would be more good at explaining like she did not
explain to me or demonstrate it properly the directly practice the drill
so i think she can explain how to do it and demonstrate the drill so
that i could be more perfect at the drill.
