APPLICATIONS AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants for Post-Matric programmes must have passed Grade 12 / N3 / Level 4 or an
equivalent qualification. However, when applying for Engineering Studies, matriculants
should have passed an appropriate technical subject.
Admission to pre-grade 12 / National Certificate Vocational (NCV) programmes require a
Grade 9 certificate.
June and September results may be used for early applications.
All programmes are subject to a placement and selection process.
Note: Online Applications are open.

REGISTRATION PERIODS
• Trimester courses register three times a year: January, April/May and August/September
(Engineering Studies N1 - N6).
• Semester courses register twice a year: January and July (Business & General Studies
N4 - N6).
• Year courses National Certificate Vocational (NCV) Level 2 - 4 register once a year in
January.
Note: Registration for Online Learning starts on 09 January 2024.

REGISTRATION / ENROLMENT PROCEDURES

The following is required upon registration:

• Proof of residential address
• Relevant contact details
• Kits, stationery and learning materials (where applicable for student account)
• Where applicable kits, stationery and learning materials (to be
paid upon registration - for your own account)
• Preferably accompanied by a parent / guardian if under 18.

Foreign students must have their Certificates evaluated by SAQA. They must have a valid
study permit until the end of the relevant study period. Certificates can be evaluated by
SAQA: Postnet Suite 248 / Private Bag X06, Waterkloof, 0145 or visit their website
www.saqa.org.za.

COURSE FEES
Northlink College prescribes course (study) fees which are determined prior to the beginning
of each academic year. All fees must be paid in full before a student can be granted
permission to write the National Examination.

DHET TVET COLLEGE BURSARY

In order to be eligible to apply for the DHET TVET College bursary scheme, a student must meet the
following criteria:
• South African Citizen
• Registered or intending to register for a NC(V) or Report 191 programme (N1 to N6)
• Financially needy with evidence of good academic potential
• Evidence of good academic performance should be provided for all levels.

DHET TVET College Bursary Scheme: (All bursary applications are subject to approval). This is a
bursary (not a loan). Please contact the relevant campus for further information regarding bursary
requirements and supporting documentation.

EVALUATION AND EXAMINATIONS

Programmes are theoretically assessed by means of an assessment task (tests and assignments). Since
practical competency is continually evaluated, 100% class attendance is compulsory. A theoretical
examination takes place in June and November for Business & Utility Studies and at the end of each
trimester for Engineering Studies.

Practical evaluation is done throughout the course. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure
that he / she is registered for the National Examinations and for the correct subjects. A minimum
year mark of 40% and an 80% class attendance is required to enter for the National Examinations
and qualify for an exam permit.

For NC(V) there is a National Examination in November with a minimum continous assessment mark.
To gain entry into the exam, a valid ICASS, a practical assessment mark (ISAT) and 80% attendance
is required.

SPORT, ARTS AND CULTURE

• Inter Campus & Club Sport includes: Soccer, Rugby, Netball, Athletics, Chess,
Table Tennis & Karate.
• Cultural Activities include: Poetry, Dancing, Choir & Music.
• Music & Self defence Programs are offered to all students.
• Social and professional club sport includes soccer, rugby, athletics, cricket, hockey and netball.
• Sports, Arts & Culture activities compete in Inter Campus Sport, Regional and National
Competitions.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
SAQA CERTIFICATE
International school qualifications must be evaluated by SAQA. When applying to study, this
evaluation letter from SAQA must be attached to the school qualifications. This is a requirement
from DHET and no application will be considered without this document. This process takes
time, start well in advance please. Visit saqa.org.za and follow these steps: 1. SAQA application;
2. Services; 3. Evaluation of foreign qualifications.

SAQA VISAS
Only after a student has been accepted to study at Northlink, an acceptance letter from
Northlink will be issued which they can use to apply for a study visa. This applies to all students
using passports to travel.

Students making use of refugee papers or asylum sekker papers do not need a study visa.

FEES PAYABLE

• All fees must be paid in full upon registration.

• No financial agreements can be entered into

• No NSFAS funding is available.

• Please familiarise yourself with the fee structure.

GENERAL
• Full-time lectures are offered from 08:00 – 17:00
• Part-time classes are offered from 17:00 – 21:00
• Student accommodation is available at Belhar and Tygerberg Campuses. Northville also offers
student accommodation (external/ off-site)
• Classes are offered in English
• Open Learning Centres, Cafeterias, Internet facilities, Media Centres, Social Activities,
Student Council and Sport Facilities are available to all registered students
• Career guidance
• Aptitude tests are available on request.

OTHER INFORMATION
• N1 will be offered on a Part-Time basis only
• Educare has been phased out, therefore, only returning N5 and N6 students may register for
2024.
