Worthy Superintendent Engineer,

GSO Circle IESCO,

Islamabad
(Through Proper Channel)

Subject: REPLY OF EXPLANATION

Ref: 867-68/S.E(GSO)IESCO/ISD dated 09/01/2024

Respected Sir,
Regarding above mentioned letter, I would like to express my commitment to maintaining the highest
standards of efficiency in the performance of my duties as the Assistant Engineer (T) Subdivision # II IESCO
Islamabad. I am fully aware of the responsibilities that come with this crucial role.

Since assuming this post approximately four months ago, I have been diligently working to understand
and optimize operations under my jurisdiction. Active involvement in day-to-day operations and
continuous efforts to enhance overall efficiency have been at the forefront of my responsibilities.

I have ensured regular surveillance and inspections, including a surprise visit at 132kV GSS D-12 in the last
week of November to inspect ongoing civil work in the allied residential colony and Grid Station. Necessary
instructions regarding ongoing civil work and routine inspection of Grid Station equipment were issued
during this visit.

Regrettably, frequent routine visits to the Grid Stations have been challenging due to ongoing annual
maintenance schedules and the simultaneous implementation of earthing reinforcement projects at
132kV GSS Tramri, E-8, and G-5. My primary focus in recent weeks has been supervising ongoing annual
maintenance activities, earthing projects, and coordinating shutdowns for preventive maintenance at
substations under my jurisdiction to enhance reliability during the peak season. These projects are crucial
for ensuring the long-term reliability and safety of our transmission infrastructure.

Due to departmental promotion training of Mr. Athar Waseem (SSO Incharge 132kV GSS D12), Mr.
Majeedullah SSO-I (being the senior most) was nominated as SSO Incharge 132 kV GSS D-12 by the
undersigned. While weekly checking of the battery bank is included in the duties of SSOs, verbal
instructions have been consistently communicated to all In-charges. Throughout this period, I have not
been intimated about any deteriorated conditions of the battery bank by the concerned in-charge or staff,
despite the maintenance staff of this subdivision being engaged in the annual maintenance schedule.

Considering the aforementioned circumstances, I kindly request your understanding and reconsideration
of the characterization of this incident as negligence on my part. I am committed to learning from this
experience and implementing any necessary improvements in our operational procedures to prevent
similar incidents in the future. I remain dedicated to upholding the standards of excellence expected in
this role and look forward to your continued guidance and support.

Regards,
Rao Faheem Ahmed
AET-II IESCO Islamabad
