Fluids and greases information for the following machine models are included in this refer-
ence guide:
! NOTE: Use the suitable hydraulic oil for the specific ambient temperature.

Use a mineral-based or synthetic (polyalphaolefin or diester) hydraulic oil that contains in-
hibiting properties for rust, wear, oxidation, and foam as well as having air and water sepa-
ration ability. Select an oil with a Viscosity Grade (VG) and a Viscosity Index (VI) that is ap-
plicable for the intended temperature zone. An oil with a high viscosity index is less tem-
perature dependent.
NOTE: Epiroc recommends only using EPIROC compressor oil for the single-stage and
! two-stage compressors. Use of another oil is at the customer's own risk.

3.3 Fuel
The quality of the diesel fuel is an important factor for the performance, the lifetime, and
the emission levels of the diesel engine.
NOTE: Use only diesel fuel that meets the requirements in the engine operation and
! maintenance manual.
NOTE: Stored fuel must be stored in a closed container that prevents contact with the
! air. The container must be clean and approved for the storage of fuel.
Stage V (EU) Must meet cleanliness ISO 4406 Ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD <15
Tier 4 Final (US) rating 18/16/13 or better. ppm).
Stage IIIA (EU) Must meet cleanliness ISO 4406 Low-sulfur diesel (LSD <500
Tier 3 (US) rating 18/16/13 or better. ppm).
NOTE: Use only engine oil that meets the requirements in the engine operation and
! maintenance manual.
Stage IIIA (EU) -9.5 (14.9) 50 (122) API: CI-4, CI-4+ 15W-40
Tier 3 (US) -18 (0) 50 (122) 10W-40
NOTE: Consult the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for the Diesel Exhaust
! Fluid (DEF) specifications.
NOTE: Do not add water to DEF. Store DEF in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area.
! Avoid storing the DEF in the sun. Optimum storage temperature is between -11 °C
(12 °F) and 30 °C (86 °F).
NOTE: Use only ready mixed Organic Acid Technology (OAT) coolant that meets
! ASTM D6210.
NOTE: Consult engine manufacturer's local representative for coolant requirement and
! maintenance.
! NOTE: Do not use sealing additives or soluble oils in the cooling system.
NOTE: Epiroc recommends using Epiroc COP oil which is specially developed for hy-
! draulic rock drills and rotation units.
Minimum Maximum
COP Rock drill -25 (-13) 50 (122) Epiroc COP oil ISO VG 100
DHR Rotation unit -25 (-13) 50 (122) Epiroc COP oil ISO VG 100
NOTE: If COP oil is not available, see the oil specification in the maintenance manual
! for the COP rock drill or the DHR rotation unit.
NOTE: Epiroc recommends using Epiroc COP grease, which has been specially devel-
! oped for Epiroc hydraulic rock drills, and is suitable for gear housing and flushing seals.
COP grease is adequate for both arctic and tropical conditions.
Minimum Maximum
COP Rock drill -40 (-40) 150 (302), up to 220 (428) for Epiroc COP grease
shorter periods
NOTE: If COP grease is not available, see the grease specification in the maintenance
! manual for the COP rock drill.
NOTE: See the grease specification in the maintenance manual for the DHR rotation
! unit.
