5. In twelve years’ time, a father will be two and a half times as old as his daughter. Two years ago,
the sum of their ages was 28 years. How old will be the father when the daughter is 18 years old.

6. Lines are drawn so as to divide a rectangle 40 cm long by 24 cm wide into equal squares. Find the

18. (a) A bookstore had 61 632 exercise books which were packed in cartoons. Each carton contained
24 exercise books. The mass of an empty carton was 2.5 kg and a full carton 12.5 kg

21. A group of 240 people planned to contribute sh. 4 800 000 to start a business. However, before
contributions were made 80 members pulled out.
(a). Find the initial amount of money each member in the group was to contribute.
(2 Marks)

(b). After the 80 members pulled out, calculate the new amount each member contributed
(2 Marks)

(c). fourty new members joined the group just before the business started. As a result, the old
members were refunded some money. How much was refunded per member
(3 Marks)

(d). Calculate the percentage change between the amount to be contributed by 240 members and the
one contributed by current members (3 Marks)
