INTRODUCTION
The identity of an Indonesian citizen loyal to Pancasila is a testament to the rich
tapestry of values that define our nation. Embracing diversity, unity, and social justice,
this identity embodies a commitment to upholding the foundational principles of
Pancasila. Rooted in the belief in the One and Only God, justice, democracy, and the
unity of Indonesia, it reflects a deep sense of responsibility towards our society and
fellow citizens.

INDONESIAN NATION
Indonesia's journey to nationhood was shaped by cultural diversity, the struggle for
independence, the adoption of Pancasila as the foundational ideology, the
establishment of Bahasa Indonesia as the national language, state-building efforts,
and a commitment to diversity. Despite initial challenges, Indonesia emerged as a
unified nation, leveraging its diversity as a strength. Through programs promoting
unity in diversity and socioeconomic development, Indonesia continues to
strengthen national cohesion and prosperity.
INDONESIA COUNTRY
Indonesia is a republic country this means that the
country has a system of government in which voters
hold and exercise their power through elected
representatives. The country became independent
on August 17, 1945.
The national principle of Indonesia is the Pancasila,
while the legal basis is the Constitution of 1945.
Rights and freedoms are protected and listed in the
constitution to preserve human rights and liberty.
INDONESIA COUNTRY
Indonesia faces challenges in border management, including territorial
disputes with Malaysia over Pulau Sipadan and Ligitan, now owned by
Malaysia, and illegal fishing incursions. Despite these challenges,
Indonesia's geopolitical stance evolves with active engagement in
international politics and adherence to bilateral rules and memberships
in organizations like ASEAN and G20. The constitution grants Indonesian
citizens essential rights, including freedom of association, expression,
protection from violence and discrimination, education, religious
freedom, and property ownership.
CITIZENSHIP
Citizenship is a membership and allegiance to a nation. Citizens can participate
in the formulation of laws and the administration of the state, engage in
religious and cultural activities, and enter military service

CITIZENSHIP
It is important to note however, that citizenship doesn’t necessarily equates to
nationalism or patriotism. It also doesn’t guarantee unity amongst its citizens
and communities inside it.

Citizens may also not fulfill their responsibilities towards their nations.

It is inherently the responsibilities of individual citizens to uphold the values of

pancasila and fulfill their responsibilities towards the nation.

INDONESIA AND THE WORLD
Interstate relations can lead to conflicts due to national priorities, which can be
resolved through integration, conflict, or accommodation. In Indonesia, interstate
conflicts have influenced the establishment of laws regarding citizens' rights and
obligations. The 1945 Constitution emphasizes "free and active politics" and
Indonesia's role in international relations. Globalization presents challenges like
multinational corporations, resource competition, and national identity fragility.
Indonesia initiated the formation of ASEAN in 1967 to confront stronger nations based
on cultural similarities. Regional cooperation is essential to address globalization
conditions and foster collaboration, sustainability, and respect for diverse cultures.
10
IMPLEMENTATION OF PANCASILA
The third principle of Pancasila stands for the
unity of Indonesia (persatuan indonesia). Unity
means being or staying together. That means
helping and supporting each other in any
situation. Being together is the key to build a
good and strong society and relationships.
Unity is important at every step in our life.
