MAIN CHARACTER'S BEDROOM - DAY
The main character, JOHN, is sitting at his desk, surrounded by textbooks and notes. He looks frustrated and overwhelmed. JOHN (to himself): "I can't do this. I'm never going to pass this class." John's phone buzzes. He picks it up to see a text from his bad friend, MIKE. MIKE (text): "Hey man, let's skip class and hang out instead." John hesitates for a moment, but then starts to pack up his things. CUT TO: EXT. CAFETERIA - DAY John and Mike are sitting at a table, laughing and joking around. John looks relieved to be away from his studies. MIKE: "Dude, why are you stressing so much about school? It's not that important." JOHN: "I don't know, I just feel like I need to do well." MIKE: "Nah, man. You need to live a little. Come on, let's go do something fun." John starts to stand up, but then his phone rings. It's his good friend, SARAH. JOHN: "Hey Sarah, what's up?" SARAH: "Hey John, I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing with your studies." JOHN: "Uh, not great. I'm really struggling." SARAH: "Well, don't give up. You're smart and capable, and you can do this. We're all here to support you." John looks conflicted, torn between his desire to have fun with Mike and his need to study. A flashback starts CUT TO: INT. JOHN'S LIVING ROOM - DAY John's parents, JIM and LISA, are sitting on the couch, looking concerned. JIM: "I don't know what to do. John's grades are slipping, and he seems so unmotivated." LISA: "We just need to keep encouraging him. He's a smart kid, he just needs to apply himself." JIM: “ we should talk to him” CUT TO: INT. MAIN CHARACTER'S BEDROOM – NiGHT JIM: “ Hey son how are you?” JOHN: “ Ohh Hi dad and mom I’m okay, I’m Just having a hard time doing my studies “ JIM: “Well son I’ll give you a tip if you’re having a hard time just take a deep breather, then try to pressure yourself whatever you do we’re here to support you.” LISA: “We’re proud of you son.” CUT TO: EXT. CAFETERIA - DAY John is still sitting with Mike, but he looks distracted. MIKE: "What's up man? You seem like you're not even here." JOHN: "I don't know. I just feel like I should be studying." MIKE: "Come on, don't be a buzzkill. Let's go do something fun." John hesitates, but then he remembers his family and friends who are counting on him. JOHN: "Actually, I think I'm going to go study. I need to pass this class." MIKE: "Whatever man, suit yourself." CUT TO: INT. JOHN'S BEDROOM - DAY John is back at his desk, surrounded by his textbooks and notes. He looks determined and focused. JOHN (to himself): "I can do this. I just need to keep pushing myself." CUT TO: INT. GRADUATION CEREMONY - DAY John is walking across the stage, wearing his cap and gown. His family and friends are cheering for him. JIM: "I'm so proud of you, son." LISA: "You did it, John. You worked hard and you earned this." SARAH: "I knew you could do it. Congratulations!" Mike is nowhere to be seen.
