Type of the lesson:
Topic: Cooking. A traditional Ukrainian dish- borsch.
Aims and objectives: to achieve students’ vocabulary; to develop students’ reading skills; to practice
speaking in dialogues and monologues; to deepen students’ knowledge of national cuisines of Ukraine;
to promote interest in studying English.
Teaching aims, materials, equipment: a book, a copybook, a computer, handouts, cards.
Activities: T- Cl, P1 –P2, Class, Pair work, Group work.

Procedure
I. Introduction
II. Greeting: T-Morning children. I’m so happy to see you.
Cl- Good morning,teacher. We are happy to see you too.
T- We’re having a demonstrative lesson today and a lot of guests. Please, let’s
greet our guests.
Cl – Good morning, teachers. Happy to see you.
T – So,go ahead. Before starting our lesson let’s make compliments to each
other. Children ,make a circle and make compliments.
III. Warming-up
1) Pupil’s on duty report.
T- By the way, ….you are on duty today. Make a report,please.
2) Weather chant: T- You know,when two Englishmen meet,their first talk of conversation
is about the weather.
T-……., what is the weather like today?
Pupil’s on duty………
T- Now, look at these pictures and make a short conversations about the weather.

P1-P2, P3-P4,P5-P6.
IV. Phonetic drills.
T- Let’s train our tongues. Look at this tongue-twister and read it as quickly as possible:
Good Cook.
“ How many cookies could a good cook cook? If a good cook could cook cookies. A good
cook could cook as much cookies as a good cook who could cook cookies”

V. Main Part of the Lesson
1) Topic Presentation.
T- Today we are going to continue our work on the theme “Food”. The topic of our
today’s lesson is “ A traditional Ukrainian cuisine. Cooking a traditional Ukrainian

dish- borsch”.
VI. Practice.
1) Pair Work. Vocabulary Revision.
a) Read and translate the words on the topic “Food” and your task is to find the odd
one.

2) Group Work. Let’s check your speaking skills. Your task is to remember some
information about one of your favourite traditional Ukrainian dish and make a short
report.

T- It’s time to talk about your eating habits. I think that everybody likes a traditional
Ukrainian dish –borsch. Listen to the recipe of this dish. Pay attention to the ingredients,
kitchen equipments and methods of cooking.( Children are watching video).
