I sat watching my daughter and her friends have a
very normal conversation for them, but for me it
was outlandish, absurd and quite an interesting
conversation.
A Beauty
Meaning- A person who is chill and a
legend

A Bit Britney
Meaning- When you feel fat,
bloated, pimply, ugly and just
generally unattractive.

Meaning- To throw away, vanish,
disappear, to be wiped of
existence

Meaning- When something is amazing.
When said; usually accompanied by your
hand to your mouth in the chef kissing
motion

I was anticipating that the assignment could contain multiple vocabulary and phrases that I was inexperienced
with. I was a little nervous to look up them and find out what they suggested. You're never quite sure as an adult
whether you want to know what teenagers are talking about or not. This assignment really lived up to my expectations; I
learned a few terms and expressions that looked rather hilarious and like things I would have used if I had known them
earlier.

Teenagers create a unique vocabulary that separates themselves from others. They now have something that they
can connect to and be proud of. Their vocabulary can vary from that of adults and other teenagers from other parts of
the country, as not all regions speak the same dialect, further contributing to their sense of it being a part of their
subculture. I am aware that as a teenager, I used vocabulary and expressions that grownups did not. At that age, my
parents only wanted to build a connection with me, so whenever they asked, I would tell them exactly what they meant.
You need to have a strong knowledge of morphology, be able to use the terms correctly, as well as understand their
meanings in order to create a vocabulary such as this. While teenagers are clever and adaptable to most circumstances,
you still have to understand language if you want to be able to switch up everyday words and create something original.
Adults may find it comical or confusing, yet teenagers have developed their own language.

In the classroom, I'll use a straightforward method called questioning. I am going to ask if a student says anything
and I'm not sure I recognize what they are saying or meaning. Having learned this, my approach to teaching this in a
classroom will remain unchanged. It will be helpful in the classroom to know that children can adapt and absorb up
language very quickly; all I need to do is make learning entertaining and exciting lessons.
