The green curve is the frequency response of the beam without passive isolator.
And the pink curve is the frequency response of the beam with passive isolator.
As can be seen from the example of figure, the high-frequency (628.3Hz)

Schematic Layout of Apparatus:

Experiment Apparatus: an oil damper, 1 contacted exciter, 1 accelerometer, 1

instrument with exciter’s power amplifier and 1 channel charge amplifier and
programmable signal source, 1 computer.
Experimental Principle: The oil damper is consists of oil cylinder and hydraulic oil. The
cylinder of oil damper is fixed with simple supported beam. When the cylinder
vibrates with the beam, oil will dampen and reduce the vibration amplitude of
the beam. Oil damper will not work at high-frequency vibration. It will reduce the
vibration of the simply supported beam at lower frequency range.
Operating Steps:
1) Connect the sensors, instruments and experimental apparatus according to the
diagram.
2) Adjust the frequency of output signal of programmable signal source, with the
sweep mode, sweep range is from 20Hz to 1000Hz. Sweep frequency interval
can be chosen from 1Hz to 2Hz
3) Generally adjust the power amplifier’s output current to nearly 200mA
4) At First, without damper, adjust the frequency of the sine wave of
programmable sweep signal source from 20Hz to 1000Hz. The signal amplified
by the power amplifier excites the exciter. The exciter makes the simply
supported beam forced vibration. The acceleration sensor measures the first
three-order natural frequency curve of the beam. Press the "Hold frequency
response curve" button to memory the frequency response curve;
5) Secondly, repeat the same operation as the last process with oil damper.
Acceleration response curve is recorded. Pink curve is the curve of first
three-order frequency response of a simply supported beam without damper.
Green curve is the curve of frequency response of a simple beam with oil
damper. The figure shows that first natural vibration frequency of simply
supported beam's has been absorbed by oil damper. The high frequency is not
significant.

Experiment 5.11 Beat Vibration

Schematic Layout of Apparatus:

Experiment Apparatus: 1 set of motor and motor speed adjuster, 1 contact vibration
exciter, 1 accelerometer, 1 instrument with exciter’s power amplifier and 1
channel charge amplifier and programmable signal source, 1 computer.
Experimental Principle: When the vibration of exciter frequency is closer to the
rotating frequency of the motor. The beat wave will be produced on the simply
supported beam.
Operating Steps:
1) Connect sensors, instruments and experimental apparatus according to the
diagram.
2) Adjust the frequency of the sine wave signal to F1. The sine wave is amplified
by power amplifier and excites the exciter. The vibration of contacted exciter
makes the simply supported beam forced vibration.
3) Adjust the rotation speed of the motor. Define the frequency of the rotation is
F2. The vibration of motor makes the base of the experiment set forced
vibration.
4) When the F1 and F2 is closer. The vibration curve of simply supported beam
measured by accelerometer is beat wave as the following figure.
