Lesson Focus: Doubles Gameplay

Lesson Objectives (SWBAT):

1. Apply skills learned in lessons 1-4 throughout doubles gameplay (forehand grip, backhand grip, long
serve, short serve, ready position, formations, drops, and clears).
2. Demonstrate understanding of the rules and boundaries of badminton.
3. Demonstrate communication, teamwork, and sportsmanship during gameplay.

Plan for Differentiation

1. Use of verbal, visual, and kinesthetic cues to help all learners understand the taught skills.
2. If a student is injured or unable to play full games – they can help as a referee or join a group of 3 so they
can play some games but sub out for additional rest.
3. Short games so students can play a wide range of different teams and skill levels over the course of the
class. We have been splitting students between competitive and recreational the past few classes but for
today I want to have students interact with all other students in the class regardless of ability. Provides
opportunities to assess sportsmanship and cooperation.
