Project action plan and timetable:

This section provides you with an opportunity

to outline your planning and organisation

It is important that you consider how you will

balance ambition, time and realism in the
realisation of the project. You should also
include what you are going to do, how you
will do it and by when. Remember to include:
time spent sourcing materials and other
resources to conduct research, feedback from
tutors and peers, and when you will carry out
independent study.

Bibliography (Harvard Format):

This section provides an opportunity to record

the initial research sources, both primary and
secondary, that you intend to use.

Your sources of research should be as wide

as possible and could include libraries,
galleries, books, magazines, films, computer
games, websites, blogs, social media, radio
programmes, archive material etc. Where
appropriate, you should use the Harvard
system of referencing. The bibliography
should be continuously updated as the
project progresses.

Project Title
Three short films with a promotional poster

Section 1: Rationale
(approx. 150 words) In the other twelve units of this course, I have learned how to produce a range
of media products in the film, photography and audio categories. This has
helped me to broaden my knowledge of these products and their production
processes, as well as gain and develop my skills. Some examples of skills that
I have gained and further developed are technical skills from learning how to
use Panasonic video and DSLR cameras, software skills from having access to
the Adobe Creative cloud and being able to use programs such as Premiere
and Photoshop as well as other non-Adobe programs such as QuarkXPress,
creativity skills from producing ideas for audio, film and photography products
and communication and organisation skills from planning my production and
arranging interviews and shooting dates with others. My skills have influenced
my timing plans for my FMP as I have given myself more time in areas where
my skills are weaker.

Section 2: Project
Concept The concept for my final major project is to produce three short films, each with
(approx. 200 words) a runtime of two to three minutes, and a promotional poster for the three films
combined for a target audience of unisex 16 to 25 year olds. These three short
films will each have a particular colour associated with it which will be reflected
in the mise-en-scene of the film and further enhanced in the post-production
process using colour grading. The colours I have in mind for this are the
primary colours of red, blue and yellow because of their natural links to each
other. The plot of my films will each focus on different attitudes towards
relationships, with red being in love, yellow being on-the-fence and blue being
negative. These colours will be reflected in the poster I create for these. For
this idea, I will research the BBFC classification system as well as conduct a
questionnaire on my planned products for my target audience. I will analyse
short films and short film posters and then establish the codes and conventions
of both to help me create my products. Then, I will create shot lists for my films
and sketch my poster and conduct my filming over different days with my
people. I will then edit my products with a focus on reflecting the colours
needed in the films.

Section 3: Evaluation
(approx. 150 words) Throughout my final major project, I will evaluate my work in different stages.
First, I will produce a reflective diary at the end of each lesson or when I
complete an important stage in my project, which will detail what I have
learned, what skills I have developed and why these will help me in the
upcoming stages of my final major project. As well as this, I will detail any
problems, changes or issues I may have faced and what I have done or will do
to overcome them. Secondly, I will complete an evaluation of each production
stage at the end of each, also highlighting what I have learned, what skills I
have developed and why they will help and any issues I overcame. Finally, I
will complete an evaluation of all of the stages of my project, detailing what I
have learned through each stage of production, my strengths and weaknesses,
what skills I have developed and what I could have done differently.
