SCHOOL HEALTH PROGRAMME REPORT
One day School Health Programme was organized by CPMS College of Nursing, PEWS Group
of Institution on 25/05/2023 to Raghunath Chaudhary High School, Birkuchi. The beneficiaries
of the programme were 90 students from class-1 to class-3. The visit comprised students of 10
M.Sc Nursing 1st year 5 each from Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing department and Child
Health Nursing with faculty members, Assistant Professor Ms. Sapam Leipak Leima Chanu and
Assistant Professor Mrs. Dropati Thapa. We arrived there at 10:30 AM.
INTRODUCTION
Children between the ages of 5-17 years are school age children. About 30 percent of the
population is comprised of this age group. Considering the importance of health services to be
provided to school children, 1st year M.Sc nursing students have organized school health
programme in which a role play and health education was provided to the children’s of
Raghunath Chaudhary High School under the guidance of Assistant Professor Ms. Sapam Leipak
Leima Chanu and Assistant Professor Mrs. Dropati Thapa.

ACTIVITIES
1. M.Sc (N) 1st year students have performed anthropometric measurement of school
children and calculated BMI of children. They also have undertaken health screening of
students.
2. Role play was performed on the topic, “Ill effects of junk foods and mobile phones”.
3. Health education was provided on the topics, “Healthy Habits”, “Oral Hygiene” and
“Hand Hygiene”.

RAGHUNATH CHAUDHARY HIGH SCHOOL
The school was established in the year 1975 and it is managed by department of education. It is
located in Birkuchi, Kamrup Metro, Assam. The school consists of grades up to class 10. The
school is coeducational and it doesn’t have an attached pre- primary section. Hindi language is
the medium of instructions in this school. This school is approachable by all weather roads. In
this school academic session starts in the month of April.
The school has Government building. It has no classroom for instructional purposes. All the
classrooms are in a good condition. It has 2 other class rooms for non-teaching activities. The
school has a spate room for head master. The school has a good electricity supply. The source of
drinking water in the school is tap water and it’s functional. The school has 1 boy’s toilet and 1
girl’s toilet and both are functional. The school has no playground. The school has no library.
The school has no computer classroom for teaching and learning purposes. The school doesn’t
provide mid day meal to the students.
CONCLUSION

School health services are essential part need to be looked after to improve health status of
school children. Abnormal cases were referred to nearby Urban PHC. School teachers have been
made aware about the findings of health screening. School teachers were also made aware about
how to maintain records of health status of children. Role play and health education was also
found effective to bring health related awareness in school children. At the end of the programme
some stationary items like pencil, eraser and sharpeners were distributed to the school children.
