2024-25 Course List for Rising Grade 10 Students On your Course Request Form, select from among the

urse Request Form, select from among the courses on this form and list those courses you
deem most appropriate for you to take next year. Complete and sign your Course Request Form by
March 4.

Major Courses. All sophomores are required to take five major courses: English, World History II, mathematics, science, and language. Major courses are 1 credit in value and meet four periods
each cycle. A sixth major course may be taken only with special permission from the Associate Head of the Upper School. Please see the guidelines for filling out your course request form for
more information.
Other Required Courses. World Religions, a semester minor, is required in the sophomore year. Course choices will be sent in a Google form in March.

Elective Courses. Sophomores may take up to 1.5 credits of additional elective courses, provided that the requested courses can fit into the student’s schedule. Students approved to take a sixth
major may add one additional minor course.

Minor Courses. Year minors are offered over the course of the entire year, for an equivalent of 160 minutes per cycle. Semester minors are offered for one semester, either fall or spring, for four
periods each cycle. Whether a semester minor will be offered in the fall or spring or in both semesters is not determined until enrollment requests have been processed and the master schedule
is built over the summer.
