0 Most young people don’t know that the internet is a modern invention – after all,
they don’t remember a time without it. But it’s still quite a new technology.
1 These days, most British adults use the internet every day. About 70% of adults
use mobile phones and tablets to access the internet.
2 18- to 24-year-olds use the internet more than any other age group. They use it
mainly for social networking, downloading and playing games.
3 Some people never use the internet. Just over half of them are aged 75 years and
over.
4 And what about the youngest age groups? 93% of young teens use the internet
regularly. They mainly use it for social networking and finding information for
school.
5 And the most popular internet activity overall? Well, it’s the email! So it seems
that we still communicate with other people, we just do it in a different way!
