Stone Age Quick Reference SETUP, BUILDING and CARD NOTES, and GAME END

SETUP
1 – Sort Food tiles (circle tokens) by value and place in stacks on the hunting grounds (upper-left of main board).
2 – Place all wood in the forest, brick in the clay pit, stone in the quarry, and gold in the river.
3 – Sort the Tools into 2 piles: 1 showing the “1” tools and 1 showing the “3” tools and place in the main board middle.
4 – Shuffle the Civilization cards and place the face-down draw pile off the lower-right of the main board.
5 – Draw cards 1 at a time to fill the main board’s card spaces, from right to left.
6 – Shuffle the Building tiles face-down and make 4 stacks of 7 tiles. Place stacks on lower-left of main board.
7 – Remove 1/2 Building tile stacks from game for 3/2 players.
8 – Each player takes a player board, 5 People, 12 in Food tiles, and 2 cubes. Place People on player board.
9 – Place 1 cube on 0 of food track (0-10). Place 1 cube on 0 of score track (0-99).
10 – Make a supply out of the remaining 5 People per player and return unused components to the box.
11 – Choose a start player and give him the start player figure.

BUILDING TILE NOTES


1) If upper-left of tile has a value (on a shield), score those points after paying shown resources.
2) If tile shows “1-7 [Resources]” return between 1 and 7 Resources and score points…
Wood: 3 points. Brick: 4 points. Stone: 5 points. Gold: 6 points.
3) If tile shows “5[Resources] (3[Resources])” return 5 resources of exactly 3 different types & score points as above.

CIVILIZATION CARD NOTES When taking card, activate upper part of card.
1) ITEMS FOR DICE:
a) Roll 1 die for each player in game.
b) Put each die near its picture on the card.
c) Beginning with active player and going clockwise, each player discards a die and takes its corresponding
Resource, Tool, or increase on food track.
NOTE: No Tool use allowed here.
2) FOOD: Take value of Food tiles shown on card from supply.
3) RESOURCE: Take corresponding resource.
4) RESOURCE WITH DIE ROLL: Roll 2 dice and take Resource shown as during that normal Resource action.
NOTE: May use TOOLS here.
5) POINTS (on shield): Score those points immediately.
6) +1 TOOL: Take 1 Tool, as with Tool Maker.
7) +1 [FOOD TRACK]: Move your cube up 1 on the food track, as with Field.
8) ADDITIONAL CARD: Take 1 Civilization card from the draw pile, look at it, and add it face-down to your board.
NOTE: Do not activate the upper part.
9) TOOL: Place face-up near board. Use later in game (once), then place face-down on your board.
NOTE: Does not count as a Tool in SCORING.
10) [2 RESOURCES]: Take any 2 Resources anytime later in the game, then place face-down on your board.

END OF GAME Occurs when 1 of these things happens.


1) Not enough Civilization cards to fill holes during NEW ROUND. End game immediately.
2) At least 1 Building tile stack is empty. Finish this round.

SCORING Each players scores individually.


1) Sort Civilization cards by bottom part of card (GREEN: 8 different symbols, 2 of each, 20 SAND).
2) GREEN-BOTTOM cards: Score (A x A) points, where A is the # of different GREEN card bottoms.
3) GREEN-BOTTOM cards: Score (B x B) points for B extra GREEN bottom cards that are duplicates of above.
EXAMPLE: 1 Healing, 2 Art, 2 Writing scores (3 x 3) + (2 x 2) = 13 points.
4) SAND-BOTTOM Farmers: Score number of farmers shown on cards TIMES food track level.
5) SAND-BOTTOM Tool Makers: Score number of tool makers shown on cards TIMES Tool total.
6) SAND-BOTTOM Hut Builders: Score number of hut builders shown on cards TIMES # of buildings.
7) SAND-BOTTOM Shamen: Score number of shamen shown on cards TIMES # of people.
8) Resources: Score 1 point for each.
9) Most points wins.
a) Tie? Of tied players, winner has the highest total of food track level, Tools, and People.

Stone Age Quick Reference GAME PLAY

The game lasts many rounds, until an END OF GAME condition occurs.
ROUND OVERVIEW
1) PLACE PEOPLE
a) The start player plays 1 or more People on 1 place on the main board.
b) Going clockwise, each player does the same until all People are placed on the main board.
PLACEMENT RULES:
I) Each person may get multiple turns, maybe some more than others.
II) A player may not add more People to a place already containing his People.
III) Tool Maker and Field can hold 1 People each.
IV) Hut will hold exactly 2 People of 1 color. They must be placed together.
2/3 Players: Only 2 of the above 3 may be occupied each round. May be different each round.
V) Resources places: Forest, Clay Pit, Quarry, and River can hold 7 People each.
2/3 Players: Only 1/2 players may occupy each of these Resource places.
VI) A Civilization card and a Building tile can hold 1 People each.
VII) There is no limit on the max for the Hunt, but mind PLACEMENT RULE II.
2) PEOPLE ACTIONS
a) Each player, beginning with the start player, activates all of his placed People.
b) Each player may choose to activate his People in any order and return them to his board when done.
NOTE: You can always change your mind and decide to NOT perform an action.
ACTIONS:
I) Tool Maker: Add a Tool to your board. Progression: 1 -> 1-1 -> 1-1-1 -> 2-1-1, etc. Max 4-4-4 for 12 Tools.
II) Hut: Add 1 People from the supply to your board.
III) Field: Move your cube up 1 on the food track.
IV) Hunt: Roll 1 die for each of your People here. Take 1 in Food for every 2 pips. May use TOOLS here.
TOOLS:
a) After you roll the dice, you may add any number of your Tools to the roll.
b) Each 1 in Tools adds 1 to the total of the roll.
c) When using a Tool, you must use the full Tool, even if it produces a remainder. Turn Tool 90°.
d) Each Tool may be used only once per ROUND, and is reset at ROUND end.
V) Forest, Clay Pit, Quarry, River: Same as Hunt, but get 1 wood/brick/stone/gold for every 3/4/5/6 pips.
NOTE: May use TOOLS here.
VI) Civilization card: Pay # of Resources shown above card (no food) to take card.
NOTE: May choose to not take card, if cannot pay resources or just not desired.
a) Activate upper part of card and place face-down on upper-right of player board.
VII) Building tile: Pay the Resources shown on the bottom of the tile to move your score marker.
a) Place Building on an open Building space on your player board. Stack if more than 5.
b) Turn over next Building tile on main board’s supply.
3) FEED PEOPLE
a) Each player takes a value of food tiles equal to their current food track level.
b) Each player returns 1 food for each People on his board to the supply.
c) Not enough food?
I) Must place all available food back in supply.
II) Pay 1 Resource for each food still owed (trade for food).
III) Don’t want to pay Resources or still not enough to feed People? Lose 10 points. Can go negative.
4) NEW ROUND
a) Shift Civilization cards right and fill holes (with drawn cards) from right to left.
b) Reset any used Tools on player boards.
c) Pass the start player figure left.
