Mixed Gas Laws

Worksheet # 1

Name Gr. & Sec

Solve the following. Show your answer in G.R.E.S.A form and identify what type of gas law is
being observe in each problem.

1) A balloon is filled with 35.0 L of helium in the morning when the temperature is 20.00 C. By noon the
temperature has risen to 45.00 C. What is the new volume of the balloon?

2) There are 135 L of gas in a container at a temperature of 2600 C. If the gas was cooled until the
volume decreased to 75 L, what would the temperature of the gas be?

3). 6.0 L of gas in a piston at a pressure of 1.0 atm are compressed until the volume is 3.5 L. What is the
new pressure inside the piston?
4.) The initial volume of a gas at a pressure of 3.2 atm is 2.9 L. What will the volume be if the pressure is
increased to 4.0 atm?

5). A weather balloon has a volume of 35 L at sea level (1.0 atm). After the balloon is released, it rises to
where the air pressure is 0.75 atm. What will the new volume of the weather balloon be?

6). A sample of N2 has 1.70 moles and occupies 3.80L at 25C.

a. What volume will it occupy with 2.60 moles?

b. How many moles are in a sample that occupies 1.45 L?

7. How many moles of oxygen will occupy a volume of 2.50 L at 1.20 atm and 250C

8. Calculate the number of moles of gas occupying 742 ml at STP.

9. Calculate the molecular weight of a gas with the density of 2.8 g/L at 20C and 600 torr.

10. From the equation: 2C2H2 + 7O2 → 4CO2 +6H2O

Calculate the volume in liters of CO2 at STP that could be produced from 0.825g of O2.
