PLOT
EXPOSITION
Yunus felt emptiness and solitude in life.

Yunus walked along the shore on a beach in Neapolis. It was

his birthday, he was finally returning home.

All his reading, writing, walks, conversations with friends, and

all his other activities and endeavors wouldn't suffice to fill
even a little of its alarming emptiness.
RISING ACTION
He had decided to settle in Neapolis thinking that writing
might be more beneficial than at any other time.

But everytime he picked up a pen and a piece of paper,

words fled like birds fly away from a hunter.

The victories he had encouraged his soul to anticipate

had never been achieved.
CLIMAX
While Yunus was walking alone, there was a sudden
commotion on the beach where he was. Figures
approached him rapidly. He stopped walking only to
find himself surrounded by a group of drunk young
men. They were glowering, and sparks flew from
their eyes.
CLIMAX
They attacked him and began kicking him, cursing
and insulting him, spitting at him. Then they ripped
his suit off and cast it into the sea. Blood began to
flow, and he was about to pass out.
FALLING ACTION
One of the young drunk men realized that they
mistakenly thought of Yunus as someone who has a
high position in the country. It is because Yunus was
wearing a fancy suit and a fancy shoes while
strolling on the beach.
DENOUEMENT
The group of young drunk men left him alone in the
beach and blamed him for wearing a fancy suit and a
fancy shoes.
He remained where he had been dumped on the cold
sand, unable to move.
DENOUEMENT
With difficulty he opened his eyes. He remembered
Abu Hayyan al-Tawhidi’s words: Life is short. The
hours fly past. Motion is perpetual. Opportunities
glitter brightly. When strings play music, they
approach each other and then separate. As souls
expire, they dissolve and catch fire.
SUMMARY
Yunus is a professor who felt emptiness and solitude in life.Yunus walked
along the shore. It was his birthday, he was finally returning home. He has
chosen to settle in Neapolis thinking that writing might be more beneficial
than at any previous time. Therefore, he decided to devote himself to it
seriously, but whenever he starts to write, words fled from him like birds fly
away from a hunter. His mother dreamed of swimming in the sea in her green
wrap. His mother told her dream to her friend Dhahabiya but she failed to
interpret it so Dhahabiya suggested his mother to seek out Master Ammar.
Master Ammar told his mother the story of the prophet Yunus. Master
Ammar advice his mother to name her baby Yunus, if it was a boy. His
mother followed Master Ammar's advice and named her baby Yunus.
Once he became conscious of the world around him, his mother
liked to entertain him from time to time with the unique tale of the
prophet Yunus. When she finished, he would imagine himself as the
Prophet. When he was five and had begun to memorize the Qur'an,
he was in a hurry to reach the sura "Yunus" Whenever he finished
the Qur'an sixty sections, he would parade through the village with
the slate on which he had written the revelatory verses. Then men
and women would bless him, stroking his small head with their
hands while praying for his success and achievements, by the grace
of God, of his messenger, and of the righteous saints.
Two years before her mother died, he brought her to the Capital. Accompanied
by his wife and their daughter Maryam, he took his mother to the seashore for the
first time, at the harbor beach, early in the summer. They spent three hours there.
When they are returning home he asked his mother, "What did you think of the
sea?"She smiled and replied, "Exactly like the sea I saw when I was pregnant with
you!"The victories he had encouraged his soul to anticipate had never been
achieved, and his marriage failed miserably.A group of young drunk men attacked
him verbally and physically by shouting at him, kicking him, cursing and insulting
him till he laid on the sand full of bruises. Then he remembered Abu Hayyan
Al-Tawhidi's words: Life is short. The hours fly past. Motion is perpetual.
Opportunities glitter brightly. When strings play music, they approach each other
and then separates. As souls expire, they dissolve and catch fire.
THEME
Life is fleeting and temporary, people must get
the value and meaning of their lives as having
