Amf Relay Catalog
SERACON AMF Relays are designed with latest micro-controller technology and provide the
users with hasslel free operation of their DG sets both in automatic mode and manual mode.
The relay, in addition to carrying out the DG start / Stop and power change over functions,
monitors vital engine parameters and ensures safety of the diesel engine.
Auto mode Operation : SERACON AMF-01 performs AMF control by carrying out five major
functions( high lighted) to be carried out when automating a DG set installation:
The relay monitors the utility supply all the time (EB monitoring). It has a specially designed
circuit which can detect the presence or absence of EB supply. When the EB supply is
present, the relay ensures that the DG set is stopped and the EB contactor is on.
When the EB supply fails, the EB contactor is off, DG is started( DG Start / Stop Contacts).
When the DG supply is on, DG contactor is made on. When the EB supply returns, the DG
contactor is off, EB contactor is On and The DG is stopped (Load Change over).
The relay receives from engine mounted sensors ( HWT, LLOP,V-Belt, LFL) and gives alarms
when these parameters are abnormal. It also monitors the battery voltage level and provides
an alarm (Engine monitoring) .
The relay gives one special contact to close the ignition circuit - this is necessary to keep
the battery charging during DG running in auto mode, when the panel mounted ignition
switch is in off position ( Ignition circuit close).

a) 2 Digit Seven Sement LEDs for indicating time delay settings and stop solenoids draw high DC currents for operation - 16 to 20 A.
If these large current signals are taken from AMF panel, there can be
count down timings voltage drops in the lead wires and cause problems to start / stop .
b) 16 independent LEDs for indication of plant status To avoid voltage drop issues, it is advisable to use a high current relay
unit mounted on the bed of the DG set. This remote relay unit will
receive low current, coil signals only from AMF panel and actuate the
8.00 Alarms high current solenoids effectively. This way the voltage drop problems
are avoided.
