3.1 ProSafe-RS Windows Start Menu Options and Documentation
This section will introduce the student to options which are available in the Windows Start Menu and
the ProSafe-RS documentation.

3.1.1 Windows Start Menu Options

From the Start Menu the following options are available, after the [Programs], [YOKOGAWA
ProSafe-RS] have been selected:
1. Maintenance
In the maintenance option, 2 choices can be made:
· Logsav
This option takes (depending on computer, network, etc) approximately 5 minutes.
It will start a DOS command prompt window. The result will be a Diagnostic Report
which will be saved to a file. This report includes for example:
§ Saving registry
§ Saving RS log files
§ Saving Install Log files
§ Saving Keycode files
§ ..
§ …
§ Network Information Report
· SCS Master DB Recover:
Engineering target data (the work database) become valid again when the work database
and the master database do not match.
2. Online Manual:
· Document map
The documents which can be found on the Windows [Start] menu
· Read me first
This document describes how to handle the other documents, safety precautions,
hardware notes and other important Warnings and Cautions
· Workbench
This option is equal to the [Help] option when selected from the workbench.
3. Message Cache Tool:

Messages such as diagnostic information and acquisition message from the SOE are checked
by this Message Cache Tool. It is also possible to manage the collected data by this tool.
4. SCS Status Overview
The SCS Status Overview window displays a list of SCSs assigned to a given RS project.
A handy tool to see if there any errors occurring in a SCS.
5. SOE OPC Parameter Setting
In this tool you can set all kind of parameters related to a OPC interface (for the
Alarm&Event Server or for the HDA Server if Exaquantum is used)
6. SOE Viewer
With the SOE Viewer it is possible to display Diagnostic and SCS events.
7. Software Configuration Viewer
Software Configuration Viewer is a tool that displays information related to the ProSafe-RS
software installed on a PC. Software Configuration Viewer has for example the following
functions.
· Displaying the system release number
· Displaying the program revisions
· Displaying registry information
8. Version Control Tool
The Version Control Function is intended for controlling the revision history of SCS projects
to support users’ system update. The Version Control Function can perform for example the
following functions.
· Check-in of project data
· Check-out of project data
· Deletion of Versions
· Deletion of projects for check-in data
· Reading of version information
· Printing of version information
· Designation of check-in folders
· Designation of SCS project to be controlled
9. Workbench
Also called the SCS Manager.
This is the User Interface to the ProSafe-RS.

3.1.2 Documentation

For HELP information there are two kinds of possibilities:

· The online manual from the Windows Start menu.


· The [Help] menu of the Workbench. This help information can also be started from the Windows
Start menu.

3.1.2.1 Online Manual from the Window Start menu
Online Help can be requested from the Windows Start menu. Three options are available:
1. Document Map:
This option will call up a list of Instruction Manuals.
2. Read Me First:
Explains how the Instruction Manuals should be read.
3. Workbench:
Executes the same help information as from the Workbench [Help] option.

3.1.2.2 Online [Help] from the Workbench
The help information from the Workbench can be requested at any time.
By using the [Help] menu option (see figure below) or by pressing the function key <F1>.
