ATA 70:

1. Capacity of CFM56 – 5B:


- Minimum: 21600 lbs of Thrust. – (9800 kg)
- Maximum: 33000 lbs of Thrust. – (14970 kg)
2. TH/REVERSER controlled by ECU:
- Electronic control.
- HYD operate
- Manual Selector.
- 4 HYD blocker doors.
- 4 actuator control by HCU.
3. How to stow THRUST RV?
- Move Thrust lever to Idle Position.
- All spoilers are retract.
- Thrust reverser door close.
4. TH/RV control by 3 computer: (ECU, EIU, SEC)
- ECU located on RH side of FAN Case.
- FADEC alternator is on the gearbox.
- Ignition box: RH side of Engine core.
- Air starter: RH side of Gearbox rear face.
- ENG Oil tank: LH side of Fan case.
- HCU: FWD of RH “C” duct.
5. ENG drain: has 4 drain collectors & manual drain valve.
- Only 2 collectors drain by ram air v>200 kts.
6. What the main part of ENG NACELL?
- Air inlet cowl (made by CFRP and metal front part for engine anti ice)
- Fan cowl
- C-duct cowl
- Pylon
- Center body & primary nozzle
7. ENG FAN attach fitting: has 36 bolts.
8. When the hot bleed air from ENG is ducted to Cowl nose lip to prevent ice build-up?
- When ENG anti icing on the cockpit overhead panel is selected to ON.

- 35* for ENG remove & Installation (Max: 8 cm is allow if slat extend)

- 28 volts DC when engine not running.

- BITE test on MCDU.

24. What happen if both FADEC failure?


- ENG run at Idle position.
- All sys(vsv,tbv,lptacc,hptacc,fuel flow….) components are at Fail Safe Position.

25. Which computer are controlled by ECU but not Interface with EIU?
- FDIMU
- FWCS
- DMCS
- FMGCS

26. When ECU get PWR supply by 115 VAC?


- Only when N2 < 58%.

27. ECU & EIU communication:


- Only EIU channel A connect to ECU. (Only input)
- Channel 2 is just for saving data. (only output)

28. If EIU electrical PWR is lost, EIU fails:


- ENG can not start or re-start (on ground and in flight).

29. (EIU-1 fails in fly, ENG still running:


- Master Caution.
- Single Chime.
- Lost of some secondary parameter.
- Lost Auto Thrust.
- Can not re-start ENG in fly.
- No Thrust Reverser during Landing.

30. How ECU lost PWR supply? For “ON” is opposite.


- Electrical PWR = ECU depower after 5 mn.
- Maint pan = FADEC GND PWR P/B OFF.
- Mode Selector to = NORMAL.
- ENG Master level: OFF
- ENG fire P/B release.

31. AUTOMATIC START:


- ENG master P/B ON.
- Mode selector : Start
- N2 = 16% (cut of IGN)
- N2= 22% (cut off Fuel flow.
- N2= 50% (start valve ING stop.
- N2 = 59% (ENG stable)

32. ENGINE CRANK:


- Dry Crank:
o Mode selector “Crank”
o ENG “Manual start” P/N ON
 Start valve open
 N2 rise
 Oil Pressure rise.
- Wet crank:
o Mode selector “Crank”
o ENG “Manual start” P/N ON
 Start valve open
 N2 rise
 Oil Pressure rise.
o At 20% N2 – Master lever “ON”
o After 10 sec, - Master lever OFF
o At N2 around 20%, dry crank starts.
o After 60 sec “MAN” P/B Off.

33. What indication of Start Failure?


- Amber message on ECAM.
- Master Caution.
- Fault light come on ENG P/B.

34. IGNITION FAULT IN AUTOMATIC MODE: “ECU” will start: First Attempt:
- Mode selector to START.
- ENG master P/B ON
- N2 16% : Igniter
- N2 22% : Fuel supply.
- 15 sec, FADEC turn of Ignition.
- 30 sec, Dry crank before new start.

35. IGNITION FAULT IN AUTOMATIC MODE: “ECU” will start: Second Attempt:
- 25 sec of dry crank, both ignitors are re-energized.
- 5 sec fuel is supplied. (ECAM message)
- 30 sec dry crank cut of auto start.
- Fault light come on and ECAM message.
- ENG master P/B Off.

36. HPTACC sys use stage 4 & 9 air to heat or cool the HPT.

37. What indication of Predicted N1?


- Blue circle on the N1 and correspond to the value determined by the Throttle
Level Angle.

38. THRUST LIMIT MODE:


- Climb: 83.7 %
- MCT : 88.4 %
- TOGA : 89.5%

39. A/TH function:


- Normally active when the throttle levers are set between IDLE & Climb.
- In Alpha Floor: A/TH become active automatically. (N1 target is TOGA)
40. TCU controlled by 3 computers:
- ECU - Resolver / Channel A & B (6VAC)
- EIU - Switch
- SEC - Potentiometer SEC 1, 2 & 3.
41. EGT is send and average by 9 thermocouple probles.

ATA 36:

1. What is the PWR source and Major users for Pneumatic?


- Pneumatic Source:
o APU
o GPU
o ENG
- Major User:
o PACK 1 & 2
o Wing Anti Icing
o Reservoir Pressure
2. What is purpose of Pneumatic:
- P & T regulate air to the Users. (control by: ECB)
o Normal range bleed P: 36 – 44 psi (200*c)

3. ENG Bleed Air:


- HP (9 stages)
- IP (5 stages)

4. HP Valve Operation:
- Normal close by spring
- Open when upstream air P > 8 psi
- Air maintain at downstream 36 psi
- Close if upstream P > 120 psi

5. PRV (pressure regulating valve) Operation:


- Normal close by spring
- Open when upstream air P > 8 psi
- Air maintain at downstream 44 psi
- Close by CTL solenoid.

6. OPV (over pressure valve) Operation:


- Spring load to open.
- Valve close if P = 75 psi
- Fully close if upstream P > 85 psi

7. PRV & HP valve:


- If any abnormal condition, BMC will energize solenoid to close PRV and HPV
automatic close.

8. Pre Cooler Function:


- Use fan air to cool the bleed air if the T increase beyond 200*C

9. BMC consist of: 2 Pressure sensors & 1 Temperature Sensor.


10. HP & IP operation:
- Low PWR setting, we use HP air pressure.
- High PWR setting, we use IP air pressure.

11. APU Function:


- AUP bleed supply is connected to LH side of cross-bleed duct.
- GPU can connect on LH side on ground, RH side just open cross-bleed valve.
- APU bleed has priority over ENG bleed.
- APU bleed valve open, X-bleed valve also open. X-bleed selector is “Auto”
position.

12. CLT solenoid will energized & close the PRV in the following condition:
- ENG bleed P/B “OFF”
- Fire P/B release.
- BMC
o Over P > 57 psi
o Over T > 257*C
o Leak
o APU bleed “ON” has priority over ENG bleed.

# During ENG start, N=50% start valve open, but HPV close for keeping
ENG start.

13. LOOP Sensor:


- Normal T = the salt is insulator.
- Higher T = the salt is conductor.
- Wing & Bely fairing has 2 loops : A & B controlled by BMC.
- Pylon has only 1 loop.
- APU loop monitored only by BMC-1

14. X-bleed valve is:


- Electrical control & operated by BMC.
- 1 motor (manual) controlled by S/W
- 1 motor (auto) controlled by BMC

15. APU bleed control valve for the APIC APU is electrically controlled and fuel
operated by servo valve.
